Providence Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
They don't serve normal food or drinks, they only serve
They don't serve normal food or drinks, they only serve heaven on plates and in glasses. I have no idea what the name of my drink was but I never had anything like it. UH-MAZING. That was before I ate a bite. Doesn't matter what you get, because my party got half the menu and we tasted. Everything was fit for an emperor. UH-MAZING. Most of us didn't even realize food could taste this way. Never had anything like it but I very much hope to again. Didn't know service could be that kind of good. Absurdly expensive, yes, but worth twice the price. If you can afford it, you most definitely should eat here or drink here or just walk in the front door for a smell. UH-MAZING.
My birthday dinner at Providence in Los Angeles was an
My birthday dinner at Providence in Los Angeles was an absolute delight, and a big part owing to the fantastic service which was incredibly courteous and thoughtful, making us feel truly special. The ambiance was romantic and indulgent, setting the perfect tone for a memorable birthday treat. While the food was delicious, I did find it to be on the salty side. Although considering Providence's seafood specialty, maybe I'm just not used to the brininess that surprised me with some of the dishes. I liked the Asian influence in a lot of the dishes. The wagyu was an absolute standout, melting in my mouth with every bite. I've never had such a thick cut of wagyu and it was such a treat. I'm glad our server talked me into the upgrade! The drinks were delicious and thoughtfully made too, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal. One aspect that truly impressed me was the use of in-house grown or made ingredients, adding a unique and thoughtful touch to each dish. And let's not forget about the granola they send you home with - absolutely delicious! Parking is either valet or there's a lot of street parking. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Providence. It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in LA.
Perfection is an understatement.
Expectations are left at the door because Providence exceeds any idea of an expectation you even think you could have. Excellence is achieved in every single aspect you knew, and every single way you did not even remotely imagine could be possible. I had a solo dinner on Friday and as soon as I entered, the host was incredibly kind and asked my name directly, confirming it was for my reservation. I sat at the bar which, at first, I was a bit hesitant but upon finishing this experience, the bar is an absolutely amazing place to enjoy a Providence dinner. My bartender Kim was a fantastic human and an incredible bartender. Of course the menu is set but I added a few supplemental items like the Uni Egg, Truffle Riosotto, and A5 Wagyu. I also ordered a couple drinks. I'll start with the drinks. The first, Japanese Penicillin, was incredible. Smooth, bold, sharp, refreshing, tart, sour, it was one of the best cocktails I've ever had. One of the other best cocktails I've ever had was my second drink, the Suavecito. An off-menu special for the night, I was confused when it was first served, as, pictured, it's clear. When one of the waitresses first explained that it used coconut milk, guava, etc, I expected it to be sweet and "colorful". But this clear glass of liquid heaven was INSANE. It was so light and smooth while still packing a punch with flavor and the booze. Now for that service. I think I encountered 20 people, between hosts, wait staff, bussers, bartenders, and of course, Chef Michael Ciramusti himself! Chef was waiting for me at the front before leaving and I had the chance to not only thank him endlessly, but chat a bit about some dishes and just the overall experience. He couldn't be more humble, gracious, and talented. Every single member of staff was so genuinely kind. Not the "I'm gunna be nice for a bigger tip" but the "I love working here, I enjoy serving these people, and I am proud to represent this two Michelin star establishment". The food was, simply put, to die for. Every single dish was perfect. The Amuse Bouche alone kicked me off to such a great start that I would've been happy ending it right then and there. But wait - THERE WAS MORE! Uni Egg. Unequivocally Excellent. Uni with mushrooms. Fantastic. One Potato, Two Potato - a classic redefined and revolutionized. Tai Sashimi. Profound. Sourdough Loaf from Tehachapi. Cozy home warmth. Truffle Risotto. Sublime. Wagyu. Bold. Salmon. Heaven sent. Scallop. Simply put? The best scallop I've ever had. Striped Bass. Traditions. All the chocolate was like what you want every Valentine's chocolate to actually be. Those 3-4 plates of chocolate brought Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Hawai'i, right to your mouth. The chocolate tea was MIND BLOWING. You smell hot chocolate. You drink literally "chocolate tea". WHAT. And that citrus fruit dessert was like waking up and dying on an orange grove. Seriously. Anyone who says otherwise about Providence needs a psychiatric evaluation. I'm ready to come back and I'm ready to experience this all over again.
