Authentic dishes and a great experience!
Such a fantastic final dinner in London. Great service, interesting specials and wines. Would definitely return next time we are in town.
Be the first to ReplyNot bad.
Nice dining room and pleasant staff. Food tasty but not special, short menu so may be tricky for some to have a good selection. Quality food but overall lacked atmosphere and so felt underwhelmed.
Be the first to ReplyVery Disappointing
Bitterly disappointed. Booked a table for two for my wife's birthday on Saturday 27th. Arrived at allotted time to be told, "Sorry, we've had a power cut" we can't offer any service. The manager lied, in that he said he's been trying to contact me, but no calls, missed calls, text messages or e-mails received. We weren't offered a complimentary drink, or any assistance in finding somewhere else to eat, even though the Pizarro tapas bar is about 30 metres up the same street. Very annoyed, and, had it been me that cancelled, I would have been charged a £15.00 per person no show charge. Received an e-mail on Sun 28th, saying that they "...were sorry that I had cancelled my booking". Complete rubbish. We will not be going back, there are far better restaurants nearby. Pizarro staff and managements attitude, "there's nothing we can do, your on your own. I wonder what Jose himself, or Fred Sirieix would say to such uncaring and unhelpful staff.

Atmosphere was perfect, busy but not too loud. The food was absolutely delicious, simple dishes packing so much flavour. The service were exceptional…Orlagh went above and beyond and made our lunch one to remember. ♥️
Be the first to ReplySome of the best Spanish tapas outside of spain
Some of the best Spanish tapas I have had outside of Spain. The food was of a really high standard, the Croquetas were delicious, the suckling lamb (Pierna de cordero lechal) was amazing, Pizzaro's own Rose was delicious and what made it was the staff were really attentive, explain the dishes and provided great recommendations, which compliment the experience taking it from good to great. 100% will be going back and 10/10 would recommend.
Be the first to ReplyIf you want a taste of Spain
An authentic Spanish restaurant without cheating. The food is what you get in the old town of Madrid Incredibly nice staff. A skilled head chef from the USA who also put up with my curious questions. The wine list is small but a good selection of Spanish wines. See you again 👌
Be the first to ReplyWonderful lunch to celebrate several birthdays around this time.
We had a reservation for 6 and so were allocated a side room. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel welcome by the friendly and helpful staff. over our aperitifs, with some help, we chose our starters, main courses and wines. The service was efficient and we shared out all the dishes so were were all able to taste the excellent food.
Be the first to ReplyTrue Spanish flavours!
Booked for lunch, after searching for something that promised an authentic Spanish experience and it did not disappoint. We shared 2 different croquetas (crisp perfection), red raw shrimps (fresh and zingy), squid and morcilla (intriguing flavours), pan con tomate (4 generous slices packing a real tomato taste) followed by a delicious tart and a proper Spanish cheese selection. A cocktail, a manazilla and a carafe of excellent rose (Jose) rounded off our delectable lunch. Hope to return!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent selection of tapas
We enjoyed an excellent selection of tapas at this small but very busy venue, while on a broader visit to some other delights that Bermondsey Street has to offer. The friendly staff were to quick to bring our food and, it must be said, the excellent wines we chose to wash it all down with. Of particular note is the padron peppers, not especially hot but truly delicious, as is the patatas bravas. Excellent place, excellent prices. We will go back soon
Be the first to ReplyNot what it once was ...
I have eaten regularly at this place since it opened. Sadly, the last couple of visits mean I shall not be returning again. A combination of inconsistent food, and service, on more than one occasion, and increasingly high prices result in an experience that disappoints. To give some specifics. First, the food. The cockles in green basque sauce and the sepia la plancha were really poor. Both appear to consist of (the same?) unpleasant 'gloopy' sauce with precious little flavour (akin to the liquor in a pie and mash shop, like 'Manze' around the corner). Some fresh herbs or even a little seasoning wouldn't go amiss. Moreover, the cockles, which were replaced with clams, consisted of just 10 of the smallest clams I have ever seen, with grit. Eighteen pounds for this dish is frankly extortionate. Other dishes - particularly the vegetable options - proved better. The wine while pleasant was similarly punchy in price. The Pizarro cava was just shy of £60 and glasses of perfectly nice but not extraordinary red wine were hitting £18 a pop, which must amount to a mark up somewhere between 300 and 400%. The service moved from initially excellent and attentive to completely non-existent. It took over 30 minutes to pay our bill, with multiple requests. We are not wallflowers who struggle to get attention, this was simply ridiculous. To add insult to injury the bill includes an incredible 13.5% service change, resulting in a bill that was well over £100 per person.
Be the first to ReplyGio walks us through the menu
Lunch today was such a treat. Giovanni - our lovely waiter - patiently & passionately talked us through the menu. Telling us stories about each dish & drink, including how to best enjoy them that made us fall in love with the food before we even ate it!! His knowledge of the dishes and drinks was spectacular. The squid ink & prawn tapa, iberico ham, and lamb main were 100 spot on. The drinks we paired with each course worked so well to bring it all together. The brandy at the end was the icing on the cake.,We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and look forward to dinning with you again

