Fabulous night
Second visit this time for dinner ( Saturday night ) Few drinks in the bar pre meal , lovely service and great cocktails Great table on the elevated floor in front of the fish tank Super service , attentive without overbearing Four different starters along with four different main courses along with rice and sweet potato side dish Four mini doughnuts to share
Be the first to ReplyRefusal to handle the Complaint Procedure
We had a pleasant time for the shared starters until we've been told we cannot order the food we wanted, to be specific from the 3 columns from the right hand side of the menu. The kind waiter advised that kitchen staff are not prepared to put so much time in preparing both choices of food for 2 columns, we were only allowed to order 1 column each. This is a business they're calling themselves "fine dining", yet we never came across a restaurant to tell us what we can eat or cannot. I have not found this under and terms or conditions, nor this being a policy of the restaurant, it is simple a decision the chefs took it in order to save time, looking for their own gain, not customers's satisfaction. I have escalated this with huge efforts to the assistant manager and then the general manager but they've ignored my dissatisfaction and also totally refused to send me the "Complaint Procedure" saying "we are not required to send you the Complaint Procedure", yet this is a legal requirement. I wanted to give names of the above people and attach evidences like emails but TripAdvisor don't allow private names or emails to be shared here. We've spent over £300 for our bill and looking to spend over £200 more, also booked hotel accommodation for that night to have an outrageous customer service experience from the management of the restaurant. I'm trying to escalate this to the chairman of Caprice Holdings to expose our experience and lack of respect, customer care of the management of Sexy Fish Manchester who are in breech of their own Complaint Procedure.

This place is Sexy! Not only is it so aesthetically pleasing to the eye, the food is to die for! You won’t be disappointed, amazing service!
Be the first to ReplyAwful treatment by the staff
Awful front of house staff. We visited on an evening where there must have been 2 people in the entire place. There was 4 of us so we thought we’d give it a try as it was empty. We walked in and asked for a table of 4. They looked us up and down and rather Rudely said they was fully booked and couldn’t enter without a reservation! We said we only wanted 1 drink and would leave straight after. Again they said we wasn’t allowed in. We asked if it was so quiet why couldn’t we had one drink? Then they said as I was wearing a hoodie we wasn’t allowed in (I was wearing a blazer over the top and looked smart) it was freezing outside as it was late on in the evening. I said I’m happy to take the hoodie off as I was only wearing it to keep warm. They said I’d already broke the dress code and we was asked to leave?😂After leaving we rang up to book a table and told it wasn’t necessary as they was having a quiet evening!!! How shocking!!! We couldn’t believe the way we was treated😂😂
Be the first to ReplyI really wanted to love this place
I have been dying to come to this place after seeing it on social media. Finally was able to come at the weekend as a group of 4 and left feeling really disappointed. We were recommended 2 plates per person, whilst they were delicious, the portions were so small we were all starving still afterwards! Lots of staff but no one came to ask us how the food was or if we wanted another drink, even after trying to get their attention. Lots of cocktails out of stock, had 2 drinks in a 2 hour sitting which on a Saturday night out was poor. Venue is stunning inside and is perfect for some insta pics! Absolutely guttered that we didn’t love the place as we now probably wouldn’t come back.
Be the first to ReplySunday brunch wow
Came for Sunday brunch. Food amazing staff amazing. We took a 5 yr old n he was a little naughty the staff offered to keep him entertained a little but we declined. It was amazing every bit of it !
Be the first to ReplyStyle (?!) over substance
It’s all a bit over-the-top at Sexy Fish. They’ve clearly spent a fortune on how it looks and then seem to have run out of steam. To my taste the place is borderline tacky. Geared up for the Insta opportunities but not so great on the food or drink. Cocktails were decidedly meh, and the food was underwhelming. Overpriced for what you get. On a positive note though, the service was very good. Many better places to go in the Spinningfields area. Won’t be returning.
