Good, fun, inexpensive
A one Michelin star restaurant where four people can eat for €30 (€7.50 per person, yes!) there aren't many. Here, this 10-seat establishment only serves one dish: soba, which is buckwheat pasta in a soup with various accompaniments. This dish is truly delicious and to cope with the crowds that its reputation attracts, the restaurant has had to establish very rigid rules: every day from 5:30 p.m. customers must come on site to register and choose a slice. schedule and draw a numbered voucher. During the selected time slot, customers who must be present are called in chronological order as one of the 10 places in the restaurant becomes available. At the entrance you choose your dish (there are only 3 choices) and pay. Only by card and not in cash, contrary to the practice in Japan. As a drink there is only water. Once seated, you are served immediately and you must eat without waiting. It is forbidden to telephone, take photos, have long conversations and hang out at the table. If you violate these rules, you will be called to order and may even be expelled. When you are finished, clear your place and leave the premises. Another commenter here mentioned the “Nazi soup” from the series Seinfeld, which is very well seen.

My husband and I ate here and really enjoyed the food. I want to give my experience based on some of the other negative reviews I’ve seen. We arrived about 5 minutes after opening and got a ticket for spot #23. It took a little less than an hour to be seated. They do seat you in sequential order, but if you are not there after a couple numbers have been called past your number then you probably won’t get seated. I didn’t find the staff rude at all; just very efficient haha. We did not feel rushed at any point, but it’s definitely not a place to linger and socialize. Once you’re seated, the food comes very quickly, you eat and focus on the food, and then leave. If this isn’t your expectation going in, then I can see how you could get a negative impression. The food itself, we enjoyed very much. It was one of the best meals we had while in Japan. I am super sensitive to seafood taste, so I was worried their clam-based broth would be too fishy tasting to me. I couldn’t taste anything like that and thought it was delicious. I also like that they provided a self serve water pitcher which I didn’t find to be common at a lot of restaurants. They also provided forks for your convenience, which is definitely not common.

I expected a lot from Japanese cuisine and that was the case in many aspects. Unfortunately, I came away disappointed with the ramen. I simply expected fireworks in Japan and thought we would be ashamed of what is served in Europe, but that was not the case. This ramen bar has been awarded 1 Michelin star as confirmation of this. While eating this dish, I wondered how many Michelin stars “MUKU” in Frankfurt (best ramen in Europe for me) should have. 2? But it could also be that I still don’t understand many details of this dish. Back to the topic. The most important thing for me, the broth, was somehow not perfect and lacked the depth that you feel with MUKU, for example. The second most important component, the noodles, were solid but not outstanding. Chashu totally disappointed me and the marinated egg was just OK. All in all, extremely average. The soup costs 9.50 EUR, so generally cheap, as in Japan. I waited in line for 30 minutes (be careful, before you get in line you have to register on the pad in front of the restaurant and get a number, and then confirm it again by email). The service is, like everywhere in Japan, extremely friendly and helpful. You order the dishes from a vendor machine and it's all very easy. BofG - Come back/Recommendation factor (0-100%): 30% I wouldn't even recommend coming and trying it once. I wasted my time and space in my stomach here.

To All Michelin restaurants hunters. First of all, the red Michelin certificate on the entry door is from 2018, at least 5 years old. Second, if you expect superb delicious food in an upscale ambience, this is not your place. To get there, you will have to get the number at 5:30. If you do not stick at the door till 6:30, you will not be seated according to your number, because they do not honor the numbers in a sequence. After all, you will have a bowl of a ramen soup, which in my opinion is not better then in many other places. Since Michelin aura made this restaurant very popular, there is a crowd outside waiting for you to leave. The owner put a sign asking you out of respect to others to eat fast, not to have long conversation with your party and others. Just eat and go away. In my opinion, we wasted an evening in Tokyo. Food itself – ton of noodles with broth with 2 pieces of ham and traces of some other stuff. I think this is what ramen should be, but I have no idea what does it have to do with Michelin.

The venue is very small and therefore cannot accommodate a large number of people. As soon as you arrive you take a ticket and get in line waiting for your turn. Our queue lasted 20min. You can choose between three types of ramen. The staff tries to manage the large number of customers as best as possible. The dishes are plentiful and delicious! Between us we only spent €15!! The only rules of the place are not to waste too much time at the tables to give everyone the opportunity to sit down and not to take photos of the staff, but only of the dishes. The conditions don't seem so impossible to me since you eat very well and pay little. I have read many reviews complaining about rudeness, but I honestly think that on the other side of the world we can also adapt a little and try to understand the circumstances.

Went there at 630pm, had just a few groups infront of us, didn't know that you must have a ticket until we are in the front after queueing for 15mins and there's no more tickets, since they already gave out all the ticket. They should have the courtesy to check everyone in queue and not waste our time. Won't be going back there again.

extremely rude staff. They make sure that your experience is terrible by all means. You are constantly told to eat and leave which is difficult considering the ramen is hot. While it does taste good, it is nothing special. 1/10.

The soba was interesting, but not among the best in Tokyo by a long shot. Of the Michelin star rated restaurant I’ve eaten at, this is the only one which left me wondering why it got the rating - maybe it’s declined, as happens to some restaurants after they get awards.
Separate from the food, the service was quite rude - the only interaction I’ve ever had in Japan which I’d call extremely rude. We were pressured to eat faster after being seated for only 10 minutes (clock time, no exaggeration). My wife texted me a question, and the waiter came to tell me not to look at my phone. The waiter started coming by every 2 minutes while I was eating to tell us that other customers were waiting. The table next to us was empty. As we left, we saw a 3 person line. We were out 15 minutes after being seated, regretting we had entered.
Worth the Wait
Perhaps the best soba I've had in Tokyo. I arrived ~5-6 minutes before opening and waited a little over an hour before I got my bowl of noodles. It definitely deserves its star. Just know what to expect of small ramen shops, especially as the demand here is so high. Expect a long wait for a rather short experience and tons of people waiting behind you. If you want to take your time and enjoy precise service, go to a full-service restaurant.
Also note that you can only order one bowl of noodles and can't get more noodles - that was a slight annoyance, but understandable given the demand.

Based on the great reviews of others, we made a point to visit this restaurant when we were in Tokyo. Oh boy, were we disappointed! Big time. Broth was too way too salty. There were two staff, one to cook, the other was to serve. The service staff was too rude. He has no patience. Be sure to select your noodles at the venting machine very quickly bcos he’ll tell you to hurry up. And you have to eat quickly bcos he will urge you to eat faster as there are other customers waiting for your seat. This place is not children friendly. We have visited many places in japan and this place totally changed my mind about the generally very courteous Japanese. Skip this place if you are not ready to be treated rudely.

Listed on michelin guide for multiple years. The taste is very delicate and yet complex. Must order the egg, it is very delicious. Better go there early and queue as it only has 11 seats. Open Monday to Friday only.
