Quintonil Ciudad de México Reviews from The Last Year
Quintonil is very good, but not great
.This is a nice restaurant in Polanco. The service was fantastic and the food was very good. I would not say the food was great for the amount of money paid, as I have certainly had better at that price. I ate at the bar as you need two people to eat at the table, although I think the menu is almost the same. They are on the list of world's top 50 restaurants and I think that may be a stretch, but that is of course my opinion.
Quintonil Mexico City sublime experience
Had the tasting menu…the food every course was delicious…the tasting menu was bold and inventive…I would definitely recommend any one visiting Mexico City make reservations…I will definitely return to try the new menu
Miserable food poisoning
I felt very lucky to have scored a dinner reservation here on Valentine’s Day. I felt deceived as soon as we sat down, however, because the website had said that there were à la carte options, but the only option turned out to be a nine course tasting menu. I am skeptical of tasting menus, both for their pretentiousness, and for the fact that you’re hostage to whatever they want to give you. My partner and I shared everything except two dishes which, for some reason, repulsed her: a piece of fish, and a decomposed taco. Those two I ate. The fish tasted funny. No less than two hours after getting back to the hotel after this meal, which set me back about $1000, I got violently ill, with what is classic food poisoning. (As a physician, I’ve seen it one too many times.) Vomited seven times, diarrhea, fever. I got so sick that I had to cancel the business portion of my trip and pay an extra hefty sum to fly back home the next day.
Unforgettable world class dining in CDMX
We booked the bar - chef's counter experience and it was incredible from start to finish. Not only were the courses so carefully designed and executed, but the level of service and staff was unparalleled. We also requested the wine pairing which was exquisite. It was worth the treat on our vacation and will be a dining experience we'll never forget. Thank you to the entire team!
Culinary experience
I think this restaurant deserves to be one of the world’s top. The tasting menu was superb and incredibly varied and the dishes beautifully presented. The service was excellent and not overwhelming as in many restaurants of this calibre. Every dish was well explained and we did not feel rushed. I loved the fact that one is given a copy of the menu when leaving. Not cheap by Mexican standards, but reasonable by international ones.
Friends dinner
Best dinner ever! Wow, an explosion of flavors! Every dish was perfection. The service was amazing. Loved everything about this place!
Moctezuma's Revenge for US$800+
Where. Do. I. Start... For context, I have been to countless number of fine dining restaurants all over the world. From 3 Michelin Stars to those on top of the San Pellegrino 50 Best, I have done it all spanning the US, Europe, South America, and Asia. I have also been to Mexico City a few times before. So, it comes at great pain to write this review as it is the first and hopefully only one I will ever have to write of this nature. For additional context, we are both intermittent fasters. For those not familiar, that means we don't eat for between 16-20 hours. We have been doing this for years and it has been great for health. So, it should be of no surprise given Quintonil was offering a Tasting Menu only that we would not eat anything during the entire day in anticipation of the experience. Fast forward to the meal itself. I'm going to try and be objective here as the meal itself was very good. Some of the dishes were exceptional. The Kampachi was simply delicious as was the tamal and the lobster tartar. Having experience in what some would call adventurous (not us), we had no issues digging into the Festival of insects. These were tacos that involved fish made with an adobo of chapulines (grassshoppers), chorizo made from ants, and other Mexcan delicacies focused on insects. All in all, the meal was delightful and about what one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. However... ...what ensued at 3 AM that next morning was something we were not expecting. Our 4 day trip to Mexico curated around visiting Quintonil and Pujol took a turn when my significant other got seriously sick. So much so I had to leave the hotel and head to a Pharmacy first thing in the morning to buy medication that would help. For additional context, he's also a doctor so he is more knowledgeable than most. Little did I know I too would be affected as I too started developing symptoms. Definitely milder than his, I too was off for the remainder of the trip. Things were so bad we had no choice but to cancel the reservations we had at Pujol that evening, a shame given the reservation was made 7 months in advance. The purpose of the trip completely written off. One could make a few arguments here as to it being "bad luck". I would agree, except both of us displaying the same symptoms is rather suspicious. We ate the exact same things at Quintonil. Remember, we had not eaten anything during the entire day except drink sealed imported bottled water and plenty of it. Could it have been we were not used to eating insects and that was it? Possible, but also unlikely given conscious or not, humans do ingest insects all the time unintentionally. It is part of eating fruits and vegetables. One of us getting sick would be one thing, but both of us and under those circumstances??? All in all, a ruined post dining experience, a cancelled reservation at Pujol made 7 months prior resulted in a ruined trip to the great Latin American capital that is Mexico City. Needless to say, we will be returning to Mexico City, but will skip Quintonil. I think there are better things we can spend our $800+ on. The Posh Elite Polanco Version of Moctezuma's Revenge is not one of them.
An incredible meal that I will remember forever!
This is one of the top 5 meals I have ever had. While it's not inexpensive, the food and the serve were incredible. I would highly recommend Quintonil for anyone that visits Mexico City and is looking for a gourmet meal that will be remembered forever.
Underwhelmed
A little unwhelmed given the hype and price. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairing. The food is creative, the striped bass was well cooked and the special honey desert dish was very good. However, we felt that some dishes were over spiced and some under, and the wine pairing was really off. For example, one of us don't eat fish so he was given a dish of some potato preparation, but the sommelier gave him a glass of full bodied red from Mexico! Another dish has pasta with anchovy that's too salty, and it was paired with a light white which was completely overwhelmed by the dish. A comparably priced tasting dinner in the US would have better food and wine pairing.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

How to list a Nobu Malibu reservation
Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Give the best answerConcierge change fulfillment time
I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

Give the best answerApp
This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
