Six by Nico London Reviews from The Last Year
One of the best meals I’ve ever had
One of the best food experiences I’ve ever had. Every course got better than the last and I didn’t want it to end. Massive shoutout to our server Karen who has the biggest smile on her face the whole time. She so thoughtfully explained each dish and paired wine and just added her own personal touch. Had my birthday meal here and it absolutely made my day. Thank you. Can’t wait to return!
Six great courses with a good pairing of wines for a uplift
Ok so me and the girlfriend went here twice one was for the once upon a time menu back in September last year and February this year for the mad hatters theme one too, both times was superb!! As far as I’m aware this is a pre book only restaurant so don’t just turn up hoping to get in, The food was amazing and you have a option of paying a up lift for a pairing wine with each dish, my advice is to get one pairing wine and share with who ever you go with as it’s worth trying but can be pricey, the wines have been carefully selected and paired extremely well and I loved every dish they put in front of us, we have been twice and would def go again but with a pairing wine and if you buy the sides and cocktails your looking at least £200.00 for 2 people so certainly a place as a treat or occasion.
Fun menu, first time visitor
Having just arrived back from a trip to Asia including Hanoi, it was fortuitous to see Six by Nico had a Hanoi taster menu. We arrived early and had a cocktail and then the taster meal and wine pairing. We all loved it. Great service. Explanations on the wines. And decent price for a taster menu I felt. Tempted to try NY next.
Fantastic birthday treat
Waited a while to visit and wasn't disappointed My husband surprised me with a visit here on Saturday for my birthday. We had the Hanoi experience with wine flight which was really great. The service from the moment we arrived was impeccable and each dish and wine was explained to us. The food was really lovely and I cannot wait to visit.again.
Wouldn’t rush back
Went with my mum to celebrate what would have been my dad’s birthday. The food was okay but for the price we paid the whole experience was slightly underwhelming. The first course was brought out before drinks had arrived (and all subsequent courses were brought very quickly making the meal feel very rushed). We ordered some bread thinking this would be brought before the dishes giving us time to settle in and look forward to the rest of the taster menu but the bread was brought after the first course as more of a side dish. Service was good and staff were friendly although we had multiple different waiters bringing food/ clearing the table only adding to the feeling of it being very rushed. This said they were knowledgeable about the food and clearly passionate which was nice. Food itself was okay and the atmosphere was nice. For the price we paid though I wouldn’t rush back as though it was nice, it didn’t feel particularly special (and we still had over half a bottle of wine by the time we’d eaten all 6 courses it was so rushed).
Taster Menue where everything tastes the same.
This place was fully booked for months so we anticipated a fantastic meal. The staff are great. The service was spot on. The food however, was very disappointing. The theme was Hanoi so were expecting all the culinary delights of Vietnam. Unfortunately Nico failed to deliver. The whole point of a taster menu is to experience a variety of flavours, If I closed my eyes it would be very difficult to tell one dish from the other. The 1st course just tasted of a tomato ragu, no shellfish flavour at all. The 2nd course contained a stodgy spring roll with no filling and the crispy prawn was burnt. The 3rd course was their take on a Vietnamese Pho which is supposed to be light, tangy, spicy and full of flavour. We received a bowl of over reduced, salty marrowbone stock poured over some noodles and mince beef which was described as smoked. It was not. The 4th course was fish so I opted for the vegetarian version. I received a small bland cauliflower florette which was simply boiled and plonked on the plate. The 5th course was was the glazed chicken. It was glazed rubber. Neither me or my wife at the desert. It was not "Delice" as described but extremely bitter. Everything tasted the same and everything was far too salty. I don't understand why this place is so full, I noticed that many of the table near us all had vouchers so I guess this is their business model. One off experieinces. In my experience I wont be returning.
Incredible Experience
I took my Dad here for a birthday treat and we were both absolutely blown away by the whole experience. Somehow each course seemed better than the previous one and was the perfect amount to delight your tastebuds but leave you wanting more. We also chose to do the pairing wines which were all brilliantly chosen to match the intricate dishes. There was an incident with one of the courses that was handled very swiftly and professionally and we were given complementary drinks to finish our meal. Our waitress, Fey, was wonderfully attentive and thoroughly enhanced our whole experience, thank you.
Great experience
What’s not to like about six by Nico? Nothing really, the service was outstanding and the atmosphere was equal measures of cool and welcoming. we had the funfair menu and we loved most of the food, although in hindsight would probably not have opted for the extra portion of ribs. it was quite surprising how much food you actually got, even though it was fairly small portions it’s soon filled you up Is very clever, and I would definitely return to sample another one of the menus another time
Superb!
Amazing service, food was an absolute taste sensation. We had the Hanoi menu, it was superb. The servers described each course and kept my wine glass topped up, first class!
Bad service and bad food
Terrible bar staff at the London venue. Went there with my family and the coffee took 20minutes as she was chatting the while time. Chef shouting over other chef in an open kitchen and with strong languages. Food was not made to standard and took very long. Would never go again.
