Omakase room by Maaser New York Reviews from The Last Year
I had the pleasure of experiencing the omakase (17 piece)
I had the pleasure of experiencing the omakase (17 piece) at this restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. My boyfriend had been raving about it, so when a friend offered to take me while he was at work, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. The quality of the fish was exceptional--so fresh and tender--that each bite was a delight. While the preparation leaned towards the modern and inventive side rather than traditional, the risks they took truly paid off. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the overall experience. Considering the price point, I believe it's definitely worth a try. There were several standout pieces, but my personal favorite was the wagyu spoon--it was like a flavor rollercoaster in my mouth, with its soft, tender texture and incredible taste. Truly a memorable omakase.
Loved the omakase (17 piece) at this spot.
The quality of the fish was great - so fresh and tender. The preparation is definitely less traditional, more modern and inventive, but they take a lot of risks and nail them. I will say that I was sad they seared the otoro since that's so good raw, but everything else I tried here was awesome. The drink options aren't the most impressive, and the decor/service are maybe not what you'd find with a traditional Japanese spot, but I really enjoyed my meal and experience here and think it's worth a try at the price point. Definitely some pieces that were standouts!
First time to try Omakase and didn't disappoint.
I like every sushi I ate. At first we ordered a 12 course sushi and during the eating process our eyes got bigger and bigger because every bite taste different. All sushi are delicious, fresh and one of a kind. We then upgraded to 17 course meal and we keep on eating until our belly is full. The only thing I don't like is the price $180 including tip and tax.
Overpriced for the quality! I love omakase so I was excited
Overpriced for the quality! I love omakase so I was excited to give this one a try. The fishes were not fresh and I had a hard time differentiating the difference between each piece. Each fish tastes the same, bland and not fresh. $135 for 17 low quality pieces is not worth it at all. There are so many better and more affordable omakase places in the city. Can skip this one.
The food was perfect Service was attentive, but
The food was perfect Service was attentive, but not Intrusive. Good noise level and comfortable while feeling intimate. Highly recommend this omakase.
I've tried probably close to 20 omakase restaurants over
I've tried probably close to 20 omakase restaurants over the past few years, and this is by far my favorite. I've been back at least 5 times and I always leave satisfied. Chefs are friendly too! Intimate space but not crowded.
The best sushi I have ever had.
Handled with care and made from the freshest fish. Perfection and I go whenever Im back in the neighborhood
Wonderful Omakase at a reasonable price.
We had the 17-course menu for $135 and it was a great experience. The fish was very fresh and pieces were so creative. Service was friendly and attentive in a very comfortable, intimate room. We were there for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon when the restaurant was relatively quiet which gave it a very private atmosphere.
I had high expectations going to Maaser since I read
I had high expectations going to Maaser since I read reviews before I made the decision to come. I have only had 4 Omakase experience prior but I have regular sushi and sashimi on a monthly basis. Coming from San Francisco and Hong Kong, I have had some memorable pieces and was hoping Maaser could amaze me. Maaser certainly did not disappoint. It's a 4.5 stars Omakase overall. There were good and bad, but I'd say more good than the other. Bad thing is they charge 17 courses for $135 because 3 of them were Salmon/Ocean Trout and 4 of them were Tuna (1 lean and 3 toro). That said, I was kinda bummed that they didn't replace 2 or 3 of them with other kinds of fish or dishes to show customers more varieties. However, the good things kinda pulled me away from the bad. The flavors of most of the courses were pretty amazing and a few of them were actually mindblowing. I appreciate the different ingredients they served with the main fish/shellfish to add layers and enrich flavors, such as the salmon with onion and cherry tomato, and also the unagi with avocado, seaweed and the crunch. I assure they taste way better than my descriptions here and you will be surprised in a good way once you have tried it. I can tell they have put a lot of hard work in every single course. Most of the Omakase out there aim for customers to taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients they use, mostly want customers to taste the original flavor, sometimes enhancing them with the chef's cutting skills or/and their secret sauces. Maaser is different, they go for an extra mile and make everything unique. Once you have tried once, you may be able to find a better Omakase after, but no Omakase could replace Maaser's uniqueness and that will be why you would want to go back to Maaser.
Delicious, fresh, not crowded, low key, delicious,
Delicious, fresh, not crowded, low key, delicious, beautiful presentation, interior could be a little better but still very classy, great deal for sushi price

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
