My wife and I were flying into SFO and decided last minute to go for dinner upon arrival. At 3pm we made our reservation online scheduled for 8:30pm later that same evening. Our flight was delayed due to bad weather in SFO and we updated Omakase via text message immediately advising that we couldn't make 8:30pm. Omakase responded asking if 9pm worked - we said yes. We arrived at the baggage carousel however our baggage did not make it. We texted Omakase again to advise of our situation and stated that we would not be able to make the reservation (again we booked at 3pm the same day!). There was no response. 25 minutes later we wrote back, again saying we did not have luggage and only the same full day travel clothes we had on - not in line with dress code. Finally they responded asking if we wanted to reschedule for another date - we declined has we were travelling to a wedding event in Napa. Our credit card was charged for the full cost of 2 tasting menus...$725.78 CAN. Interestingly in the act of offering us reservations for a different date Omakase implicitly waived this egregious penalty - my brother-in-law is a lawyer, we are considering whether it is worth further time and stress to pursue legal action. Shabby service considering we can prove our flight was delayed and that we didn't receive our luggage until 5pm the next day...I hope they take steps to rectify this situation...if they can't under legitimate circumstances, I think it should serve as a warning to anyone considering booking a reservation at Omakase.
