Underwhelming.
Firstly you have to wait in the foyer of a bland office building to be collected. And don’t forget you need to show ID for a pass. Then you go through airport style security, then one lift- cloakroom- then another lift! Finally there’s a toilet, a very average not fancy toilet, then the restaurant where they ask for your name again! The view is good but there are lots of good views in London and this isn’t enough to justify the extortionate pricing. I was really underwhelmed with the food. Fish full of bones and not much flesh, small side dishes and tiny starters. My family had steak- one loved it the other left quite a lot. Pudding was nice, one vegan option but made with soya. Wish we’d gone somewhere by a river without any of the palaver and no background music to have to raise voices over.
Be the first to ReplyFood Very Disappointing
After watching many years of Masterchef and this restaurant being on my must list when visiting London, finally the night has arrived. Building is iconic and ambiance in the restaurant was very good and evening view was great, but unfortunately food did not live up to expectations. Prawn cocktail was shrimps with 2 prawns placed on the top, poor quality of prawns. Monkfish was ok again nothing special, cassoulet had no depth of flavour, cherry tomatoes still cold. Ordered sautéed greens, served broccoli did mention this to Head Waiter, his reply thank you for feedback. Definitely not the response or food you would expect from one of London most iconic buildings.
Be the first to ReplyA lovely evening
We had an evening meal over the Christmas break. The food was delicious, and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
Be the first to ReplyPretty average
It was pretty average for quite a pricy set menu! Had the prawn cocktail… my grandma can do that. Monkfish was pretty normal, rubbery mussels with uber pricy sides! Service was ok and the view is obviously very nice but not worth the money.

I have to agree with previous reviews and say it seemed like 'We were an inconvenience' not customers. The level of service we received was appalling. Not the experience expected for the price paid. Beware if you are looking at booking an event.

We did the afternoon tea here for my mum's birthday and it was fantastic. The staff were so attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. My mum had the best time celebrating.

What a beautiful restaurant... with an amazing view of London. Lovely friendly staff who went above and beyond.... and it didn't disappoint..

Well, it looked inviting with the Rolls Royce but then it went downhill. Ordered two glasses of the Rose which was actually good but served in cheap quality PLASTIC glasses. When I queried this, I was advised "some people like to walk around the shops with them", so it's safer. My reply was if I had known I would never have ordered. Champagne in plastic glasses is a no no. Why do they not state this? If I hadn't been treating a friend, I would have left there and then. Also, it is card only- again this is not stated. Service was indifferent. Pity.

Do not recommend. Staff were not up to the standard expected with this kind of restaurant experience, we often felt we were in the way and an inconvenience. The views were good, and the actual restaurant atmosphere was lovely, but the food and staff were disappointing. Bar service was poor as well.

Had afternoon tea. The food was average. Sandwiches unimaginative, desserts not refined and too heavy, poor textures and strong flavours. Service was excellent. Felt the table could have been moved to make the most of the view, considering the restaurant was empty. Instead all window tables were empty and we sat away from the window with half our party with their backs to the view. Did not feel it reached the price charged of 55£ plus service plus extras we ordered. The atmosphere was ok, restaurant very quiet so not much ambiance. The view was good, nice to be high up to get a different view of London.
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon Tea Overlooking London's Most Iconic View at The Gherkin
Walking into The City of London by itself feels like a treasure hunt. The hustle and bustle on the streets, people all suited up all mixed with the magnitude of historical buildings and brand new developments. Sounds like the ultimate place to explore any time of the year, right? What if you could experience all of that plus an extraordinary Afternoon tea overlooking London's most