Came here for a birthday.
I made a reservation two months in advance. The tasting menu was phenomenal. Everything was so good and cooked so well. For the main, I opted for the salmon and my boyfriend got the wagyu. The salmon was cooked perfectly and I definitely recommend it. The service was amazing and very attentive. They gave us our menu which said "Happy Birthday" and granola to take home with us.
Highest quality meal I have ever had.
Something I wouldn't even want to indulge in often because it was so special. Of course we had to get the uni egg and salt roasted Santa Barbara spot prawns outside of the prefixed menu. Everything was divine. Our server Ivar was above and beyond knowledgeable, kind, and witty. The restaurant had an atmosphere that felt extremely high end but not gaudy or pretentious. I savored the entire experience and can't find a single reason they don't have 3 stars at this point. But when they do, I'll be back!
Once in a life experience! Their food, ambiance and service
Once in a life experience! Their food, ambiance and service was superb! Each piece was a work of art. Initially you see the food and think so little?!? Why can't they serve couple pieces of each but by the time you get your first dessert dish you're absolutely full! But there are two more dessert dishes! So make sure you come with an empty hungry stomach! Their cocktail was really good too. Also because it's a course meal you should expect to spend at least 3 hours to eat the full course. I'd suggest the earliest time when the restaurant opens.
I thoroughly enjoyed eating at @providencela .
Providence is a 2 Michelin star restaurant located on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. The staff and food were amazing and so was the decor!!! My most favorite bites were the Salt Prawn and the Uni Egg. If you have a chance to try this restaurant, you should definitely go!!! Here is everything I enjoyed. 1. Bee's Sneeze Cocktail 2. Amuse - Bouche 3. One Potato, two potato 4. Shima Aji 5. Salt Prawn 6. Sunset Boulevardier 7. Uni egg with Caviar 8. Hokkaido scallop 9. Bread 10. Halibut 11. Vermilion Rockfish 12. A5 Wagyu 13. Peach, almond, shiso 14. House-made Hawaiian dark chocolate
What an absolutely gorgeous experience! The food and wine
What an absolutely gorgeous experience! The food and wine easily deserve another star...on par, or better, than any 3 Michelin we've had. Every bite was a masterclass in elegance, balance, and beauty. The somm was charming and provided perfect pairings throughout the evening. If I'm being hyper-critical to the point of silliness, there were the tiniest of minute hiccups in the service that didn't impact our experience in the slightest but could explain why they haven't gotten their third star. Nonetheless, we felt it was a perfect evening and are so thankful to have a destination-worthy restaurant of this caliber in Los Angeles. Bravo Providence!

My husband and I went for dinner on a Thursday night for our anniversary. It was amazing. The food was delicious! We ordered all the extras as well as the chefs tasting menu offered because it all sounded so good and I'm so glad we did! The service was impeccable- all the staff were very attentive and considerate. We sat at the bar in the front and enjoyed the bar - drinks were perfect. I loved the quiet - that I could talk to my husband and actually hear him. Overall it was well worth it and I would love to go back.
Great dining experience! Never disappointing.
The atmosphere is typical for a Michelin-star restaurant. Love that some of the produce is freshly grown on the rooftop 'farm'.
Very overpriced, over rated
Due to last-minute reservations at the bar next to another individual from New Orleans area. We both thought the restaurant was overrated and overpriced (food good, not outstanding at these prices) certainly compared to even Paris or New York City. But was particularly annoying to me is I thought they missed giving me 1 of the courses and rather than replacing it up as each of the courses were very tiny, they said no, you're given a course. Obviously they do not believe that the customers always right.