My wife's niece and her hubby had a long-standing
My wife's niece and her hubby had a long-standing reservation at Six By Nico and asked us to join them once we finalized our somewhat last-minute plans to visit them for New Year's. I am very pleased that they did. This is an interesting concept. They change the six-course tasting menu every six weeks and we arrived for the tail end of their ¨Tokyo¨ theme. The six courses costs just £39 and you can add wine pairing for another £30, for a total of £79 if you go that route. Unfortunately, I had to drive my three accompanying tea-tot tellers, so none of us imbibed much to my chagrin. They have a ¨Regular¨menu and a ¨Vegetarian¨menu, so everybody was happy. I went with the regular menu, so I cannot review the vegetarian option other than to say that the vegetarian in our party seemed quite happy. Course 1: Chicken Karaage - Crispy chicken thigh, togarashi (whatever that is), and orogi shoga ginger. The crispy, diamond-shaped little critter was garnished with pretty little orange flowers and greens and two little blobs of yellow cream, the togarashi and orogi shoga ginger I had assumed. It was delicious and a great start to our meal. Course 2: Tempura - Crisp enoki mushroom, pickled daikon, and ponzu. The mushroom looked like a piece of coral, tempura style, and it was surrounded by some more small globules that looked like chocolate, a big blob that looked very similar in color with a crispy round thing on top, and some other red blobs that turned out be quite spicy, probably chili-based. The mushroom itself was crispy and the brown paste tasted like a mushroom concoction of some kind but, when combined, it was extremely flavorful. Course 3: Oknoiyaki - Pork and prawn pancake, okonomi sauce, and Japanese mayonnaise. This was one of my favorite courses. The pancake looked and tasted like half of a tart, pastry or pie rather than a pancake and was drizzled with white stuff, likely the mayo, and topped with freshly picked watercress and some other weeds. It was savory, complex in texture and taste, and a winner in my book ... HOOAH! Course 4: Miso Sea Bass - Tokyo turnip, shimeji mushroom, egg yolk jam, and kombu dashi. I am not a huge fish lover, but the bass was perfectly cooked and seared to a golden brown, sitting atop some stringy white things which I assumed were the mushrooms. There was a tiny little egg yolk on the plate and a crispy gyoza, then our server poured a warm, brownish broth on top. The combination of the sea bass, mushroom, a little egg yolk and a piece of gyoza in every bite was sublime. Hey, I like fish after all! Course 5: Tonkatsu - Panko pork cutlet, glazed belly, cabbage, hokkaido pumpkin, and yakitori ham jam. This was the best course of the bunch. I am not sure which was the cutlet and which was the belly, but there were two of them on the plate, one with sliced cabbage on top, along with a big orange splotch (pumpkin I assume), a smaller round yellow one, and a cylindrical brown one. Whatever they were, they were scrump-diddly-sumptuous! I alternated tasting the meats with the different blobs and I have to say they were all great ... we have a winner! Course 6: Strawberry Candy - White chocolate, matcha cake, and candy strawberry. Finally, the dessert course. On the plate was a white chocolate rectangular parfait of some kind with a couple of red lobs on top accompanied by a kind of strawberry mousse/ice cream, a couple of sliced strawberries, and some green stuff that looked like kale. Oh, yeah, there was a shard of red glass made of sugar sticking out of the whole thing. The white chocolate bar was creamy and yummy, the strawberry parfait equally as good, the red blobs I was not sure about but they were sweet, and the kale also turned out to be a confection of some kind. I was very impressed by the complexity and the artistic panache of the dish ... YES! I have never been attracted to foo-foo restaurants with their tiny portions and massive prices, but this place was THE BOMB. A beautifully presented six-course tasting menu of delicious varieties in a Tokyo theme, even if I had no idea what most of the ingredients were, all for just 40 Quid. Impressive! Much to my surprise, we all left satiated, not stuffed, raving about the food, whatever it was, and how we wanted to come back and try the next menu - Mad Hatter's Tea Party or something along those lines. The only negative was the aloofness and insincerity of some of the servers. With one exception, they were disengaged and phony as they described the courses. As I have mentioned in other reviews, Generation Z seems to be producing socially incompetent humans, not surprising because they only know how to talk to each other via SMS or on social media. CombatCritic Gives Six By Nico 9 Bombs Out Of 10 And A Spot On MY ¨WALL OF FAME¨... More Bombs Are Better ... HOOAH again!
Food( we had the best of 2023) the food was amazing my fave
Food( we had the best of 2023) the food was amazing my fave is the fish course(sea bass) I liked everything but i thing the chicken karaage was a bit salty, the what's come first the chicken or the egg was missing something. I think it was a bit mono-tonal for a dish I did not like the wine paired with the dessert I don't think it matches well even thought the dessert had some acidity the wine was to sweet to really complement the dessert I think a stella rosa or novelino wine would have complemented the dessert well Service was great ( the servers knows notes and flavors of the wines being serve and knowledge of the food being served) Ambiance was okey it doesn't look special but it does look cozy Over all experience is amazing definitely coming back.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Newbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
