Lovely lunch with good friendly service.
Unpretentious good food with approachable wines. Lovely and yet unobtrusive service. Please ask for a table at the back during lunch - the natural light from the sky roof added to the cost vibe.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food in Nottinghill
Orasay is located in Nottinghill just a block away from the Portobello Road Market which was very crowded, probably as usual, when I was there on Saturday. It’s a nice size restaurant, open and bright. I had a great red vermouth from Oregon - I’m from the states and didn’t know Oregon made vermouth! It was a great intro to the restaurant. Then I had 3 oysters that were served with a raspberry sauce and a thin slice of cucumber, very good and fresh. Then a scallop served on a shell with diced celeriac and shiitake mushrooms sitting in a nice vin juane sauce. Dessert was a light delicious chocolate sitting a bit of white chocolate mousse. Service was excellent - friendly, helpful and efficient. If I had more time I would definitely go back and try more of the unique menu items.

Food was pretty good..though not sure about the Whitebait starters. Gosh the service was terrible. You order your drink and then wait 20 mins later. Waiter doesn’t realise you have not got your drinks so you need ti try and get their attention if you can. How long does it take to bring a bottle of wine out. We got our starters first! Then we tried to order some more items..then that too takes forever. Both to order and receive. Totally disjointed! Oh and then your drinks arrive much later if you order seconds.

Really great menu, and really well executed. Especially recommend the scallops if they have them. Staff really chilled and helpful too.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and service
Had a lovely evening . Food was amazing and the service excellent. Would highly recommend the scallops, prawns, john dory and steak but all the dishes were really tasty.
Be the first to ReplyVery very disappointing
It’s not often I feel the need to review a restaurant as soon as I get back home. Orasay was the worst night out I’ve had for a long time. I believe that as you sit down the server should say what would you like to drink. We waited 15 minutes before they asked that. I drink whiskey and Diet Coke. They didn’t have Diet Coke. So I’m already unhappy. My first course was scallops. There were 6 tiny scallops on the plate the rest was filled up with empty shells. They were tasty but totally inadequate as a starter. My main course was lemon soul on the bone. It was full of bones. I managed to get about 6 small mouthfuls of fish. It was tasty but again totally inadequate. The chips were like m and s oven chips. The service was very slow. We considered not paying the service but we felt that the staff were trying, they were just overwhelmed. It worked out at £60 per head and I came home and had something to eat as I was still hungry.
I spoke to the manageress and told her exactly what I thought. She was very apologetic but that doesn’t really help. In conclusion I won’t be eating there again.
Service non-existent
The food is unquestionable top notch, however the service is truly some of the poorest I've experienced in London. We had to ask the staff after about 10mins of sitting down to take our drinks orders (no apology for this).
Once our starter plates were finished we had to stack them up ourselves on the adjacent table....they were left there for a good 5mins.
It's a real shame as the food is great, however the level of service really doesn't add up.
Mediocre
Came here on a rainy night expecting a good meal after reading the reviews and the recommendation from a friend. Our dinner was not up to the hype. Everything was ok but not great. To top it off, none of the staff wore face coverings. There are better places in Nottinghill.
Be the first to ReplyRich and delightful
An absolute gem in Notting Hill, just a short walk from Portebello Road. Staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was excellent. Rich and full of flavour, I will definitely be returning. A particular highlight was the whipped cods roe and fried torbay prawns

Be the first to ReplyDon't waste your time or money
Food was mediocre yet horrifically expensive, and the server was incredibly condescending to my wife and I, despite the fact that he probably couldn't afford to eat there.
The area is littered with nice independent restaurants. Go elsewhere.
Good, but not cheap and portions small
The food is good and the service is friendly, but the portions are really small. Despite having nibbles, a starter and a main, left feeling hungry!! If it wasn’t for the fries things would have been more desperate. The outdoor seating is great and highly recommended - hopefully it stays for good.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced, rude, mediocre and pretentious
Just don’t bother. This is one of the few times I wish I could leave zero stars. This place is so far up itself it’s a bit difficult to comprehend. The food is exceptionally overpriced and mediocre at best. You will either leave poor or hungry - maybe both. And the pretentious aging hipster running the show there is so incredibly rude - we were treated like they were doing us a favor by letting us eat there. We arrived around 5:30pm on Saturday night without a reservation and were told that we could only have the table for one hour or so which is understandable, considering, and we honestly didn’t need it for any longer than that anyway. We were sat for 15 minutes before even being waited on, then when we asked for any recommendations we were met with a blank stare. We tried asking about the honey margarita and were told “it’s a margarita” with a shoulder shrug. By comparison, when the table next to us asked the exact same question to the exact same pretentious old hipster, they received a full opinionated description. In fact, the table seated next to us received a warm welcome, an explanation of the menu and were offered polite opinions regarding the items on it. He genuinely fell all over himself trying to make these people feel welcome. We were actually shocked by the behavior of this man. We’ve never been deliberately treated in such a poor manner before by anyone, all the while having to sit and watch others be treated like gold. We live in the neighborhood and were en route to the airport, so perhaps we were treated so terribly because they thought we were tourists? In any event, please do yourself a favor and choose somewhere else to eat in this wonderful neighborhood. There are loads of lovely restaurants around, we just got very unlucky choosing this one. Hopefully it won’t be around long.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect summer spot to pretend you are by the coast!
Back to orasay post lockdown with perhaps a shorter menu but the same usual touches of simple genius. Seems silly to say but the sponginess bread and whipped butter is always a good start and this weeks highlight of ceviche with yoghurt and jalapeño was the perfect summer food, fusing Mediterranean flavours with a pinch of Peruvian method. Richard the maitre d’ was knowledgeable and helpful in his recommendations, highly recommended.
