New York Prime Myrtle Beach Reviews from The Last Year
Off our must visit list
The elite have fallen. NY Prime has been one of our must visit places when we drive to Myrtle Beach. No more. We tolerated the overloud music, dark decor, and rising prices because the food and service were superior. And, it reminded us of our NYC roots. We went there this week, and the petit filet order medium was well done. Well done in a prime steakhouse? Unheard of. It easily replaced quickly, and the manager & server apologized. The next version was medium well and tolerable. Delmonico was tried and a risky move to order it with their option of Cajun. What a mistake! Despite preferring the red hot center, it was barely pink. Worst of all, it was smothered in a syrupy Cajun juice. Drenched the steak. Unlike the crispy exterior rub promised. After the filet fiasco and need phone flashlights to see the steaks interior, we gave up and agreed to never return. Be advised: today, prime is only such in prices, not quality and kitchen preparation. Sad!
We went here for my birthday, and it was absolutely nothing
We went here for my birthday, and it was absolutely nothing special. Our server didn't give me enough time to order something other than water, and then it was on to appetizers! We got the bacon and shrimp, I was only able to eat the bacon (allergies) and couldn't finish my appetizer since it was rock hard! Our main course took over an hour to come out due to a large party that came in after us. When it did come out, the taste of the steak (12oz filet for me) was nothing to brag about, and I ordered mine medium. It came with a red, cold center and I felt like I was eating raw meat. Server came by to see how the food was and didn't give enough time for everyone to respond, so I was unable to get this resolved, nor did I want to wait another hour. Not to mention, the sides are sub-par. Also, we were sat directly in front of where the staff was prepping orders so we got the joy of hearing plates clatter around! Although we tried to make the best of it, the experience is something I hope to soon forget :)
The first time my wife and I tried this place.
The food and service was great, I had the petite filet mignon done Oscar. It was very good and our waiter was good as well. I'm definitely going back
Don't go here if you have small children.
Made a reservation put in the notes that we needed a high chair. Upon arrival we were told they don't have high chairs and we were put in a tiny booth. The host could've at least called so we didn't waste our time driving there to let us know they couldn't accommodate a small child. She wasn't very pleasant either. If you want fine dining and have children go to 21 main just as upscale and child friendly. They were happy to serve us and we still spent close to 300 as expected.
Our reservation was for six people at 6pm on Friday, April
Our reservation was for six people at 6pm on Friday, April 26th. It was my first time visiting Myrtle Beach and NY Prime Steak house. I was surprised, entering the restaurant, at how small it was for a steak house. It was beautifully appointed in the New York Steakhouse style. Frank Sinatra music playing in the back ground. I had anticipated a great meal with prime steak as the center piece. What I didn't expect was the incredibly crowded, loud, and frenetic pace of the restaurant. There was a party of at least 20 male dinners beside us and because of the tight quarters, as the wait staff cleared their eaten plates of oysters Rockefeller and baked shrimp the plates were placed on a rolling cart right at my elbow. It stayed there long enough to make me cringe before it was removed by a waiter. The noise level was so loud, mixed with the background music, that I could barely hear the conversation at my table. The classic Caesar salad was way over dressed, and the amount of cheese on the cheesy mashed potatoes hid the gloppy over mixed mashed potatoes beneath. The highlights of the dinner were the exceptional petite filets along with the delicious Brussels sprouts and perfect asparagus. Our waitress was excellent and the service was top notch. But when you know it is going to be an expensive fine dining night out, you want to have an enjoyable time....great food, great friends, and wonderful conversation. This night at New York Prime did not deliver.
This is one of my favorite restaurants.
The best advice is to make reservations. The amount of golfers who come here is ridiculous. Hence, reservations are best to have. We did start with cocktails and we were brought bread and butter. We were seated at a nearby table. We had decided before hand to stay with the appetizers. We started out and shared the oysters Rockefeller. They were delicious and huge. I went with a Cesar salad and he did the shrimp cocktail. Anchovies are requested by me. Outstanding. Then he went with the thick cut pork belly. I did the carpaccio. His bacon was wonderful and really thick cut. My carpaccio as usual was delicious. Dessert? Yes please. We shared the cheesecake which was very good. Would I come back here? You know I will. If you see me there, stop by and say hello.
Outstanding food.
The service was wonderful with lots of positive interaction with the table! Great ambiance as well.
EXCELLENT dining experience - do not miss this place
We routinely visit New York prime - and it never disappoints. The wait staff and management are always polite and professional, and they're always welcoming. The menu is excellent and we haven't yet had a poor experience.
Delicious and recommended
Delicious! We ordered a lobster, New York steak and for dessert a BUTTER CAKE and everything was excellent. We had to ask for hot bread to be brought to us at the beginning, but other than that it is highly recommended for meat lovers.

It's a nice and upscale steakhouse in Myrtle Beach.
You need reservations and better book early. We ordered the Pittsburg style ribeye and filet, very good steaks.

