Permafrost on Primrose Hill?
I ordered a main, whilst my friend, she ordered 3 courses, deciding to share her starter and pudding all from the Sunday Lunch menu. My main was the roast beef and my friend catch of the day. Herein was the nub of the problem as her fish was served with mussels of which my friend has a specifis allergy to. We alerted the waiter to this and we enquired why we hadn't been asked about allergies. He said we should have notified the booking site of this in effect blaming the matter entirely on us ie. victim blaming. There was no expression of concern by the waiter/ maitre de and if anything , by his manner and body language - just inconvenience. I noticed that the other diners in the restaurant, ordering the same dishes as us appeared to have bigger prtions than us. Perhaps they were regular customers and/ or they were spending more than us. I certainly regret paying the full discretionary service charge on account of the maitre de and his frosty behaviour, which was as inhospitable as the freezing cold wind blowing outside. I noted the continuence of his demeanour as we left, when his female colleague bade us a "Good Afternoon" he chose omertà. Whilst the beef was cooked well and the food especially the bread was good, it was difficult see anything "value added" about the experience and was poor value for money.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing tasting menu lunch
Disappointing tasting menu lunch. We went for the tasting menu lunch to celebrate my sister’s recent marriage. One of our diners, my wife, is a coeliac. I informed the restaurant ahead of time. Instead of replacing food that my wife couldn’t eat they simply removed it. This left her the odd one out - and also less well-fed. Courses were generally well executed but unimaginative. Service was slow to the point of being non-existent. Would not recommend.
Be the first to ReplyLazy Sunday Afternoon
We have been several times for Sunday lunch before, but opted for the chicken and the classic fish and shrimp dishes instead of the roast beef this time. 3 courses of this quality in such a cosy environment with fabulous service is exceptional value for money. Really can’t recommend it highly enough. We didn’t want to leave but eventually tore ourselves away and had a lovely chat with the charming chef/proprietor on the way out. He always seems happy to have a chat even though he’s somewhat of a celebrity chef.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious, reasonably priced food and great wine selection in a really lovely environment
It’s difficult to balance clinical professionalism and first class quality of fantastic food with a relaxed, warm and friendly environment delivered by great service - but this is how I would describe our lunch at l’autre. The emphasis on excellent ingredients and imagination going into the hard work of preparing the essential components of each course was immediately obvious. Presentation was fantastic but didn’t detract from the delivery of a meal which was delivered in perfect portion sizes whilst also displaying the delicious food to best effect. Whatever you do, don’t miss the Welsh beef or the Gigondas! Recommended 100%
Be the first to ReplySuperb birthday dinner
I was invited to Odette’s for my birthday dinner. I had never been before but I will definitely be going back! We sat outside and the service was efficient and professional. The food was really delicious and beautifully presented. I had the tomato vol- au-vent starter, which was perfect with its various coloured tomato topping, followed by the lamb which was cooked to perfection, and a fabulous strawberry panacotta dessert . I had a lovely G&T with elderflower cocktail to start. Everything was just perfect with a very skilful and attentive waiter, without being intrusive. I would highly recommend this restaurant- a real gem of a place! Thank you for making my evening so enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyReally tasty food, great service and a great location
OK, so it was a lovely warm evening and I sat outside on their front terrace and Primrose Hill was buzzing, but unless the food and wine were delicious I wouldn’t give such a good review. The service was excellent, and top tip, leave room for their signature desert. It was described by the waiter as a Jaffa cake x 1000, but it’s better than that.

This was our first visit to Odette’s but won’t be our last: The flavours were fresh and delicious - I had the scallop ceviche starter which was devine as was the bread. Fabulous all round, including the service, and fully deserves it’s Michelin recommendation.

Location On a lovely street (Regents Park Road) in Primrose Hill. Due to having our canine family member in tow, we took a table for four outside on the front terrace. Food To celebrate a birthday, three of us had the tasting menu and one had the vegetarian tasting menu. All six courses on both menus received equal praise. High quality food and presentation, without going over the top on the accessories. Service Our Scottish waiter was also excellent. Appropriately friendly and attentive, but also down to earth. Highly recommended and not bad value for money at £80 per head for 6 courses, as well as soda bread and snacks to whet the appetite and coffee/tea and petit four to end the meal.

What a delightful meal at Odette's last week. All six of us would have given 10/10. The crab starter was delicate but fresh as a daisy, punctuated with piquant apple gel and seaweed crackers. The ham hock terrine was a winner and there was much praise for the chicken with confit of the leg stuffed in a more mushroom. The fish catch of the day was cod and was superb. A lot of lip smacking went on for the treacle tart and I loved the carefully selected cheeses. The service was charming and I can't wait to go back. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Small portions but beautifully executed and not "emperor's new clothes".

Lovely setting for this French resteraunt in the back garden. Superb service and food. And Sunday lunch was good value
Be the first to ReplyBirthday treat.
Travelled down to London from N Wales to have a special 60th birthday sunday lunch treat at Odette's. It was fantastic, the food was superb the service and staff equally good. Couldn't thank the whole team enough, they were marvellous.
Even got the opportunity to explain the reason for my visit was my mum's name was Odette and for that reason i'd always wanted to eat there.
Highly recommended, one of the best culinary experiences i've had.
Mothers Day
Whilst the food was as good as ever, being pressed to order all 3 courses up front ‘because they were busy’ wasn’t great, especially as we arrived early to our table. Our waiter (who was front of house) was not terribly affable and seemed a bit put out that we had a child with us. We had to ask for a plate and fork for my granddaughter and when we asked for extra bread were brought along 2 tiny pieces. Odette’s food is great but something has changed in its service in the last two years and sadly it’s not an improvement.

A fantastic meal to celebrate a special birthday with friends. Odettes has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and the service is excellent. We took advantage of the January special deal of 3 courses for £30 and were not disappointed. A limited choice on the menu but we were extremely satisfied with the quality of the meal. Faultless! Having travelled from North Wales we were delighted to meet Bryn himself. Can’t wait to visit again. Diolch Bryn.

Took my wife for a Sunday treat before we are invaded by our grown up children for Christmas.
The two course meal we had was a fantastic experience. The wine and coffee complemented everything.

BTW the soufflé was incredible
Highly recommend *****
Another fantastic meal at Odette’s
What a fabulous meal. We really can’t understand why this restaurant doesn’t have at least one Michelin Star. Primrose Hill is lucky to have such a great restaurant, which clearly draws people to it from far and wide. Well done Bryn and Tom ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Be the first to ReplyGourmet lunch and excellent service
The place is small, nicely decorated, calm atmosphere allowing to talk without shouting. The food was beautifully presented and tasted very good. Service was very friendly and efficient.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing night, great food, outstanding service
We had a superb night at Odette's to celebrate my cousin and I 30th birthdays. We had a great private dinner in the Library space for 15 people.
From the beginning the restaurant manager was very helpful to set up the dinner.
The group set menu offered a variety of options (unlike other places in London) and it felt like a tailor-made experience. Wine selection was great too (we also brought some of our own bottles for a reasonable corkage fee)
The food was super tasty, good ingredients, lovely presentation.
Service was outstanding. Thank you very much!
Missed opportunity
It was a special occasion and unfortunately Odette's missed the opportunity to celebrate with us although my husband went to great lengths to explain why. The food was good, but we would not return as there are so many other restaurants that serve nice food and appreciate it is the small amounts of additional effort that count.