From arrival to departure we had the highest quality of service you could wish for. Formal but relaxed feeling for the entire visit, which is down to the exceptional service given. Nothing was too much trouble. Stunning views & service, along with the standard of the food served made our visit a very special experience. Would highly recommend for a special treat
Be the first to Replydo not use for private hires
a few weeks ago i had a private dinner for a client and the sales team has been incredibly rude and unhelpful. we have been threatened several times with losing the venue for not meeting deadlines we weren't aware of. i have organised many private dinners over the years, and I have never experienced such a lack of care and rudeness from the sales team - when asking for clarifications, they would say "that's in the contracts" and nothing else, they haven't provided any sort of direction for people to access the venue, many weren't made aware ID was needed etc. and the thing that was the most disrespectful was the tone of the people from the sales team - they wouldn't call back, they would give one word answers etc. i will never work with them again and I strongly recommend against this venue after this experience
Be the first to ReplyGreat service for Platinum Jubilee Afternoon tea - food amount could be improved
Visited for the special Platinum Jubilee afternoon tea on the Saturday over the Jubilee weekend - £55 pp plus service so approx £62 in the end. Unfortunately I was feeling unwell on the morning and I thought it best to have my partner go with his sister instead of me (we had only booked for 2 of us). Because they insist on having the names of guests, I therefore had to change this. I called a few times and there was no answer. I left a voicemail and emailed. This was eventually picked up after 45 mins plus and email confirmed it was fine. By then I had started feeling better and I felt like I didn't want to miss out (!) so I tried to call and email to confirm if we could change the booking to 3 people and I could attend also. Again, no answer from phones and left voicemail. In the end my partner asked when he arrived and I decided to just go along anyway and hope for the best - which was lucky as it was ok. The table was set for 2 and they managed to fit an extra person space on so this was excellent service for which I am very grateful. I understand I was very fortunate they could accommodate this and it would have been very annoying for them that I chopped and changed like this! However, if I had been able to get through to someone to speak in person without having to leave a voicemail/email and wait for a response, then perhaps I could have discussed all of this in person on the first call and there would have been more time for them to resolve this! Nevertheless, I am very appreciative of their efforts here. The views were wonderful and the food itself was great quality. However I do feel the sandwiches themselves were quite limited. (I did wonder if maybe they had not got enough food in, given the fact I had asked to add an extra person to the booking last minute but I checked other tables and it was the same all around so this was their standard amount). There was a canape sized bite of coronation chicken and then three small fingers sandwiches each - so the equivalent of less than 1 "normal" sized sandwich per person. Sandwiches were not offered to be replenished either - as they have been at all other afternoon teas I have been at in London like the Ritz/Dorchester/Claridges etc. These are, to be fair, more expensive though, so perhaps my expectations were a bit out. I would have expected maybe 2 more finger sized sandwiches per person for the price point. I should point out that the scones and cakes were a satisfactory amount and good quality (2 scones pp and a selection - I believe 4 cakes/bites). We took home leftovers of the cakes. Overall I am very appreciative of the service and efforts made to accommodate these changes for the booking at the last minute. I think for the price itself I had expected a little more sandwiches but I guess if you take into account the wonderful views, then some of the money you are paying goes towards this as part of the experience. I would recommend.
Be the first to ReplyA beautiful setting.
We took a family member to afternoon tea at Searcy’s. Despite the rainy weather, it was lovely to sit near the windows and look out at the view. The afternoon tea is priced similarly to others, and you have the benefit of having a view outside, and a view of the inside of the Gherkin too. Most of the food items were great, and the staff member looking after us was nice.
Be the first to ReplyOK but not worth the money
The location is nice, but view is not as overwhelming as expected - most tables do not offer a view to tower and tower bridge as the windows are looking into another direction and there are some higher buildings when looking towards the city/river. Food is quite average compared to the price. Included sides are to small and offered sides (fries or small boiled potatoes) do not match with the offered dishes. Service is friendly. If you want to go for the view, go to the bar which is above the restaurant, has a better 360 degree view, nice cocktails and is reasonably priced.
Be the first to ReplyTHE PERFECT AFTERNOON TEA!
Treated a friend to a Jubilee Afternoon Tea on a special birthday of hers that very day. We were welcomed into the Gherkin and, throughout the afternoon, all staff were courteous, friendly and most efficient. We sat by the window on a gloriously sunny day and the views were magnificent. So was the food!!! A delightful selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes, all of which were delicious, accompanied by a glass of chilled rose (well, two actually!!). Altogether a very different experience from Afternoon Tea in the more regular venue of a London hotel. Highly recommended!!
Be the first to ReplyDon’t trust your booking
Booked a afternoon tea a few weeks ago for special family birthday, today they rang to say they were cancelling as they had a corporate do. So money on fares and hotel wasted.

Booked for my partner’s birthday, everything was perfect. We were lucky enough to have an amazing view as the weather was amazing 🤩 Food was delicious, decent portions, beautifully presented. Service was amazing, our waitress was very friendly, attentive and professional. I would absolutely recommend this place, especially for special occasions.

I booked searcys at the top of the gherkin for my wife’s birthday it was the only day that week that it poured with rain I was really misty so you couldn’t see much this was at 5 o’clock in the evening so when the lights went on on Tower Bridge at least you could see some of the sites. When you go up to a restaurant they don’t tell you there are quite a few lifts and the one you want is round the corner make sure it goes to the 38th floor then you walk up to the 39th we had a nice bottle of wine it was quiet when we got there but gradually filled up well worth a visit will go again hopefully on a sunny day.

We visited for a special occasion and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! It was a shame about the weather on the day but the afternoon tea was delicious and staff also accommodated dishes to me being vegetarian and a bit awkward which was much !
Be the first to ReplyLeft a Bit if a bad taste
I’ve pre booked there a valentines afternoon tea, so all payed
very welcoming staff, very friendly, food very good
But….. i must say it left a bit o a bad taste really
What should i start with
Maybe a bit more attention to the details
The starter was a nice salmon , then the sandwiches, and all the savery, scones etc
For that price and and the level of service I would’ve expected to change our plates after the salmon starter, as who wants their scones or deserts taste fishy? Ok wasn’t that bothered about that
We ordered two cocktails, like £32 for both
When the bill came , was obviously expected to pay for the cocktails £32
What annoyed me was that there were two service table charges on the bill, for £30 odd ,
Ok I understand for the afternoon tea yeah a service charge would apply
But on the two cocktails they brought was a separate service charge of £14 just to bring it to the table?
Almost the price of one cocktail, well i think that was a bit over the top, why split it into two and make it more obvious?
But I’ve enjoyed it
Wonderful experience
From the moment we stepped in the lobby the team made us welcome. Each member of staff was friendly , approachable and knowledgeable so that we felt immediately at ease. Our table overlooked the Thames and the Monument so provided an impressive view for my husbands Birthday meal. The food was delicious including the gluten free choices and specially prepared bread.

My boyfriend booked dinner here as a surprise for my birthday and what else can i say expect wow! The views are absolutely amazing and leave you star struck(better at night time). We sat at a table right infront of the window and could see everything perfectly. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming and so polite! We had a waitress with tattoos who was such a lovely woman, she was nothing but helpful and lovely and we would've left her a tip if we had cash! The food was lovely and was so rich and flavourful, definitely worth the money! Cocktails were a bit pricey however a nice treat for a special occasion. Couldn’t recommend this place enough !
