Worth its weight in gold!!
Worth its weight in gold!! We took our mother out for her 70th birthday and it was an experience we won't forget in a hurry. The food was sublime and the service was superb. We were well fed and not a morsel was left on any plate, the staff, atmosphere and the entire evening was absolutely brilliant!!
Be the first to ReplyAn exquisite evening in a very special place!
An absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. From the excellent bar staff at the start and their good fun, to the fantastic staff in the dining room. Everyone was so friendly, helpful, professional and nice. We had an amazing view of the full restaurant and it was like being on a movie set. The food was exquisite. So tasty and innovative. There were too many names to mention. Everyone we met was absolutely top class and we can’t wait to visit again.
Be the first to ReplyReally good but really expensive (especially the wine)
I had been here for lunch before a few years ago but never dinner. Was the absolute bomb. We had lobster ravioli and truffle ravioli type things for starters which were really good. And had the lamb and the sole for mains, which were really excellent. You get little snacks and amouse bouches or whatever in between courses. Also had a delicious dessert and cheeseboard. It's ridiculously expensive and the cheapest wine is like 80 euros so be prepared for your wallet to take a hammering.

A spectacular jewel of a restaurant Amazing food and it’s my favourite place in Dublin to go for lunch or dinner Book you won’t be disappointed
Be the first to ReplyUnable to get dinner reservations so we opted for lunch
We opted for lunch at RPG because dinner was not available and quite glad we had this adjustment. As with most tasting menu experiences the lunch was a 3 hour experience. Had we had dinner it would have been way too late. My suggestion opt for the lunch. We were first seated in a cozy bar area where we were served a cocktail by an attentive staff and were provided the menu to select from in this room (before seated in the dining room). The menu is a tasting and you can choose between a 3 and 5 course meal. We opted for 3 and that was quite enough. Everyone in the seating is asked to opt for the same number of servings. From the leisurely cocktail we were escorted into the dining room which was quite difference with high ceilings and bowed ceiling. The tables were appropriately spaced . The service was formal yet friendly. The servings were ample and tasty, as a matter a fact when served with pastries at the end of the meal we asked to take them away. Everything was well prepared and tasty. I will return to the restaurant when returning to the Merrion.
Be the first to ReplyThere is a reason this place has been the best restaurant in Ireland for the last 40 years!
Went for lunch here on 12 December with my wife and two friends, another couple. Stephane welcomed us at the door and offered us an aperitif. We had a lovely table surrounded by some beautiful Sean Scully paintings. The food was just beautiful - my game tart with jus and fillet steak were cooked to perfection. This was at the height of the Christmas period and genuinely - everything and service was to perfection. No detail missed. Mr. Patrick Guilbaud came to our table to check up on us and thank us for dining at the restaurant. We finished off in the cocktail lounge/cigar area with a gorgeous cigar and cocktails. This experience was just delightful and must be commended. Top class. Needs to be an annual calendar treat at Christmas. Looking forward to going back.

We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing - it was delicious. such a treat. The staff are all so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Lovely to have Patrick Guilbaud greet all his customers and check in on how everything was. Well done to all, especially the amazing chefs. We can’t wait to go again!
Be the first to ReplyThe Complete Restaurant Experience
I read the last few reviews with a sinking heart just prior to going to the restaurant, but I needn't have worried. The place was professional to a degree that most restaurants can only dream of and the menu balanced in terms of range and portion size. The lobster starter, turbot and lamb mains, milk and honey and souffle desserts were exceptional. The meal started with a a canape so light it seemed to melt into nothing in the mouth and there were little flashes of equivalent culinary brilliance throughout the meal. Our wine choices were delivered with explanatory comments by our sommelier and even though by no means the dearest on the list, were still of excellent quality. The quality of this restaurant is not so much in fireworks or flamboyance, but rather in absolute mastery of the orchestration of a meal from start to finish. Add this to the quality of the meal you eat, not in individual course consideration, but in cumulative total, and what you have is a restaurant experience as near perfect as you are ever likely to encounter. This is dining as it is meant to be and I absolutely get why Restaurant Patrick Gibaud holds the acolades it does.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming
Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud charges 2 Michelin star prices but does not deliver food or service to match these astronomical prices. Like €150 for a subpar 3 course meal. There was nothing special about any of those courses (scallops starter, duck main course served with watery mash potatoes and sponge drenched in rum for dessert) that I haven’t eaten in a decent restaurant, let alone in a 2 star one. Nothing imaginative or creative going on with any of the dishes myself or my husband had. The wine list is also ridiculously priced, the cheapest bottles being around €100/€120. Service was underwhelming, we’ve been to many Michelin starred restaurants but have never been treated with a mild but noticeable air of condescension like in RPG. The Dublin restaurant scene needs a big kick up the backside if this is one of their best and can get away with charging astronomical prices for subpar quality. To be fair half the tables were empty on a Saturday night so maybe they don’t…
Be the first to ReplyNot up to the Two-Star Service Standard
Coming from Chicago, a city with superb restaurants, including Michelin-star restaurants, we were looking forward to a similar experience in Dublin. We tried two Dublin restaurants with Michelin stars. The other met, if not exceeded expectations. In contrast, this one fell short - far short on service. Though there were several empty tables nearby, the timing of the courses was off. For the dessert course, one in our party was not served her course until the others had already finished theirs, so she turned down the course. She was asked why and when she explained that her colleagues had finished, there was no apology. For the digestif, another in our party was not served hers. The rest of us waited and when it was clear that it was not forthcoming we tracked down another waiter to assist. Again it was brought out with no apology. The food was certainly memorable but the experience was offset by the failures in service.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service
The food are gorgeous and the service are excellent. My husband and I went there for celebration my birthday and we were absolutely delighted. We went in there at lunch time, but they provided both lunch menu and a la carte menu. We were delighted with the a la carte menu as there were so many more options. The atmosphere there is quite and nice. We noted that the service are relatively quick, we didn’t wait long between meals. This is a nice treat for special occasion.

