quite the experience
This was my first Michelin restaurant, and it was quite the experience. The steak was outstanding. The sides were a bit of a letdown, including the bacon that was lit on fire. The bacon fire was definitely more for show than taste because it did not taste that good. The wine selection was very good, and the desserts were great. The service was a bit in your face but helpful. Very expensive.

Just awesome steak, service, wine and liquors. Unbelievable experience with Gary. Great old fashioned, palm salad and porterhouse.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at the bar at Prime and Provisions. Shout out to Jeff and Star - two excellent bartenders. Jeff basically was our tour guide through the dinner. Suggesting the "bacon" for starters and then sharing a fish dish and a steak. It is a large diverse restaurant and one can choose multiple seating options from the Bar to outside. Food was high in quality and Jeff even had excellent wine suggestions that were not the most expensive wines on the list. always a nice touch.

Good food & pleasant Ladies and Gentlemen but service is extremely slow. I also would point out to stay away from the banana cream pie.
Be the first to ReplyTHE WAITER DREW SAVES VALENTINES DAY!!
My daughter's boyfriend originally had reservations at Kinzie Chophouse. Once they arrived there, the prefixed menu had only seafood options and nontraditional sides. This is surprising and annoying since they are a steakhouse. Yes, the menu was overlooked as the reservation was made, simply because one might think they would have a steak as an option no matter what the occasion! The manager was rude and indifferent and let my daughter and her boyfriend know they could leave and they do not make any substitutions. "Attitude is everything these days." Yes, that is their right, they lost business, and a MUCH BETTER restaurant and waiter were around the corner! TO THE RESCUE WAS PRIME AND PROVISIONS AND THEIR FANTASTIC WAITER DREW! They made room for them to dine in their restaurant and promptly brought over a drink on the house for their terrible experience. Drew has worked there a few months, and he was personable, attentive, and accommodating. They had a prefixed menu which included steak of course, but said their full menu was available as well if anyone asked for something different. THANK YOU DREW FOR BEING UNDERSTANDING AND AWESOME! Thank you Prime and Provisions for having great food, great service, and being non stuffy to your customers!!
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced, Very Noisy, Poor Service
We came without a reservation as they don't accept reservations by phone and their reservation app did not work no matter what I did. In fact one can't even contact them by phone.
The two of us had difficulty hearing one another due to the terribly noisy room.
We ordered steaks: without telling us, they arrived precut. The steak knife was not sharp and this steak restaurant told us they have no serated steak knives. When the main dishes arrived, the plates from the soup and salad had not been removed. So they put the main dishes on the side of the dirty plates. Some of the dirty plates were never removed. After the main course we waited 10 to 15 minutes for those dishes to be removed, another 10 minutes for a desert menu, and another long period before we were asked for our desert order.
During a conversation, the waitress interrupted our conversation, not even waiting for a pause or a nod, in the middle of one of our sentences, to inquire how things were. So disconcerting.
Ah, and the prices, so expensive, way over priced, and even more so considering the terrible service.
Not worth it!
I was surprised by the positive reviews. The steak had an odd consistency and no flavor whatsoever. The clam chowder for a starter was served lukewarm while the potato purée came to the table like it had been microwaved to 1000 degrees.
The dining room is loud, the service is mediocre at best.
I wouldn’t go back here nor do I recommend it. At this price point their are much, much better options for steak in Chicago.
Post Bday lunch on my off days
Lunch @ Prime and Provision steakhouse, Food was great my waiter Walter
was awesome, Only thing one of the drinks was not what was ordered, the bartender screwed the drink order up and second drink had something in it and the third was short I thought it should’ve been comped after second and third try. I forgot the prime rib wasn’t cooked as ordered. Had to send it back to correct to cooking instructions. So I rate the restaurant 4 1/2 stars out of 10 on my scale. And I’m a true foodie. The last time I ordered steak was in Miami @ FountainBleu ordered a tomahawk and it was prepared as I ordered it.
You can find better steakhouses than this
Went to dinner with a work event group in one of their upstairs private rooms. I will say the ambience and staff were very nice. The sides were pretty good. I ordered their wet-aged NY strip steak, as did a few others in our party, as a medium-rare. I figured for a steak house, this should be well within their wheelhouse. It arrived well done, and was very tough and chewy. The others in our party who ordered the NY strip had the same experience. Those who ordered filet, lamb, and fish were quite happy with their dishes and appeared to be cooked to the right temperature. For a steak house that specializes in steaks, I probably should have sent it back to fire another one, but decided to not make a fuss given it was a work dinner.
For the money, I would look elsewhere for a quality steak dinner; there are many excellent steak houses in Chicago. I gave it two stars as I figure a steak house should know how to cook steaks before they become tough and chewy. Sadly, the steak was nearly inedible and I made a dinner out of the sides instead (which were decent).
Outstanding food and good service
This is our third tome here, does not disappoint and always best quality
We had bone in ribeye, huge shrimp appetizer oysters Rockefeller and raw, Dover sole almondine, flaming dessert filet mignon
Food quality fantastic service good considering labor shortage
Exquisite!
It was our first visit at Prime and Provisions and we were treated wonderful from the second we stepped until we walked out. The ambiance was elegant and we received a warm welcome from our waiter, all the supporting staff was courteous and attentive. The food was amazing! Kudos to the manager for handling so well a rude and loud customer. We appreciate having such great celebration thanks to all the staff tonight! Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyWhoever heard of a 500-square-foot dry aging room and a 1,200-degree broiler?
Prime & Provisions, one of Chicago's leading steakhouses, does everything in a BIG way. Located at 222 North LaSalle Street, at LaSalle and Wacker, overlooking the Chicago River, it is a sprawling, swanky steakhouse offering classic dishes in a deluxe setting with marble bars, intimate booths and a patio for cigars. It also features a 500-square-foot dry aging room lined with Himalayan rock salt meant to enhance the rich and unique flavors of the natural beef. And it sears the beef in a 1,200-degree broiler, then serves it on a sizzling hot plate topped with sea salt and Wisconsin all-natural grass-fed butter. It is open from 4 to 11:30 on Monday, 11:30 to 11:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday, 11:30 to midnight on Thursday, 4 to 12:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 to 11 on Sunday. Executive chef Joseph Rizza offers a delicious menu of appetizers, salads, soups, steaks, seafood and desserts that has attracted rave reviews since the restaurant opened in 2015. My wife and I started with shrimp cocktail, a bowl of New England clam chowder and a Wedge salad with baby iceberg lettuce, charred red endive, thick-cut bacon, gorgonzola, cucumbers, purple onion and tomato. For an entree, my wife chose Dover Sole with confit potatoes and sauteed asparagus. I couldn't resist the eight-ounce Kobe New York strip with baked potato, aged cheddar and bacon and sauteed spinach. For dessert, we shared a prime sundae with bruleed banana, neopolitan ice cream, chocolate toffee cookies and hot fudge.
Be the first to ReplyFood good, service not so much
Was there for a business dinner on a weeknight. Food was good but not exceptional in proportion to prices. Beverage refills and wine service were excellent, however our waiter was rushed, unfriendly and ignored several requests. There are better options in a city known for great dining.