A must-visit for food enthusiasts.
Dining at Providence in Los Angeles was a culinary voyage that celebrated the flavors of the sea and the art of fine dining. The restaurant’s elegant and contemporary ambiance set the stage for an exceptional meal. The menu was a symphony of fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients, highlighting the richness of Californian cuisine. The tasting menu was a journey into creative dishes and exquisite flavors. The staff’s knowledge of the menu and their dedication to culinary excellence made the dining experience truly exceptional. Pairing the dishes with wines from the extensive list was a delightful exploration of the region’s gastronomy. Providence is not just a restaurant; it’s a tribute to the beauty of fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a must-visit for anyone seeking an exceptional gastronomic experience in Los Angeles.
dinner with friends,
Excellent experience in this restaurant, fine cuisine while maintaining a look at tradition. Pasta and Meat all very good
Wow, Wow, Wow!!
Friends surprised us by booking the Chef's Table. I wish the evening could be recorded to include smell and taste. Every course was superb and excellently paired with a wine which was explained by the sommelier. The activity in the kitchen was fascinating. We weren’t at all rushed but the evening went much too fast for this amazing culinary evening.
in Los Angeles.
Providence is an exceptional dining establishment that exemplifies the pinnacle of fine dining in Los Angeles.
excellent
Everyone knows this restaurant. It's the top of the top. You can eat different plates of different cultures and also in a really sophisticated way.
Sublime dining experience
Well deserved reputation as one of the top restaurants in Los Angeles. We had their multi-course prix fixe menu and the experience was sublime. All courses were delicious and beautifully presented/plated. The service was attentive. The pace was leisurely.
A Meal for the Memories
This was our annual trek to Providence from OC. A 90 minute drive up that's usually abt a 30 minute drive home (though this visit, the PGA US Open was in town and doubled our time home). We rarely return twice to a fine dining location unless it's really THAT good...and Providence is one of those rare restaurants. Over the years, I've become a fan of Mr Donato Poto and he's part of the reason I return. His FOH table-side manners are just so exquisite, understated and lovely. Last year, I dined at another Michelin starred restaurant and had a chat with the chef; he asked what my favourite restaurant was. How do you answer THAT question? He said he wouldn't be offended and would appreciate a frank answer; so I told him on balance of food and service, it would be Providence for fine dining. And then he added, that, yes, chefs Michael Cimarusti and Tristan Aitchison create delicious menus and the service by Mr Poto is one that's hard to beat. So Mr Poto has fans in other chefs. Anyway, to my dismay, Mr Poto wasn't there that evening. But, his son Nick was. Mr Nick Poto, like his father, was generous and gracious. He was also friendly, energetic and kind, as was our server Ivar. We were in good hands. Also, the restaurant underwent a gorgeous remodel this spring. It felt like a nice, romantic, adult, elevated grotto, awash in oceanic green. There were fewer tables, adding to a more exclusive ambiance. It was a nice change. The food was delicious. This summer, the menu tasted more French inspired with the sauces. Before, the flavours were more Japanese-inspired; clean, vibrant, yet subtle. This go-around, it was more luscious, requiring us to use the red fife sourdough to get every bit of the sauce. And there was one dish that had red shiso, that was so yummy it blew my mind. As a fan of seafood, I love returning here each year. My favourites of the evening are depicted below; of those, the playful One Potato Two Potato caviar dish was stunning. I've had caviar at the Petrossian Cafe inside Tiffany's a month prior and Providence's was better than anything they offered. The amuse bouche always delights, as does the salt-roasted spot prawns served table-side, the chocolate husk tea and the takeaway granola. If you pick one fine dining restaurant in LA, this would be it.

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕

Might depend on what market you're in? Some have not been developed yet and some are still growing. Make some reservations ahead of time and post them for sale and get ahead of the bot bids? IDK.

I totally agree with you. I’ve had the same thought and issues. But there’s no way to stop it as far as I know, unfortunately. I was worried this was going to happen and apparently it has😞