Another amazing meal in RPG. Everything was delicious. The service relaxed and professional. What a way to spend a Tuesday afternoon in Dublin.

The food and service was impeccable. I don't think I ever tasted deer fillet cooked like that. Heavenly dinner; thank you to the lovely and very professional young lady that predominantly served me and explained all the dishes to me.

Fantastic meal , service excellent, value for money. Party of 4 ,Monday evening 14th November 2022, all the way from Ireland. We couldn't rate this restaurant high enough. We would be very hard to please when it comes to food and service, but this restaurant scored top marks on all counts. If I had any recommendations to make it would be to add some chicken dishes to the menu.

Had a great evening at Patrick guilbaud restaurant . Food excellent and service top class. Great place to experience being truly pampered.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Our party of six booked dinner here while we stayed in the Merrion and we really looked forward to our two star Michelin experience. The Maitre de and staff were warm and very attentive; until the dessert menu arrived. The menus were placed on our table, we made our selections, closed the menus and waited for someone to take our order. No one arrived at our table for a good 15 minutes after the menus were closed. We are not sure where all the staff went as our room was not full. We eventually decided we would pass on dessert and champagne, as the magic of the experience had worn off. We finally caught the eye of the Maitre de and requested our bill, which arrived together with a plate of small dessert samples. For a two star Michelin restaurant, it is not the service we expected, and we'd certainly not come back.

Some of the food was great ( Lobster Ravioli) ...setting was great and the bar was great. The rest was VERY disappointing. If you are looking for a True Michelin two Starr experience you will not get it here ...waiters are impossibly snooty and they seem to want to rush you through dinner and get you out as soon as they can. If you order wine by the glass they will give you a pour you would not serve your worst enemy if he was dining in your home, if you bring it up to management they act as if you are begging for more , pour you more , and ignore you the rest of the night! ....If you drink red and the wife drinks white , they treat your wine choice as a second thought, while showing all pom and circumstance to whomever ordered a full bottle near you...very weird. Dublin has a vibrant food scene ...don't waste your time and money here. BTW I was in Dublin 6 nights, 6 great restaurants that I would go back to...not here

My family and I celebrated our daughters graduation in PGs during the week. Noting it is a 2 star Michelin I was a little concerned about it being stuffy, however that couldn’t be further from the truth. Stephan and his team were exceptionally professional while at that the same time having plenty of banter. Needless to say the food was superb, the sucking pig croquettes and pigeon some of the highlights. Staff had no problem explaining items on the menu. While PGs is not cheap, imo considering the quality of food, staff and ambiance, it is good value for money. We’ve already started planning our next trip.

We dined at Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud for our 37th Wedding Anniversary while staying in Dublin, and we were very impressed. From beginning to end, everything was fantastic. There is a celebration of the ingredients and fresh produce used that created some of the finest dining that we have experienced anywhere in the world. Brilliant combinations and perfect portions, plus the service was just as you would hope. Timing between courses was also perfect, and wines are exceptional. This was our best gourmet meal during our 14-day trip around Ireland, and it should be at the top of everyone's list that is seeking a true Michelin-star experience.

Thank you so much for an incredible dining experience with yourselves at Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud. My fiancée and I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday evening. The food was impeccable, the service was flawless and the cocktails/wine were perfect. The attention to detail was a masterclass in French culinary etiquette and dining. Thank you for making us feel so welcome, for being attentive and for making my fiancées 30th birthday meal a highly memorable moment.

A wonderful warm welcome on arrival to a lovely relaxed setting to celebrate the end of my son’s A levels and what a treat four courses of simply sublime food scallop starter and the croquettes of suckling pig were amazing the turbot dish and the fillet of beef were some of the best I’ve ever tasted. A classic soufflé always delicious but my son going for the rum flambé baba magical a wonderful experience would return in a heartbeat.

I’m from Dublin took the wife and son who had just finished exams. I hadn’t eaten here before and had waited for the right occasion. It really did not disappoint, really superb. A wonderful piece of theatre that lived up to my expectation. Thanks

My husband and I dined at Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud while staying at The Merrion and were very impressed with the experience. We’re no strangers to star-studded dining all over the world and this ranks among our top choices. The room is elegant yet still warm and inviting. Service was impeccable, attentive without being overbearing and very charming and welcoming, We felt comfortable joking around with the team. We even got to meet the chef himself. We ordered the tasting menu and I had the wine pairing. Every course and detail was wonderful and expertly matched with the wine, from the creative amuse-bouches to start to the luscious chocolate truffles to finish. Even dishes that we’ve had many times before, such as the gougeres, were enhanced by special touches that elevated them beyond a more common presentation. While expensive, it’s money well spent for a sublime meal.
