The best beef in The UK. Also great value for the quality offered.
The best steak I have eaten in The UK. Far superior to The Hawksmoor. Restaurants talk about local provenance for their food but Vovem walk the talk. They stipulate their suppliers (Bannerman Butcher, Charles Mchardy, R & J Yorkshire's Finest) and Highland Wagyu) on their menu. They can confirm breed verbally and you can choose which supplier you have beef from and have an option to go with 60 day plus salt-aged beef from R & J. Although all options are extensively dry-aged and excellent quality. Extremely high quality ingredients, executed perfectly with an extensive range of sides and more beyond just beef, alongside a high quality wine-list made for a brilliant Friday night. Prices were also very fair for the quality on offer. Fantastic service was the cherry on the cake. I will be back!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food first time here and will definitely be back again many thanks to staff and management
Excellent meal from a beautifully laid out restaurant. First class service also by matre d . Tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection as we asked for it to be cooked well.done and wow was good. The waitress was exceptional also and did everything for us also . Restaurant was clean and well laid out and not cramped . Toilets was clean and beautifully laid out . I have been Miller and Carter and been 3 times to there and I jave always had problems with getting steak properly cooked and been cramped there but at this restaurant they went beyond and I will.never return to.Miller and carter as Vovem is the steak restaurant I will go to for now on

This was recommended by someone local, we had the Steak Night for Two. Choice of two either a Ribeye or Sirloin, two sides and sauce. Sides of triple cooked chips and roasted vegetables were good and steaks were perfectly done. Our server was friendly, had a great smile and overall the experience was very good.

Absolutely fantastic meal. Best fillet steak I’ve ever eaten. Truffle chips to die for and peppercorn sauce was divine. Service was brilliant and the waiter was super attentive. Can’t wait to go back

We visited for our Anniversary meal on Friday & had booked for 8pm but on arrival our table wasn't ready so we were asked to take a seat at the bar & the staff would get us a drink which was fine & we didn't have to wait long before our table was ready. We had a few questions re steaks which staff were happy to answer, we decided on Chatuebriand but at £87 were shocked that it came with nothing but the choice of two sauces everything else was extra! so we went for sauteed mushrooms, triple chips & truffle & parmesan....£6 for 8 chips is a joke!! We had a bottle of red wine.... the most money I've ever spent on a bottle £33 wine was very overpriced/marked up! Now don't get me wrong the food was lovely but while eating we were still in shock over the price & what we had to pay on top of that for sides...I had been told prior that Vovem wasn't great value for money & that another city steakhouse was much better value but decided to give you a go. When we got our bill we were again shocked that the drinks we'd been led to believe were complimentary due to our table not being ready were on there along with a chicken burger we didn't have & a charge for the water they automatically put on our table which was obviously just tap water! So all in all the two waiters who dealt with us were excellent, food was good but not good value for money, very overpriced for what we got, we were meant to have a drink downstairs but didn't bother & we'll not return there are better places in Aberdeen.
Be the first to ReplyHighly recommend - First class for food and the staff are excellent.
This is our favourite place to eat in Aberdeen. We’ve eaten here twice in the last week. On Sunday we had the sharing platter roast and on Thursday had the steak offer for 2. We love everything about Vovem from the moment you come through the door the staff are there greeting you in a friendly genuine manner. They are knowledgeable about the food and drink. The ambience and service is excellent. The food is top quality and you can tell a lot of care has gone into selecting suppliers.

This place is not as good as it thinks it is….. The food was very disappointing, service was excellent tho, front of house and waiting staff were very well versed in all aspects of their work and the menu. When you go to a steak restaurant and the best thing is the Mac & cheese something is very wrong. Ordered prawns which were so over cooked they were inedible and sent back, they were like rubber. Never had gambas pil pil with a lemon in with them, the lemon was like mush which confirmed they’d been microwaved or in the oven for a long time. Chateaubriand despite being ordered medium rare was overcooked and had a bone dry crust around which I had to cut off, to make a chateaubriand that dry takes real effort, or a hot oven or both…. When I asked why was told on each occasion “that’s just how it goes” or “it would just come back the same” My previous visit a year ago was so very different so it’s sad to see how kitchen standards have dropped

Booked for an early evening midweek meal. Was greeted on arrival and as shown to our table all the staff spoke , this was the same on leaving, they were all smiling and polite. Extensive menu, we went for the sharing bread selection to start which was really tasty, a variety of breads, chilli butter ( which was delicious), balsamic & oil and olives. As beef farmers we chose steak got our mains, they tasted good albeit mine ( medium rare) was slightly overcooked however my husband swapped with me. We had sides of chunky chips and mushrooms in garlic butter and sauces - blue cheese and peppercorn. My husband had a large glass of red wine. Service was very good, I think it was the manager. Nice , modern surroundings, it was quiet when we were there but expect it’s buzzing on a busy weekend evening.