Be the first to ReplySpanish On Bermondsey Street
Pizarro is the up market version of Jose Bar down the Bermondsey Street and like Jose did not disappoint. Very good quality tapa's and good friendly service at realistic prices.
Be the first to ReplyNice restaurant but let down by food prices
Really nice atmosphere and great service, however food was disappointing. Mains were very expensive for the quantity of the food. £28 for a small piece of cod and sweet potato. Left feeling hungry still.
Be the first to ReplyPresentation is excellent, food is tasty.
We had dinner here last night and it was excellent. The service was great, friendly and efficient. The food is carefully prepared and tasty. It’s a shared plates service and we had the prawns, jamon, mushrooms, gem salad and lamb. Everything was tasty and beautiful.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a Shame!!!
After visiting Jose Tapas Bar with my husband and having an incredible meal and service I was so looking forward to trying Pizarro with a good friend. Food was good but we were totally rushed throughout which really spoilt our evening. On ordering our main we were told we had 25min. Our main arrived 10 minutes later so we were expected to leave the table 15 minutes after our main arrived. Completely shocked considering we ordered a bottle of Cava at £53 then red wine. This is not a way to treat paying customers who are spending a lot of money at your restaurant. There were plenty of tables empty later on so didn’t understand the persistence to rush us. Also we would have ordered more if we hadn’t felt so under pressure to vacate the table. What a shame! Purely for this reason we wouldn’t choose to eat here again. However right at the end of our meal we spoke to a lovely Argentinian waiter who clearly understood the importance of customer service and how to communicate with paying customers what a shame he hadn’t been around earlier our experience could of been totally different. My friend and I have eaten at a lot of good restaurants but have never been treated this way, we are not cattle being processed but out for a good evening on a Friday night expecting good food and service. We feel really let down by the whole experience. Our bill was £223 but rather than having a wonderful evening we left with a sour taste in our mouth due to the appalling customer service.

Group of four had a fab experience. Service, ambience, food and wine - all so so good. Will definitely visit again. Such a good vibe with authentic non fussy food. Great recommendations from our server.
Be the first to ReplyAnother brilliant meal
Once again an excellent meal at Pizarros. As it was a Sunday it was a bit quieter than normal but the food, beverage and service were excellent. The mojama, merluza marinada, manzana verde y almendra starter was amazing, and the raw blue belly prawns really good. Of course, the pork was up to its normal standards. Andrea was a perfect host. Looking forward to our next visit.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and delicious cocktail!
Sat down without reservation for lunch. Our dog was welcome which was great. Had some nibbles with a cocktails - one of the best cocktails I had in a long time. Everything was great, although sometimes the food seemed to come a little slow at times, we had to check for 2 of our dishes as they had been missed. Didn’t spoil the experience and great taste. We’ll be back!

Beautiful lunch with my parents at Pizarro. Adriano was the perfect host and the food was exceptional. I will definitely be returning on my next trip from Australia - where I wish Pizarro had a point of presence.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Spanish food in nice busy dining space
Restaurant located at end of Bermondsey st furthest away from London Bridge (10 minute walk). Really nice busy dining space with tables and sit up bar overlooking open kitchen/plancha. Although complete full, service was really attentive and prompt. Full range of really authentic Spanish tapas and mains. Rations of Jamon were not that generous but all high quality dishes and well presented. Great place to go if you love busy tapas style food and service. Excellent wine and sherries list. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful evening
My husband and I visited here on Sunday Dec 18th to celebrate a special birthday. Everything was lovely from the greeting we received when we arrived to the table we were given, the friendly and helpful service and the amazing food. This is the second time I have visited in two weeks and I would go again in a moment. I love Spanish food and spend a lot of time in Spain and this is delicious.
Be the first to Replyexcelente !!!
We ate at this restaurant Saturday night, we didn’t have a reservation but the extremely friendly and welcoming manager was very accommodating and found us a table, the atmosphere was buzzing, friendly and lively and the food did not disappoint……what a lucky find we had! We had a lovely evening, thank you to all the staff at Pizarro, we will definitely return .
Be the first to ReplyToo average for being pushy
MAIN Tapas Selection: _Sourdough with Pizarro extra virgen oil _Jamon Iberico _Croquetas del dia _Raw blue belly prawns with salt and lime _Tomato salad, salmorejo dressing, basil and black olive _ Grilled squid, creamy potato, pine nut and 5J Jamón picada, and Oloroso sherry sauce Desert: Peter’s almond tart, figs and PX ice-cream Rate from 1 to 10: 6.5 The concept of a feast implies abundance and variety and that is what a good selection of Spanish tapas can accomplish in one’s experience without the guilt felt when eating too many of too big dishes. One just jumps from tapas to tapas before exhausting the craving for the continuation of the flavor one just enjoyed... it can be an eternal but pleasing teasing of the taste buds. Of this “light selection” (just 6 tapas) what made it for me was the Jamon Iberico and the Grilled squid. The Jamon Iberico honors that punch that a good Spanish Jamon should provide when in your mouth and the squids because the elegance of the mixing of ingredients complementing nicely the taste of the squid which can be sometimes a bit bland. The other tapas were average for me, no special mention needed. The dessert was a lovely one certainly not too sweet and the figs provided that special touch with the Ice cream. The most surprising taste for sure. Service: 6. Even though the waiter that was assigned to us was attentive and kind it was so upsetting to be asked constantly if we wanted to order something else which the “manager” kept doing too. It damaged the whole experience. The desperation for selling more either for need or for greed is just too much. It does not deserve a coming back.
