Authentic Italian, perfectly cooked pasta
I am Italian from Italy and they prepare the food well and have a very nice wine list. Perfect pasta al dente, a lovely cotoletta. Salads fresh, dressings a bit sweet. Great service. Overall very close to what you get in Italy, definitely worth the trip.

Visited Toscam for a business dinner, the service was excellent and the food was superb. To sum up - great experience, highly recommended Italian resturant.
Be the first to ReplyChef's Table - Superb!
I had the opportunity to sit in the kitchen at the Chef's Table with a full 5-course dining experience with Chef Philip Marzelli. The food was interesting, beautifully plated, and the chef explained each dish and answered any of our questions. The sommelier, referred to as the Wine Guy by the chef, was friendly, helpful, and entertaining. Fabulous experience, would highly recommend!

Recommended by a friend, we had an early dinner before a show at the Kennedy Center. The restaurant had elegantly understated contemporary decor with hosts in suit and tie, white linen tablecloths, and relaxing lighting. The servers were extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The menu was not overly extensive, which is a good sign that each dish would receive the chef's full attention. There was a variety of meat, seafood, fish, and vegetarian selections The wine choices were interesting, with wines by the glass priced in the upper teens. My Italian sauvignon was excellent. My husband enjoyed his red as well, but I failed to note which one he chose. We had two wonderful appetizers, the scallops and the prosciutto with figs. Both were innovative and delicious. We followed with two pasta dishes, the cavatelli ragu and small ravioli stuffed with braised short ribs and parmesan in an amazing wine broth/sauce. Both were absolutely to die for. All of the pasta is hand-made in house and was perfectly cooked. The portions were the perfect size, filling without being overwhelming. To say the food was 'authentic' would deny the creativity of the kitchen, so I would say it is authentically inspired, then taken a step beyond. Prices were very much in accordance with the quality of the food and service. We look forward to a return visit when we are next in the Washington area.

Impeccable service, gorgeous wine and elegant and refined food. Quite a buzzy atmosphere but still quiet enough to hear each other across the table. The fig desert was a highlight.

The price doubled, the quality halved
For instance, the tiramisu was not a cake like substance but three little dollops, the smallest one was barely a teaspoons sized.
What a disappointment.
Food still excellent after reopening
We were glad to be back post-pandemic. We got what is always recommended in reviews: focaccia basket, misticanza salad (my wife and I split it), and the agnolotti. We got glasses of McNab Cab based on the waiter's description. The food was all superb, as was the service. The wine was just as the waiter had described, and was perfect for our taste--full bodied but not at all dry. In addition to the focaccia basket, they brought bread that was fabulous. I grew up on Italian bread and this was excellent. I used it to sop up the sauce from the agnolotti! This practice was common when I grew up. The remodeled dining room is lively, as is the remodeled bar area.

A prearranged dinner with some of our most lucrative top designers. All four meals had to be taken back or corrected. A side of grilled asparagus was totally forgotten and upon paying the bill I was given back someone else's credit card! So embarrassing and unprofessional. Finally obtained the correct credit card from the worthless manager. No apologies no nothing. I get better service from the corner deli shop.
It's doubtful I will ever return, especially with guest.
2 nights in a row!
I think the fact that we dined here on two consecutive nights speaks for itself. We had a delicious dinner on both occasions and the service is 5 * perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. Iām gluten free (allergy) and they were very accommodating with plenty of options (most of the menu). It is well established and we thoroughly recommend it.

We hadn't been in awhile and it was great to see it hasn't lost it's edge. Food, service and the setting are as good as ever.
Excellently prepared and interesting dishes, without being over the top. Glad we rediscovered it.
Wonderful night at the Chef's table
We reserved the Chef's table for a party of 8 on a Saturday night. The food and the service were superb and they accommodated our varying dietary restrictions without missing a beat, even though we changed seats several times during the night so that we could all have a turn watching the kitchen.
