This place was a long time staple in the community.
Sadly, News owners bought it and the food, service and quality went downhill. The restaurant is now closed.

Another fun evening with wine, friends, and good food at The Italian Kitchen. Our group enjoyed the Gnudi appetizer, wine and chatting in a comfortable neighborhood atmosphere.

It's located in a strip mall and is fairly small. That being said, the food and service were amazing. From the home made butters with the bread, to the Caesar's salad, they were both very good. The entrees were fantastic. We had the duck special and beef cheek ragu. They have a great wine selection, and it fills up pretty quick so I'd recommend a reservation.

1. My husband and our friend ordered soup with their meals. Hers came out with the salads that had been ordered, he waited another 5 minutes for his, meanwhile, hers got cold.2. They tried to serve our friend's dinner prior to the rest of us receiving ours so she asked for them to hold hers in the kitchen until all the dinners came out. They were glad to do that. However, when they brought the dinners out, my husband's was ice cold! He waited for another 15 minutes while the rest of us ate our dinner when his finally came out.3. Our waitress did take his meal off our bill but she was not dressed in a professional way AND had waist length hair that was not pulled back and swayed with her movements, never knowing if it was going to get in our food! She also told us about the previous owners ( who had amazing food) and some of the things that happened when she bought the place...TMI. At least they knew how to run a restaurant!4. We are from out of town and make a point of eating here at least once a year but for us, never again!

I've been to the Italian Kitchen multiple times in the past few months and each visit has been fantastic. The service was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They were quick to suggest the best dishes and even went out of their way to make sure my meal was tailored to my specific dietary needs. As for the food, I've loved everything I've tried during each visit. Today I had the Mushroom and Sausage Ravioli. The flavors were incredibly rich and the portion size was generous. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of each dish. They also put on a monthly dinner where they bring in a winery and special menu and have a 5-6 course dinner + wine pairing. I've been to two of them and they were really fun. They also have solid recommendations on wine pairings. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a great Italian dining experience.

New owners with a nice change to the interior decor and brightened it up and there's actually a bar now to sit at. Love it! The menu is a nice change from the standard Italian fare of parmigiana, piccata everything cheese, etc. Black butter is something I have never had before and a nice touch for the bread. Also had the Gnudi appetizer. If you try one thing, this is an absolute must!! Iberico Pork loin for entree for any pork lovers. Only the best black pigs in the world!~ We will be back as its a nice small, not NOISY spot.

Stopped in for a bite and ended up having a great time with awesome service and great food. If you're a spaghetti and meatball person then go here! The meatball was enormous and packed with flavor. Looking forward to seeing this little spot flourish.

Walked in thinking we'd order pizza for the grandkids not realizing the place had changed their menu when it changed ownership. We stared at the menu thinking Great now what everything looks weird on here. Instead of leaving we chose spaghetti and meatballsl for the kids to split, the cacio e pepe for me and the pork loin with wilted spinach on the side. The table bread was served with black butter or tart cherry butter which was new to us but incredible. All of it was AMAZING. Such a nice surprise and the new owners were there and explained the menu is from scratch and fresh which it definitely tasted like. Everything was perfect portion size. The big slice of chocolate cake for dessert was devoured by the kids immediately. This food was like no other we've ever had and we're going back for appetizers and wine when we don't have the grandkids. Sorry bout your luck kids lol. Give it a try if you're open to new fresh flavors!

10/10 amazing! The owner was really nice and the food was sooooooo delicious. He provided great recommendations and was super attentive without being overbearing. Felt kinda like being at a friend's house.

Located in a nondescript strip mall, Aiello's is a hidden gem. While I look forward to their interior upgrade and remodeling, I'm hopeful they remain focused on the food. Very creative, not too expensive and wonderful, authentic Italian with a contemporary twist. I took two business associates here without any real research up front -- we came without expectations. Wow -- a surprise in an area of Phoenix that, until now, was only known for the nearby Pointe Resort. Reminds me of Rusconi's (Tatum) before they let their egos become more important than customers and the food. If Ailleo's can keep on with the great dishes and friendly atmosphere, they'll be headed for great things. I'm looking forward to a few more visits because it seems this is a discovery that only happens every so often.

