Disappointing, and a tourist trap.
This was supposed to be our big night out with the family in the French Quarter. Ended up spending close to $400 for our family of four, and went away mostly disappointed. The atmosphere is lively, and the place seems well run, but we had the surliest, crankiest server. He was efficient, but couldn't be bothered to smile, ask a question, or make us feel at all welcome. Some of the dishes were good, our shrimp and grits came out borderline cold, and the prices seemed high, even for these times. I doubt any serious foodie, or very many locals bother with this place. We had much better meals in the Marigny and Uptown.

It was challenging for us to get a reservation here. We finally succeeded after about 18 months of trying. The food was outstanding and the service was friendly, helpful and attentive. We would definitely recommend and return.
Be the first to ReplyNice stop at the bar
We were looking for a mid-afternoon snack and cocktail while it was raining. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very helpful with recommendations. We wanted two different types of gumbo and they gave us separate bowls instead of us eating out of one bowl, plus a huge loaf of bread. Drinks were good.
Be the first to ReplyTrip 5 years in the planning due to covid and a couple of other incidents. Well worth the wait.
Fantastic. We had the Barbeque Shrimp and it was fabulous Our waiter Steven was great. Helpful professional cheery, and patience with us. Overall the service and price was great. The food was to die for.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Way To Start Vacation!
We went here for an early dinner our first night in New Orleans and what a great way to start off our vacation! Impeccable and attentive service, great recommendations for both food and wine pairings and the food was absolutely delicious! I had the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits...loved it! Between the rest of my family they had the pork chop and the mahi mahi....all were outstanding with the pork chop in particular as a standout! We finished it with three great desserts...bread pudding, white chocolate brownie and salted caramel cake. A really great dinner and I would definitely go back on our next visit.

Food was excellent, the bbq shrimp and grits were to die for, would definitely enjoy that again. Service was excellent very friendly but not too overwhelming great seafood gumbo
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the price.
The food taste OK but not cooked properly. My streak was tender but Rare, not the medium I ordered. My friends fish was raw (not supposed to be) and she had to send it back to be finished. The place is dated and need some restoration work. The worst was our waiter was arguing with another waiter where patrons could hear the. The other guy palmed a knife (that I don't think or waiter saw but one of my friends did). This should be highly embarrassing for the two as well as their bosses.

Seafood Gumbo and Shrimp N Grits were both so good. Drinks are delicious. Must return spot for us. Atmosphere fun, great place to hang out.

I want to start by saying weโve been here many times and this is first unsatisfied experience. We popped in for lunch and were immediately seated. They were not super busy for a Saturday. We ordered the entree BBQ shrimp and a bowl of gumbo yaya, to share. We waited 20-25 minutes just for someone to bring our drinks. We waited at least 45 minutes on our food to come out. The gumbo was cold. We sent it back and it was obviously just popped in the microwave. Weโve had the gumbo on several occasions and always look forward to it. It was cold and the roux tasted burnt this time. We didnโt eat it and asked to replace with seafood gumbo and weโd just take it to-go, as weโd been there over 1.5 hours at this point. The shrimp were great as usual but served knew we were sharing and she brought out in one bowl. Weโve ordered it this way many times and itโs always brought out in two bowls. The people behind us was served this dish in two bowls while sharing. This is a common dish thatโs shared and commonly split between two bowls. When we got home today and unloaded our cooler with gumbo, there was a small cup sized container of mostly rice with a small amount of gumbo. Hardly any seafood at all. Two very small shrimp. The photo Iโm attaching is poured into a very small ramekin at home. So, we paid for a $19 bowl and got about a cup or less of mostly rice. Had we known at the restaurant we would have said something. Overall just not a great experience like weโve come to expect here.
Be the first to ReplySIMPLY OUTSTANDING . . . amazing food, amazing service!
Wonderful restaurant in the heart of New Orleans bustling center. Had wonderful, friendly service by "team 14", friendly, helpful, fun AND fabulous meals. Everything was fresh and flavorful and portions large. For 4 people the bill (food, dessert and drinks) was $200....great value for such amazing food. Don't miss it!!
Be the first to ReplyAverage Lunch
We were here for lunch. Had Bistro Burger and Duck Spring Rolls - both were very good. Service left quite a bit to be desired. Was slow and bordering on rude. I know this is a NOLA staple, and maybe it's more exciting for dinner, but was very average for lunch. Would recommend if convenient but wouldn't go out of my way necessarily.

