What a disaster! So much for the finest restaurant in Mexico City. So much for five stars. We had a reservation for a long time, at 4:00 on a Wednesday. This was [supposed to be] one of the lighlights of our trip to Mexico City. First of all, they never said when we made a reservation that *there is no tasting menu after 3:30* for the earlier seatings. Not when we made our reservation, not when we arrived, not when, 20 minutes after we arrived they brought us a menu, which we had to request, not until somebody wandered up and took our order. They *never came over to us* without asking. The power went out, but they kept serving people. But . . . oops! . . . not us. It was not an enjoyable meal, and of course we spent tons of money. The baby corn was really, really delicious, as was the Wagyu flat iron steak. But the other dishes were just fine. The massively expensive caviar on plantain bread tasted like delicious banana bread, which so overpowered the caviar that it made absolutely no sense to serve them together. The asparagus was lovely, but at something like $30, I guess it should be. This just wasn't a special meal, and I'm still completely baffled that they ignored us. We asked for a dessert menu and just. never. got it. They were so over us before we even walked in the door.
