There are thousands of restaurants to choose from in Chicago and my wife and I are always looking for new ones with new ideas. We recently found one in Munno Pizzeria & Bistro. Located at 4656 North Clark Street in the Ravenswood/Uptown neighborhood, south of West Lawrence, co-owners Nick Russo and Bob Monti have unveiled a hidden gem that has been listed among "Best Restaurant of 2018 That You've Never Heard of" and "Best New Restaurants of 2019" and "Top 5 Best Places In The City To Eat Gourmet Pizza." Munno Pizzeria offers a limited menu of pizza and pasta that is prepared in an open kitchen. But what there is really stands out. We started with bruschetta and a salumi plate with Italian cold-cuts, cheese, olives and bread. My wife was delighted with the lasagna, fresh pasta with traditional ragu, Bechamel and parmigiano reggiano. I couldn't resist the Salsiccia pizza with tomato sauce, pork sausage, mozzarella and parmigiano reggiano. Dessert was a treat, too. We shared a big slice of tiramisu and a bowl of butterscotch pudding. It might take a while for Munno Pizzeria to catch on in a town where pizza parlors are located on nearly every corner. But it's too good to pass up.
