Top notch Korean BBQ
Arrived a little early for a Saturday 5pm reservation. Was seated immediately. Fast service and DELICIOUS barbecue and side dishes. Also, wonderful egg soufflรฉ. A couple things I wish Iโd known: 1) Gas BBQ, not coals 2) They cook the meat for you. 5 stars, highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyFood is good, Service and Noise are bad
We visited New York before Christmas and we used the opportunity to visit another Korean restaurant. Since Antoya has good rating in Trip Advisor, we booked one month in advance to get a table. I also told them, this would be my wife's Birthday. The food was good. Not great but good. The quality of the meat was ok, the spices and additional dishes were really good. The service however was not very good. Nobody really had time for us and everybody was in a hurry. After some guests of two tables in the same room left, the staff started to clean the table and remove the dirty dishes with an incredible noise. This is not what I expect in a restaurant of this price level. I expected a quiet, nice evening with my wife and not the atmosphere of a fast food restaurant. The information about the birthday of my wife was also useless - obviously lack of fantasy.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid - inappropriate booking and queueing practices
They put us in a waiting list and told us to come back in 45 minutes. We did. Then they made us wait for half an hour in a corner of the restaurant, which was freezing cold and drafty. It also got very crowded and we saw a group jumping ahead of us after arriving later, because there were 6 of them and a table for 6 had been freed (there were "only" 6 of us). Avoid this place unless you are OK with misleading information and queue jumping.
Be the first to ReplyWouldn't Rush Back. Food was good but very Expensive.
Average. Waited for a table. Alcohol was extremely expensive. Food was average. I had to repeatedly ask for things to be delivered to my table such as cutlery and drinks. We sort of got forgot about. Not the service you expect or want when your paying a tidy price for food. Onto the food.... It was cooked infront of us by staff. It tasted delicious. I couldn't fault the food at any point. The place was extremely busy and not the kind of place I would go for a relaxing meal....its full of chatter and rather noisy.....I appreciate though that the staff cannot legislate for this. All in all although the food was nice, this was reflected in the price and I don't feel it offered any value for money....prices should be altered to reflect the service delivered.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing place for a family night out
My daughter really like Korean food and we were referred to that restaurant for q family dinner while in Manhattan. This was simply the best choice . Great service, good food and best location.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Korean BBQ!
Superb food. It's crowded, loud -- but that is Korean BBQ! The service was great. We sat upstairs. We had a great time!
Be the first to ReplyGreat new dining experience!
Oh my, awesome Korean BBQ! Our server was so helpful and did a great job keeping us happy and well fed. The expense was worth it, quality ingredients and beef. Feel great after this meal. Weโd visit again!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food, dreadful atmosphere
Why do restaurants think noisy is better. We had a fantastic (but expensive) meal here and it even pleased our 4 1/2 year old and 10 year old grandchildren, but the noise level was horrific so we had to shout to be heard. Next to us 8 very loud people were crammed into a booth and were laughing and shouting the entire time. The staff was lovely. Just hard to relax with so much noise.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome Korean BBQ Spot
This review is on behalf of my husbad: Antoya is a great Korean BBQ spot to go with your friends. Excellent ambiance, service, drinks and food. We did not have to wait at all even when the place was crowded as we had a reservation. The drinks are fancy and have lights on it to make them cool. They obviously tasted very good and reasonably priced. Food is amazing. We got 2 beefs and 2 porks to BBQ. The food came very quickly and the waiter was always available to assist while we were BBQing or cooking the meat. They also refilled all of our sauces continuously to go with the meat before us even asking for more. Overall itโs a great place to go with the group of friends.
Be the first to ReplyWay overpriced
Cane with my daughter and had the beef for two about $125 for two. I expected a decent meal for that but after the boring personality devoid cook cooked out food at the table and we ate it I thought there would be more. We were done in about 30 mins and it was such a disappointment The meat was decent to be fair but way overpriced and not filling enough or exciting enough and the staff so surly

So freaking delicious. The banchan came immediately and was varied; the fried tofu was extraordinary, the kimchi crunchy and tangy, and the marinated green vegetable cleansed my palate. The bulgogi bibimbap lunch came sizzling hot. (Lots of the food sizzled: the barbecue at the next table, some small dish they doused with water sizzled and left a trail of steam as the waiter walked to the table.) I was disappointed there was no raw egg yolk - Iโll ask for one to be added next time. The Gochujang sauce had heat and was not too sweet. It came with soup which was light and comforting but I didnโt eat much of it because there was so much of everything else. The beef was tender and partnered well with all the vegetables in the hot stone bowl. Crunchy rice at the bottom, of course. I will go back.

