Fast and friendly service. Tried this spot while visiting London. I had ravioli and it was tasty.

Delicious food, authentic and homely atmosphere at a reasonable price- I love it here. You can also BYOB or get take away (if you go and collect). Great service, highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyNot at all what it was when it opened.
I used to live & work in Italy, so fussy about Italian food - this was really authentic & very good back then. But standards have changed, calves liver was overcooked, sauté potatoes tasted very odd (margarine, is that possible? it's how they tasted, though i couldn't be sure, not at all nice anyway). I had a booking, but there was no table available when I last tried here, had to stand waiting for over 30 minutes, which rather defeats the point of booking, BYO is great, corkage is reasonable, pizzas are decent. But though it still has merits, a nice buzzy/busy atmosphere, service is friendly though very erratic, it's hard to get past 3 stars, and 2.5 would be fairer. A shame, after such a good start.

A really nice Italian, hidden in East Finchley, which serves fresh pasta and pizza. The portion sizes are generous, so will fill you up.The staff are really friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is always busy, which is a good sign!

This home owned cafe style restaurant serves decent hand made pasta and spaghetti, as well as other traditional Italian food. The service here is good, the owner and staff were friendly. Food wise. The spaghetti were very fresh and packed with flavours, although I'd say the portions are a little small. So if you're really hungry be prepared to spend double the money. I'd also like to see a bit more toppings in my pasta, cos the last few times I've been here it seemed like I came for a plate of different flavour plain noodles.
Be the first to ReplyI am just in love with this place.
The food is absolutely amazing (I would indeed have it for a last meal on earth) and the staff is super friendly. Occasionally it gets a bit too loud, but enthusiastic patrons is the price to pay for really, really tasty food.So far I've had various types of pasta, pizzas and the risotto, all wonderful. If you go there do order the Gamberoni al Brandy as an entree (shrimp in Brandy sauce) and you won't regret it (order some garlic bread as well to go with the sauce, so you don't feel tempted to lick the plate). The only drawback to this place is, if you're hungry and happen to get a table during a busy period, you need to be prepared to wait a bit too long. The first time I went there I waited 30 minutes for the entree and more than an hour for the main course, but guess what? I keep coming back because this is just a minor detail when food is just so, so, SO good.

Just to add that it is not only in the evening you can get restaurant meals here. The pizzas are really crispy traditional Italian but there are good other choices too, lovely starters and all great for the price. If you forget to bring wine there's a handy off licence over the road. A nice tucked away part of East Finchley. Definitely book.

This was my third visit to La Rugoletta and as far as I am concerned, it gets better and better. To start with, I chose the mixed salami platter with garlic pizza bread, which I shared with my husband as it was such a generous portion - absolutely delicious! This was followed by calves' liver. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to sample calves' liver in many excellent restaurants; my verdict: this was the best I have ever tasted! The service was friendly, efficient and unobtrusive, and I would strongly recommend La Rugoletta to anyone who enjoys good, "home-cooked", Italian cuisine.

I admit that I'm usually no lover of Italian food, mainly because I regard pasta as a cheap way of piling on the pounds. However, after a thoroughly delightful Saturday evening meal at this little gem of a restaurant, I have now fallen in love with Italian cuisine. The starter was moules cooked in a tomato and garlic sauce - sensational, and I don't like tomatoes! The calves' liver was by far the best I've ever tasted, the beans crunchy without being raw, the potatoes absolute perfection. What really impressed me was that, on an obviously very busy Saturday night, all the food was served hot enough to remain in that condition throughout the meal. I'm the world's worst restaurant customer: if food isn't served hot, it gets sent straight back to the kitchen (usually accompanied by some well-chosen words of criticism). I can think of a number of so-called "good" restaurants who should take lessons from La Rugoletta.......This is how to produce good food of exemplary quality and reasonable price. Do yourself - and your taste-buds - a favour: have a meal here (but take your own wine; the restaurant does not have an alcohol licence). However, do book well in advance; La Rugoletta is justifiably very popular.