I know there are so many great choices to pick from in New Orleans for great food but donโt overlook Mr. Bโs. The atmosphere was nice. Itโs a place that is nice enough that if you want to dress up a little you will feel right at home but itโs not so fancy that you canโt wear casual clothes. The food tastes great. We had bacon wrapped shrimp and grits. The grits were well done. They use milk instead of water in them which made them better. The pasta jambalaya was very good too. The service was excellent. Dominique and Steven(aka โBiscuit โ) took great care of us. Steven was also very open to giving recommendations of things to do. Very friendly. We will definitely come back.

The oysters were so good that went back and had them again. Jenease was wonderful! Great hidden gem.
Be the first to ReplyGOOD FOOD AND SERVICE
Great food and service. We had reservations for a late lunch. All of our meals were prepared perfectly and timely. We shared gumbo yaya and a salad. My husband and I split a burger, and our daughter ordered the grilled fish. Our servers made sure we had everything we needed and were friendly. Mr. B's will be on our list when we come back to NOLA.
Be the first to ReplyIntolerant and hateful staff
So I normally don't blast restaurants negatively but after last night, I will tell everyone I know NEVER to visit Mr. B's Bistro. My son suffered a skull fracture and severe concussion in January. He is still recovering and has moments of irritability. Last night, a few times, he screamed for something he wanted, or didn't want. Not long lasting but apparently enough that the table next to us felt the need to say something to us, rudely. PSA - Remember what your mom told you? If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. Kindness matters. You never know what people are going through. To make matters worse, their waitress, joined in and told us "This isn't chuck-e- cheese you know." ๐ต Obviously this escalated. My mama bear came out. Management did nothing but apologize and offer to package our food to go. The waitress, nor anyone at the other table, even apologized. (She even continued to make faces and rude comments as we left.) @Mr.B's Bistro let's work on training your staff to be decent human beings. Teach them to be tolerant of differences and intolerant of hate.

I thought this restaurant would be special, but it wasn't. I was disappointed. It was crowded. We walked in late and were able to get a city. People tend to eat early in N'awlins.

Outstanding menu selection, delicious food, and the best service ever! Excellent bar service too, Larry made special drinks for us1

We have loved coming to Mr. Bโs over the years for so many reasons especially the outstanding service but we will not return. We recently came for a late lunch and sat at the bar as there was plenty of room. The bartender Larry was so rude and short with us from the start. We ordered appetizers, wine and entrees and Larry seemed generally annoyed and put out by each request. Ultimately there was a major discrepancy between what I ordered and what he sent to the kitchen and when I asked Larry about it he simply shrugged, agreed it wasnโt what I ordered but didnโt correct any part of it. I didnโt eat what he brought and we paid the bill but two weeks later, the experience is still nagging me. Lunch for two was $200 and in the right circumstances, I would gladly pay that but not again at Mr. Bโs.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and service
We had a nice dinner, the food was good and service as well. We took off a star because our dessert, bread pudding, was heated in the microwave. The inside was hot, and the outside not. This was disappointing. Otherwise, all was good.
Be the first to ReplyMr Bโs NOLA - great food and experience but lacking on gluten-free dessert options.
Menu selections offered a wide variety of options for appetizers and entrees. We tried the bbq shrimp, grilled fish and pork chops. The food was great. One of our guests was gluten-free. We were looking for desserts and disappointed in that there were no gluten-free options on the menu. We asked if thereโs an alternative for our guest and the answer was no and no alternative was offered or suggested. That was a bit disappointing.

Great lunch on Lundi Gras. Started with good cocktails and Marvin's excellent service. Our dishes ranged from Veal Panee to BBQ shrimp to fish. All very well prepared. A must place in the quarter
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful evening at Mr B's Bistro. New Orleans.
We have enjoyed many meals at Mr B's. Although Mardi Gras was in full swing, our evening was top shelf. I had the baked chicken which is my favorite. Picture attached. They have something for every palate. The location on Royal Street is great since I stay across the street at the Monty. My visit is always a real treat because Ken Theriot makes sure that everything is super. My spouse loved her meal and the desert too. Ken, thank you.
Be the first to ReplyDelightful Dining Experience
We dined here on a Saturday night during Mardi Gras. Karen was our server, and was absolutely fantastic. She rolled with the punches, as my husband and best guy friend were in high spirits (literally and figuratively), and were joking around with her non-stop. She was great at recommending a delightful champagne (a blanc de blancs) and which entrรฉes were most delicious. Our party had the shrimp and grits, filet, and the pork chop. Hubby said the grits were the best thing about dinner. I loved my pork chop (itโs thick, juicy, and the glaze is SO yummy). All in all, a truly wonderful meal. Service and taste were both on point. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful meal! We went pre advised about the BBQ shrimp and weโre more than rewarded for our efforts. Only complaint, we decided to split 1 order and ended up wanting to have our own orders. This meal is much more than finger licking good!. Bread pudding to close out the best meal around, what could be better?