The steaks were out of this world. Cooked perfectly. A great night out dining with family. An awesome experience but brush up on using chopsticks.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food & service
Both Ace & Carlos are so nice! Great spot - even though I couldnโt solve the cookie puzzle ๐ญ Kimchi jiigae is top notch

We loved this place! We went on a Friday night without reservations and could tell that it was the place to go. The wait wasnโt to long and the bar even had complementary drinks to make the time pass. We ordered a full menu and enjoyed it all. To be fully honest the pork belly was good but didnโt steal the show. The best was the sliced prime rib, Samwon Mandoo, and Chadol Kimchi rice ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ oh and donโt forget some peach soju โบ๏ธ
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Korean food, but pricy
The reviews are accurate and the Michelin rating is correct. Very pricy, but some of the best Korean I've ever had. Galbi jjim ribs, Samwon Mandoo potstickers, glass noodles, all excellent. If you have time, go inside and get meat fresh at the table. I ordered UberEats.

I canโt believe I had never had Korean food. It was a pleasant surprise. Fried Dumplings/Kimchi stew

Amazing food! Very good service, timing and food, the place is very cool. Canโt wait to be back in town to go there again.
Be the first to ReplyRookie Server Versus Vindictive Chef
One fallen star for a vindictive Chef.
We ordered the kimchi soup with tofu, sausages, ham and noodles but when we found that the sausages might contain beef, which we don't eat because of our Buddhism beliefs. Our lovely server Sue from Pennsylvania suggested that they could take the sausages out for us. I actually preferred the sundubu Jigae (tofu soup) with an add on of noodles. Unfortunately, they do not do an add on thing here eventhough we were willing to pay for it. The minute the kimchi stew was served, by another delivery staff, we noticed that there was sausages "mix beef" swimming in the stew... Err....if its not because of our beliefs, we...would most likely just have the stew without touching the sausages...but then we decided to point it out to Sue, which can usually happen with restaurants? However, when the chef sent out a replacement soup which was obviously the old stew minus the sausages but now also minus the ham and tofu as well? Even half the noodles was missing?? ๐
We couldn't help it but to be a bit of a nasty customer. The "replacement soup" was very thick and sauce like consistency. We don't blame Sue as she's very nice, in away she looked embarrassed by what the chef sent out to her customers.
Eventually Sue convinced the duty manager to take it off the bill. We appreciate her for that. We ended up ordered sundubu Jigae afterall. Four stars for Sue.
One of my favorite restaurants in New York!
As a Korean-American, I make it a point to spend some time in Koreatown whenever I visit NYC. I practically grew up on bulgogi and kimchi. This was the second time I'd eaten here, and I very much want to go again!
My wife and I occasionally like doing weekend getaways in the City. I had eaten here before, and wanted to take her here on this trip. I don't remember exactly what I ordered (I'm writing this review eight months after my visit), but I'm a big fan of beef short ribs, and I ordered something like that. They cooked them at our table, and they were VERY tasty!
(Note: I was here solo when I was here previously. They will ONLY cook at your table if you're a party of two or more; if you're alone, they won't cook at your table. Just something to be mindful about.)
There are not many (you can count them on one hand) Korean restaurants in the Albany/NY Capital District where I live, so my best options whenever I want a Korean dining fix are whenever I travel to NYC (or, whenever I visit my parents). Samwon Garden is one of my favorite places, and I will definitely eat here whenever I have an opportunity!
A great first time Korean BBQ experience!
Our first night in New York (our first night in America for that matter) and we were lucky enough to dine at the Samwon Garden. It was also our first Korean BBQ and we were not disappointed in either the food or the service. A very busy, bustling restaurant, we got a table on the third floor. Whilst we waited for our food, we got to watch the theatre of meals being prepared at nearby tables. An enjoyable night out for my family, tourists from Australia. As I write this now in August 2020, it is so hard to believe that we were in New York only in December. Stay safe and thanks for a wonderful memory.