When we popped into our neighborhood Italian restaurant a few weeks ago (forgetting it was Restaurant Week) I immediately noticed there were no familiar faces. My heart dropped when I asked our server how the owner, Joe, was doing and he said he did not know him and that the restaurant had been sold. On that Saturday, they were serving only the restaurant week menu but that was okay since the majority of the items were what I would have ordered. I'll admit, I am a bit leery when a familiar place gets sold, but I got a shockingly pleasant surprise. I ordered my usual artichoke appetizer and I was visually blown away. It looked like beautiful stuffed flowers and the sausage stuffing (yes, different from the past) was excellent. The chicken picata was moist and very flavorful. The portion was also very plentiful and I stopped halfway because the zabaglione had my name on it. Yes, it was worth all the Lactaid to devour this decadent dessert!! We were stunned when the new owner stopped by and mentioned he bought the place on Thursday (two days previously!) and the menu had been set by the previous owners. I was impressed but I thought maybe everything was already set up for him and that was why he pulled everything off so elegantly. In case this was just a fluke, we went back a few nights ago and I ordered the same meal as my last with the previous owners. I have to say I was definitely not disappointed. The quality, the presentation, and the portions were excellent. Prices have gone up slightly (like everywhere else) but I am willing to pay more for quality and consistency. Our server, Mike, was great--friendly, efficient, and polite while my husband asked endless questions. We were Isa's Pizza fans and we haven't tried the new version, but we did take a close look when others ordered pizza and it looked good. The owner explained that renovations/redecorating were coming as well as some additional changes to the menu. We are looking forward to returning and enjoying additional meals here. Sometimes change IS good!
Be the first to ReplyThought we would give it a try with new owners.
Ordered take out. Quick service. Staff was friendly. Menu online has not been updated. We ordered Veal Marsala and Chicken Piccata. It had good flavor and portion was ok, not large but enough for us, but it's now served with pasta. Not the potato croquette and vegetables. Wished they would have mentioned the menu change. No focaccia bread either. Total came to $58. We will keep trying other items to give them another shot.

Decor: just okay, definitely old and run down for the most part. Service: prompt, friendly and quick!Food: Overpriced for the portion that you get. Capriese and Rollatini were good! However, in general here the food is bland and lacks excitement just like the dining room. I'm from NY and this food is nowhere near "east coast Italian"Will not be coming back.

Supported this restaurant during pandemic by ordering take out. Although they got the orders wrong a few times, I decided to try again tonight. The girl that answered the phone seemed less then enthusiastic to take my order. Then she hung up on me. I called back, she said their phones sometimes disconnects calls. I went in and picked up my order, same girl with zero personality or customer service skills. She gave me the food and the receipt to sign. She said, here you go, sign this. I said thank you and she started to walk off. No response. I said thank you again a little louder. She turned around, seemed surprised I said it twice and said, have a good night. Rude AF. What is wrong with customer service lately? My order was not correct and with one dinner, The vegi was green beans. 8 green beans to be exact!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service and great food.
Finally someone makes eggplant Parma like I like it ! They were more than gracious about my mother's gluten allergy. They made a terrific meal for her and she was pleased and full. Doesn't usually go that way! Everyone ordered something different and every dish was delicious. I will happily go there again. Bring back the crustless ricotta cheesecake please!

Staff is excellent! Food was very good. Very well prepared original Italian food. I had the veal Florentine. Very tasty! Partner had fish special very well prepared. If you are looking for an original Italian restaurant then this is your place!
Be the first to ReplyWe had dinner there the other night for the first time.
we have lived in the neighborhood for more than a few years and finally tried them out. They were fantastic. The service was great and the food was even better. The limoncello cake for dessert was amazing.

We popped in for dinner Just before they closed and they were very accommodating. The food was delicious and very authentic New York style Italian.
Be the first to ReplyPros: Service was great.
The highlights were the eggplant rollitini was amazing. The white slice was incredible. Baked clams were way too bread-y and the whole clam was shriveled and inedible. (Probably steamed first to open so it was over cooked) Antipasto - very nice. Highlight was fresh mozz and roasted peppers. Chicken Parm- I asked for super light sauce and crispy but it was covered w sauce on top and underneath the chicken. Small portion. Was good otherwise. Fettuccine Alfredo - didn't taste right. Didn't eat it. If I am in the area, I will def go back. (I live 30miles away but travel the valley for work)