Be the first to ReplyBirthday treat
Went here for a family birthday celebration and it was fantastic. The food was exceptional, yes it is a bit pricey but well worth it. We had one of the set menu options - be aware that if you go for this they don't mix and match so the 4 in our party who wanted a set menu all had the same one, however other members then chose from the a la carte. The service was prompt, helpful and friendly, a great range of cocktails, and the decor is stunning. I was even given a birthday dessert treat - all in all a wonderful evening, highly recommend it as a great dining experience
Be the first to ReplyWOW! One of the best dining experiences anywhere
WOW! I could easily end my review of Sexy Fish with that one word, as it sums up everything about this incredible restaurant. I have had the privilege of dining in some pretty amazing restaurants over the years, but I never expected one of the best to be in Manchester. Sexy Fish turns on the charm as soon as you walk in the door with its beautiful decor and incredible ambience, but that’s only a prelude of things to come. When the dining experience begins, that is when it becomes truly memorable. Sampling a delectable cocktail whilst perusing the menu choices, we eventually settled upon the Sekushi Omakase menu that would take us on our 10 course culinary adventure. Each course came immaculately presented, and picking a favourite was almost impossible as I can genuinely say that there was not a weak course among them. Maybe it was the sushi & sashimi, or maybe the sea-bass, or how about the lamb rack? Oh how could I go past the cheesecake and sexy treats? They were all simply delectable! As Manchester is 5,000km from home, my next goal will be to visit the other Sexy Fish locations around the world to compare; as you can’t get too much of a good thing!
Be the first to ReplySexy Fish. Tasty Food / OK Experience 3*
Feedback: -Lovely place - The tables are extremely small for 2 people and were crammed into a tight space to seat more people, but this made it more uncomfortable when eating - The tables were so close together when the waiter was bringing food to the table next to us, they had their back in our faces. -Food was fresh, hot and really tasty - lovely to have DJ - the doughnuts were amazing Conclusion: For us and our experience it was a one time visit for a special occasion. It is not somewhere to eat regularly and the experience was not good enough to entice us to come back. Whilst the food was very tasty, the portions were extremely small for a very large price.
Be the first to ReplyVery Disappointed
I would not recommend this restaurant! The food was 10/10 the service was horrendous, we had to wait 20 mins for our table, each dish came out 5 mins apart, 6 servers just walked past every 5 minutes placing food on our table, guests were left with no food at all and the guests that had some food did not have a complete dish, staff were rude. To say it was for a special occasion and the price you pay I was very disappointed and I will not be returning.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing place
Went for lunch at this place . The Resturant is amazing , great food , service and location . Loads of choice and amazing service
Be the first to ReplyAll style but little substance
Stunning decor and probably the best service I’ve had in any restaurant in Manchester. However…. The food was a huge let down. It was very bland and basic. Nearby Ivy Asia and Tattu are far superior.
Be the first to ReplyOverall great experience
We had such a great experience at Sexy Fish on Saturday night. Extremely attentive service from our waiter Thomas, great cocktails & wine, and exceptional food.
Be the first to ReplyWe wanted to love this place but….
Shout out to Sophie she is very good at customer service, she is the only staff that made us feel welcome. Some of the staff just kept budging into us whilst we were sat down, at some point my dad ended up having his drink knocked over and no one replaced this, we didn’t make a fuss. We picked this place so we could celebrate our dad’s 60th…. As a milestone birthday we thought the reception would have been good …Very underwhelming… The atmosphere is dull! The food is served as a sharing concept but the quality is not that great. Better off going to Ivy Asia in Leeds much better customer service great atmosphere, delicious food, and they really celebrate birthdays well genuinely not just sticking a candle on a desert you bought and throwing it at the table. Vibes were off!!
Be the first to ReplySteven at Manchwstwr sexyfish
Shout out to the staff member Steven at Manchester Sexyfish, he was passionate and enthusiastic towards his job and ourselves as customers, he was amazing from start to finish. Which is the opposite to the greeting we received at the front of the restaurant by ladies who were rude, belittling and obnoxious. Thank you to Steven for making our experience amazing!
Be the first to ReplyBlown away by the atmosphere, service and food!