A warm welcome from the staff. Tried the steak for 2 deal. Absolutely delicious, steaks cooked to perfection, sides and sauces so tasty. Staff knowledgeable and attentive but not intrusive. A wonderful dining experience which we would thoroughly recommend.
Be the first to ReplySo much better than we expected
After reading some of the previous reviews we weren’t expecting a great deal but to our surprise it certainly exceeded our expectations. Both the food and service were very good. Calum was exceptional and knowledgeable of the menu and the local area. Definitely Recommend!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, better service!
Thoroughly enjoyed our night here, food was really good and absolutely enhanced by the staff and service. One of our group had a particular demand for how his steak was cooked and when he stated that it wasn't up to standard, the waiting staff could not do enough to remedy the situation. A manager came over and engaged with us in depth and to sum their approach up - 'we will do whatever it takes to make sure your meal is perfect' they stuck by this. Lovely restaurant with terrific staff. Would happily visit again.

Arrived at 18.00 to an empty restaurant, only to be told there were no available tables. So rude! Really not sorry. Went for a Thai instead!

Visited after a graduation celebration with my mother and partner. On arrival we were dripping wet and nobody offered to take our coats. The main menu included a wine list, but when we asked for a drinks menu we were told they didn’t have one, but could do pretty much any drink, including cocktails. My mother tried to order a spiced rum and coke, which they said they didn’t have, so instead ordered a pina colada. Which ended up tasting like lemon posset. I had a French martini which was very nice but small.
My mother had a fillet steak well done (I know, I know), with peppercorn sauce which was cooked how she liked it. She’s very picky so that was good. My partner had a sirloin steak cooked rare, it was a tad overdone and a very thin bit of meat. I ordered a medium fillet steak, which came out rarer than my partners rare steak… we both had blue cheese sauce which was very disappointing. Very thin and not very flavoursome.
I couldn’t be doing with sending it back - not that anyone came to ask how our food was anyway. It was okay, but certainly not the best steak I’ve had. And nowhere near worth the whopping £32 it cost just for the meat. The dishes don’t automatically come with sides of any kind, so you have to pay an extra £5 just to get chips. Our triple cooked chips barley looked like they’d been cooked once they were so pale.
For dessert my partner and I had dark chocolate crème brûlée which was essentially chocolate mousse with sugar on top. My mother had an apple crumble which she enjoyed.
The service was polite but nothing special. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get one of the cocktails, and we received no check back throughout the meal. I think our server was more interested in flirting with the young ladies at the table across from us.
Overall definitely NOT worth the £180 bill for 3 people having 2 courses and 2 drinks each. Wish we’d just gone to miller and carter.
Birthday celebration...allergies 'an all
1st time visit to Vevom but really enjoyed the atmosphere (music not too loud) and service. Not to mention the tasty local food.
This was a birthday celebration for my wife, who has quote a rare allergy, whereby she cannot have any dishes which have been cooked in alcohol. Being clear; it's the alcohol resin which she reacts to, therefore even the cooking process, where most of the alcohol is burned off, does not eradicate the threat...the staff were fantastic, coming to the table and talking discreetly to my wife about the food she'd ordered, to understand 100% that things would be OK.
Started off with cocktails which set us up nicely for what was to come.
We had 3 steaks (2 x fillets;1 sirloin) & the monkfish, all cooked to order beautifully and seasoned well. The only niggle I had with my dish was with the sauce. This was a blue cheese sauce but with very little flavour and thinner than I'd expect from blue cheese). All sides were great too...most of which are designed to share for 2.
I was tempted to have the dark chocolate crème brulee, however birthday cake was on the menu...btw, well done M&S. All washed down with tasty coffees and peppermint tea.
Staff wise; all were great. One of our party is 94 with mobility issues (little lift at the side of steps up to the restaurant) and they were very patient. My wife got some birthday attention too, so she was happy.
Is it expensive? Of course it is...it's fine dining... they don't hide that fact! Will I be eating here on a regular basis? No, most cannot afford to. However when there's a special occasion, it's fair to say, we will have Vevom high on our list of places to go.
Would thoroughly recommend. I didn't give it 5/5 due to the blue cheese sauce...I feel this is a fundamental for a steak house.
Extortionate given the quality
A visit to Vovem was a birthday treat from my wife. We've visited many good steakhouses over the years and unfortunately this wasn't one of them. I decided to push the boat out and try their Wagu ribeye at an eye-watering £85 for just the steak. I was really looking forward to a treat but what arrived on the plate was seriously deflating. A thin, sad looking little steak with a mountain of fat and gristle. What little meat was on it was tasty, but for that price they should've been embarrassed to serve it. My wife had a lesser rib-eye. Hers was also too thin and overcooked (we asked for medium rare). I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes a good quality cut of steak. On the plus side the service was relatively good.
Be the first to ReplyNice but not enough
Chill vibes. Nice food. Toilets were a bit of a squeeze and the lack of soft drinks menu was a little inconvenient. We had the Sunday roast platter which was nice but there wasn't very much of it and the potatoes weren't seasoned at all. If we were to go again we'd definitely go for something bigger.
