Norma New York Reviews from The Last Year
Delicious food, great atmosphere.
Delicious food, reasonable prices, amazing staff- say hello to Vincenzo & Uliks (Ulysses). Highly recommend bruschetta, arugula salad, tiramisu- you can't go wrong since the whole menu is great.
I had the pizza ortolana and arancina norma.
The arancina was nothing particularly impressive - literally just a giant ball of fried risotto. It definitely wasn't worth $16. However, the pizza was very good - the crust was chewy, there was plenty of cheese, and the vegetables added just the right variety of flavors.

Had a great experience here!! I was dining alone and it was a very comfortable environment. The bread that came with the meal was good and very fresh! I ordered the crochette di patate, and the anelletti siciliani pasta. The crochettes were a phenomenal starter and I loved the dipping sauce. They're basically fried potatoes with a soft inside. My anelleti siciliani was a baked pasta dish, and it was also delicious. It all tasted very authentic -- of my favorite italian spots in the city now. Eating the leftovers now! Servers were all very nice :)
This is a place that actually disappointed us.
Much of the food is very good, some a little underwhelming. Bruschetta was topped with tomatoes straight from the fridge and tuna salad seemed to have little tuna which might even have been tinned - you couldn't tell. Pasta dish , Anelletti Siciliani was excellent. The desserts seem to have taken a huge hike in price. The two lovely desserts we had were priced at 40% more than the current online menu (restaurant not takeaway). Also apparently the previously free bread and oil is no longer free it is now $4. If you don't want to pay you get 4 dry pieces of bread. The service was a bit over the top. We had two waiting staff continually prowling about 6 tables which was a bit intrusive. Unforgivably our mains arrived before we had completed our bruschetta and the plates were shoved around to fit on the table without any thought for how we would feel. This actually was our most expensive meal whilst in NYC when we thought it would be better value.
A real gem.
Pasta brought me back to Sicilia and the gluten-free pizza is incredibly delicious, not to mention the great service and delicious wine selection - Sicilian wines of course. We eat here every time we get to be in the city.
Their food is typical Sicilian.
In particular, their arancini are so perfect. If you're a non-meat-eater like myself, their Norma arancini are the best. Try them out. Their desserts are divine. I love this place. Great ambience, and the staff are courteous and accommodating.

Norma is a nice Sicilian restaurant recommend from the Michelin guide in Hells Kitchen. We decided to come here on a Friday evening. The restaurant does not take reservations online or on the phone so we came in person. Luckily we did find a table to seat us and they did accommodate us having a baby stroller. We started off with their Burrata which was fresh and creamy. It was followed by Frito misto, a seafood platter of shrimp calamari and fried zucchini. The calamari were fresh and crunchy, and squeezing lemon on the plate definitely enhanced it. We also ordered their margherita pizza which was ok but nothing special. For pastas we ordered their pasta alla Norma. This was the star of night, definitely my favorite dish here, the pasta sauce was out of this world with little eggplant and pecorino & ricotta salata cheese. We also ordered Tagliolini al ragù di agnello e caprino which was their spaghetti with lamb meat and goat cheese. It was good too. My only take is that they didn't have many pasta dishes that didn't include pork. Kind of limited our dishes but overall I was very happy
I have since been back and just wanted to say the carpaccio
I have since been back and just wanted to say the carpaccio di polipo is a must must try. The pistachio tartufo was awesome as well. Same top notch ingredients and friendly/vibey service.
It's about time I gave Norma a review given that I go
It's about time I gave Norma a review given that I go frequently. Norma offers solid pizza which I get every time I visit. The pasta Norma, the gnocchi, and the cannoli for desert are the other standbys. I typically get the bresaola or the friti as a starter, if I'm getting one. The Sicilian sandwiches and the arancini are less exciting imo. The drinks are solid. Give a try.
One of my favorite spots in the city.
The food is consistently great. Can't go wrong here.