Setting - 5/5 Stunning artwork, lighting and had the ‘wow’ factor. Atmosphere 5/5 Came here at lunchtime for an event but even without the evening entertainment the atmosphere was ideal. Service 5/5 Each and everyone went above and beyond, from the initial welcome, to be seating, ordering food and drinks to any other requests. Food 5/5 Loved it. I’m a big fan of Asian fusion food but it can sometimes be beauty over taste, not here. A great combination of food, my favourites were the salt and pepper squid, Eryngii Tempura, spicy tuna Maki rolls and the crispy duck salad. For dessert the amazing Sexy Dessert Platter, wow! Overall, one of my new favourite restaurants 👏🏽
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing & underwhelming - the quickest & most expensive meal I have ever had
We visited sexy fish for my birthday meal this month and unfortunately left with a bitter taste in our mouths. A day before our visit, I had been called to confirm the booking and the lady I spoke with stressed to try arrive 5 minutes early to have a drink at the bar as if we were more than 15 minutes late our table would no longer be guaranteed (granted this is the case at most, if not all restaurants). I was also informed we would have the table for two hours. So as suggested we arrived promptly 5 minutes early to our 7:30pm booking, unaware we would have to wait 25 minutes to be seated. We waited at the bar and struggled to order a drink, it was near impossible to even make eye contact with the bar staff and when we asked to order a bottle of wine he told us to wait until we were seated as someone would go through the wines with us however we already knew what we wanted to order as we had plenty time to scour the wine list by that point. Finally, at 10 to 8 we were taken to our table, which was in a lovely spot and our server was very friendly and super helpful as we decided what to order. The dishes we picked were excellent, however we expected more for the price. “Scallop skewers “ for £16 was a bit misleading - £8 a bite. Considering this is a Japanese restaurant, I would recommend going elsewhere if you are wanting decent sushi in Manchester as it was subpar. The tuna tataki was gorgeous but again the portion size was a shock as we were informed all dishes were meant for sharing. After 6 dishes, we decided we would get another bottle of wine and had seen our neighbouring table order a few dishes we thought we would like to try and asked for the menus back. Shortly after as I was looking at the menu, a different server came across to the table and very abruptly asked “are you going to order more or not as you only have the table for twenty more minutes?” It made us feel very rushed and considering we had been seated twenty minutes late at no fault of our own it really put us off. Our original server returned and asked if we would like to order more and I informed them of what the other server had said. He suggested we could order another glass of wine and stand at the bar. We decided we would just leave it and get the bill. No birthday gesture, which I feel would’ve made the visit feel more special. Don’t even bother putting it on your booking as it makes no difference to the service you get. We left feeling very underwhelmed and can say we won’t be visiting again. Completely overhyped and pretentious, it seems the staff just want you in and out. Unless you’re sole purpose for visiting is getting a good instagram, I would avoid if you want a decent night out in Manchester.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service from walking in on arrival to meal
Been here three times and this was the fourth . When we entered we were ignored until eventually the young lady stopped chatting and spoke to us. We were shown to a table which was nicely set up but too small to take all the food we ordered. The staff kept changing all the time which was confusing. I ordered the duck salad which was my favourite when it arrived it was nothing like the duck salads I’d had previously. There was no salad just a bit of leaf on top. When mentioned was told they would exchange they didn’t . Four different waiters later and still not changed ! We had jasmine tea which is usually topped up with hot water but it was just hot water , they had tipped the tea out 😳 The food was still very good but totally overpriced at £178 for two at lunchtime with that one cocktail 🍸 You can easily go to a Michelin star restaurant with A1 service and top quality tasting menu for that . Trip to Ambleside where there are two less than 3 mins walk from each other Won’t be rushing back and the managers need a lesson in customer service . Not impressed at all.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, but not the level of service I expected
Just wanted to share my review on a latest visit to Sexy Fish Manchester. It was my second visit after I visited back in November 2023. Back in November I took my daughter to your restaurant on a special occasion and it was spectacular - 5/5 . Really enjoyed every minute of it. Followed by success on a last visit I decided to invite my mother for a lunch on my Birthday on 22/03/24. I must admit - I was more than disappointed with my last visit. I did mention during the booking that it’s a special occasion - my birthday and also when I had a follow up call I mentioned what was the purpose of the visit. But looks like the restaurant didn’t make a big deal of that. There was no acknowledgment of a special occasion at all. Even a lower range restaurants usually going extra mile and at least offering a little Happy Birthday plate that cost nearly nothing to company, but makes a huge difference to a customer. Well nothing like that was offered on my latest visit. On a top of that there was a slight mix up with orders - we only got 1 miso soup and after I mentioned it the second one arrived later. Also I had to wait for main main meal for a while - had to mention it twice to the waiter. And it was only a salmon. So we left the place with a bitter taste. On departure we were asked is there anything you could improve and I said there was no acknowledgment of my special occasion and then I was asked - what do you mean? Did we not say Happy Birthday to you or something? Not what I was expected to hear. The food was still good, but the experience was really poor.
