Very nice experience
Wonderful experience! We honestly didn't expect that! Already the frame! The place is magnificent! Relaxing, exotic... For dinner: We had 6 savory and 3 sweet dishes + appetizers and sweets The menu was exceptional! Very very good, fine and original We loved, among other things, the onion mousse, cheese and crumble and the white chocolate and pea dessert!! Very original and delicious! Only small downside: no cheese platter/plate but a revisited Manchego! The idea could be nice but too unbalanced! Olive too strong inside! In addition, the staff is very friendly, welcoming and professional! Special mention to Mallaury who is perfect for announcing the dishes! Very professional and smiling! We will come back and recommend this address with pleasure
Be the first to ReplyAn exceptional gastronomic journey.
Everything was divine, succulent, delicious. Very attentive staff. The chef took our dietary constraints into account with ingenuity. The only downside if we can say so: the plates placed on the table without a tablecloth or set! An unforgettable experience.

A gastronomic getaway that lives up to our expectations for a great occasion. Everything was perfect, from the different dishes, from the wine pairing, to the service, to the restaurant itself. An unforgettable evening and even digging into my most distant memories, I can say that this is the best menu I have ever tasted. Congratulations Chief!

Be the first to ReplyJourney through the fruits of the Mediterranean
I would define its tasting menu as an underwater journey through the Mediterranean where the flavors take you on a journey of seafood. Delicious. Someone may care about the price, we recommend living the experience.
Be the first to ReplyWorth 2 stars. Wonderful at night without the view. What about daytime?
Worth 2 stars. What happiness! Wonderful dinner in 8 steps. Happiness in every moment. Taste buds amazed. Eyes wide. What a wonderful experience. Playful and super professional room. Without ever being obsequious or casual. What a perfect moment.

Breathtaking view of Collioure, too bad that evening the bell tower was not lit. But the 12-course meal was fabulous, an unforgettable moment. Impeccable service. To repeat during our next stay
Be the first to ReplyRestaurant cancelled table on day of booking
Booked a table at this restaurant a month ago for our anniversary and advised them at that time there was a vegan in the party. I didn't think this would be a problem as we have eaten thee twice before. 3 1/2 hours before we were due to arrive, the restaurant called to say they could no longer cater for me. Appalling service causing major disappointment on a day that should have been a celebration. Obviously we will never be eating there again!
Be the first to ReplySo disappointed
What a disappointment! We were a table of four and all ordered the 10 course menu believing that in that way we would get the most variety and really see what the chef had to offer. Every single dish was either fish or seafood. We recognized that this restaurant is by the sea but never in our imagination would we have expected that every single course would be fish or seafood. They even put caviar on the dessert. All of the courses just started to blend together without real differences in flavor or texture. They certainly didn't highlight what the whole region has to offer. You get no choice over what dishes you get although they do ask you if there are things that you really don't like (I don't know what they would have done had I said I don't love seafood for every course, bit I didn't think I would have to say that), and then at the end they give you a list of all the things that you might have had if only they had decided to bring those to you. So don't get excited about the dessert that the people at the table next to you have because chances are you won't be getting it. We certainly expected some fish and seafood but not for it ALL to be. We will not ever go back and in fact it just turned us off trying any restaurant where they don't tell you in advance what you will be getting. Sad. Happily we ended our trip at a one star restaurant in Paris that was better in every way, except the view.
Be the first to ReplyHugely disappointing birthday meal
We visited with friends as a birthday treat All of us are very passionate about food and we have collectively visited dozens and dozens of Michelin star restaurants including a number of 2 and 3 star restaurants. I can only assume that we were very unlucky as poor reviews seem relatively uncommon for this restaurant. We found the surprise menu concept very frustrating as they didn’t offer a wine flight and wouldn’t tell you what you were going to eat so it was impossible to order wines . The sommelier offered to provide us with wine by the glass but the choice was very limited and it was very poor value buying wine this way The wines in general were unreasonably priced. We noted 400-500% markups on a few wines we were familiar with. This just isn’t acceptable in my opinion,we would expect maybe 200-250% markup but not 400% We all found the food extremely salty and as each course came they seemed to get more and more salty . We couldn’t eat two of the courses and after 4 courses we had had enough of complaining and so decided to cut our losses and ask for the bill. The food was also incredibly drab and grey looking , the pictures we had seen of other dishes looked fab but we didn’t see any of this with what we were served with . Some of the ideas were also debatable - one dish was lots of ways to prepare an onion, including onion ice cream ? All presented as a cold soup . There was also a very gristly piece of tuna that once again was crazily salted and served with a version of beef gravy . We also found the room and ambience poor. The acoustics were particularly horrid Without a doubt the worst Michelin experience I have ever had . I can only assume this was an off night but I certainly won’t be returning to give them the benefit of the doubt .