This place was packed for a random Saturday.
Has to wait about 5 mins to be seated. The place was filled and loud. Our server was great... forgot his name. Loved the bread basket! We ordered the salad (family style), it was split in two. Ordered two filets, potatoes & creamed spinach. Filets were cooked well, but lacked flavor. I wish we ordered some sauce to accompany it. The potatoes were filled with what seemed like cheddar cheese. The cheese hardened quick and wasn't for my liking. I would have preferred it completely mixed it. The creamed spinach was perfect. My husband hates spinach but ate this one up! Some sides come in half portions, for two people, half portions are perfect. We ordered their apple dessert... nothing to brag about. A little underwhelming. Seems like the cookie desert was the way to go. Saw more people ordering that.
The best food I've ever had.
Service was impeccable! I can't wait to visit again! Ambiance was fantastic. I watched some people get the lobster. I can't afford it, but it looked great!
Great Service - Excellent (but pricey) food - Nice Ambiance = Great Experience
This spot is great for an upscale steak experience. My son and enjoyed our recent trip to Myrtle Beach for Jeep Jam 2023 and enjoyed a father son dinner at NY Prime. Made our reservation at Open Table a month or so ahead of time. Received both text and phone call to confirm our reservation. Note the complimentary valet parking is offered. The attendants were quick and friendly. Arrived on time and were greeted by the hostess at the podium. She seemed a bit harried due to the volume of business as she escorted us to our table and left us with menus and wine list. We were greeted immediately after being sat by our server Lia. She was very friendly and hospitable and should be commended for her excellent service throughout. She inquired beverage order and we both order unsweet tea. After serving she took our order. We decided to share the Porterhouse steak for 2 ($130). Lia did a great job explaining the cooking procedure at the restaurant and the cut of beef. I ordered the Wedge Salad ($13) and my son ordered the Caesar ($13) (both were the individual half/size portion). We ordered a small cream spinach ($9) and a full order of sauteed mushrooms ($13). I also ordered a bearnaise sauce to accompany the steak. I splurged on Oysters Rockefeller ($17) Food was served in good timing, we were sat near the exhibition kitchen and I enjoyed watching the culinary team. Oysters were served first - and cooked to perfection. Salads came out after and even though they were smaller portions they were big. Very good - chilled plates. Lia brought the Porterhouse on a gueridon cart and French served the meat onto a very hot plate. The meat was very tender - oh so good. The Bearnaise could have been a bit more flavorful of the tarragon. Sides were both excellent, the assortment of mushrooms was very good and the portion generous. We were impressed that the manager stopped by our table to check on satisfaction. We loved our experience so much I made reservations for next June for our annual family vacation/dinner.
Not worth it!
Went to eat for a friends Anniversary. We order a bone in rib eye for my husband. it was just average. Also we order a Lobster for 3 people. it was a 1 out of 10. It was burned and chewy. 180 not worth it. Honestly this is the first time that my experience there has ever been this bad. although i have felt that the food is over priced. Spoke with the waiter and the manger nothing was done.
Don’t go!!
Don’t waste your time or money(lots of it) on this restaurant. Very loud, bright and slow. Went for an anniversary on a Monday night. Table wasn’t ready because previous couple was sitting and talking. Had a drink at bar(2of us) for 30 minute wait for $40. Then seated in busy area under bright lights and waited and waited. Food was ok, nothing special. We both got sea bass. Bread was awful - tasted old. Spent $300 for 2 of us and had miserable dining experience.
Birthday Celebration
My boyfriend and I enjoyed the restaurant ambiance. The food was good and well-presented, and although my birthday cheesecake was a little burnt on the side, it still tasted delicious. and the service was outstanding. Our server was so kind and thoughtful! We had a great time and I enjoyed my birthday dinner here.
The BEST!
From the moment valet met us to the meal and after... thus was a Top Notch experience! I haven't been for years and it was great then! Service was amazing and seemless! We felt important and cared for! The food was delicious and prepared to perfection! Professionalism and true customer first service! We will be back!!!! Thank you!
Thoroughly wonderful
Food and staff were excellent. I had an amazing sea bass while hubby’s steak was grilled to perfection. Yes, the place is boisterous, even loud at times, but a fully energetic atmosphere. Courtesy valet parking was one thing I never saw mentioned, but greatly appreciated on a busy Saturday night in summer in Myrtle Beach.
Great Service and OUTSTANDING Food!!!
We came down from Michigan were there for my Girlfriend's Birthday Dinner. The Service was Outstanding. The food was AMAZING we would come back if we are ever in Myrtle Beach again.
1 Star Service to 5 Stars
it was a chaotic night, they forgot about our reservations but the hostess was so nice that she went above and beyond just to accommodate us last min. (since basically it was their fault, since I have receipt of my reservations), So i didn't really dive into the negative start and then we had dinner, their steak was absolutely perfection (must try).