You cannot beat Collioure, so a visit to La Balette was a must. The first thing that struck us as odd was the lack of a written menu. Their strap line was that it was a surprise( not wrong there). They do not do a wine flight which again was poor. The canapés were reasonably good but nothing to write home about. The wine list is fairly extensive but when you look at the prices for local wines the markup is 300-400%. Considering they would get them at ex-cave prices and are all from within a radius of 5 miles, they are being greedy. The courses then started to arrive. They were explained in such a fast dialogue it was hard to understand at all- too rushed. We then had three courses of pure salt. How a chef with a star would allow that out of the kitchen beggars belief. One course was a foie gras dish with what tasted like some speculos biscuits mixed with a lot of salt. Almost inedible. A monk fish course had beans that tasted of salt and nothing else. By now my palette was destroyed and I couldn’t get enough water to erase it. The next course was the first course that had promise but failed on all counts. Low quality tuna again that was pure salt. For me that was it. We refused to be served anything else so spoke to the restaurant manager. He was very good and we came to an agreement about what we were prepared to pay. The staff service was not bad. The restaurant area is a sterile area with little imagination and dreadful accoustics. How this was awarded a Michelin star I have no idea, the dishes on their Facebook page do not reflect what was served. Little inspiration and poor execution. If you want an excellent meal without expensive wines and excellent service go to Neptune. The food there was of a far higher standard, presented very well and the staff friendly and attentive. Would I return to Balette to give them a second chance, the answer is a resounding no. Such a disappointing experience and the first Michelin starred restaurant where the food served was simply awful. I hope it was a one off.

We were a party of 10 celebrating our Mother's 91st birthday. We had a 7 course surprise menu and each and every course was delicious. The service and ambiance was outstanding. The table was placed in such a way that everyone had a magnificent view of the bay. We were even presented with a lovely (pink!) birthday cake. It was the perfect place and setting for this celebration as well as a family reunion as we came together in Collioure for the first time in many years from Holland, Australia, New York and Curacao. We can't thank everybody who contributed to this lunch enough for making this a very special day indeed.
Be the first to ReplyWOW! New Chef with Michelin Star
They have always had great food here, and we have had many memorable meals here over the last 20 years. When we got our first course it was obvious there was a change for the better. First what it is not: For inexperienced diners, Vegans, Gluten freebies or children. f you just want food, go somewhere else. This is an experience, like going to the theater. You do not get to choose what you will eat. You choose one of the three tasting menus, eight, ten or twelve courses. We did the ten with wine pairings. I would recommend NOT eating anything after breakfast the day you come here for dinner. Another tip, don't eat too much bread during the meal, I know it's hard. First up is the Amuse Bouche, one of the items is a crispy waffle with cream and there are three other little things, herbs and trout roe. The after an appropriate break, comes the next course of is a fluffy white ball with what looks like caviar on it, but it is olive oil manipulated to look like caviar (molecular gastronomy) underneath is a Romesco of sundried tomatoes and cheese. The next dish is so creative and one of my favorites: It looks like a brown foam, b as soon as you touch it with your spoon it devolves into a cold onion soup. The delicate croutons are underneath and I don't know hw they keep them crunchy, amazing dish for a warm night. Net up is a fish dish, that I can't recall at the moment, but good. Meat course next focusing on pork: Catalan sausage on a tiny grill with live charcoal in it, you also get a seriously tasty piece of pork roast. Room for dessert? That's good because there is a Pre dessert, dessert and after dessert. We took the after desserts with us to enjoy the next day. We were impressed with the selection of local wine with each course. Can't wait to come back next year!
