Spago Kihei Reviews from The Last Year
The view is beautiful, the service was magnificent.
The food was gorgeous. The taste and texture of the fish I ordered was just ok. For the price, I would recommend so many other places. However, the view, the location, it's the top.
I've been to other spago in other locations.
Spago never ceases to amaze me. The food is fresh and good. The service ia good and my server was nice and attentive. He gave me some recommendations and knowledgeable . I'll start with the cold small appetizer from Kona Lobster ceviche and kampachi tostadas ( oh my... good and good) then for my big grand finale is crusted crab with kampachi ( amazing combination), i love the duo combination and last to end my wonderful dinner i had the special strawberry meringue dessert ( i finished the whole thing, so .. u must be wondering if it good or not if i finished the whole thing).
Relaxed Elegance
Located within the Four Seasons resort, and being a Wolfgang Puck restaurant, we went in with high expectations and they were delightfully met. Elevated and overlooking the ocean, we were seated under a covered porch, which allowed us to enjoy the open air, while protected from the elements. The restaurant uses a waiter - waiter assistant approach, which generated a bespoke attention to detail. Our waiter, Jeffie, is a true professional, and had an amazing understanding of the menu. We followed his recommendation for all three courses, which were sublime. There is an open area where sushi is prepared. We had the toro, which was amazingly seasoned, which complemented without overpowering the tuna. It also went splendidly with our champagne. Main courses were the house-made tagliatelle with mushrooms, and a crab crusted Hawaiian Hepu’upu’u. In a word - amazing. We finished with the chocolate soufflé. This is fine dinning so the cost reflects that. But if you want a great dinning experience with Maui charm this is the place.

If you're staying in Wailea and can't make the trek to Mama's in Paia. This is very comparable in terms of food. My parents and I dined here for dinner and everything from the service to the food exceptional.
WONDERFUL FOOD, VIEW, WINE LIST AND SERVICE
We ate at Spago twice during our recent stay at the Four Seasons Maui. we were greeted warmly by Sara Rose who is the front of the house manager. She is both warm and accommodating. Our server was Nicole and she knew everything about the menu and the wine list. Hopefully she never returns to Oregon. The food was as good as you would get in New York City. The bottle of Capensis was a great wine and fairly priced. The food was creative and masterfully prepared. It is expensive but it is also a truly memorable evening.
Expensive but good
Our first time dining here after visiting the other 4S restaurants and similar to those they are delicious and expensive. The regular menu entrees trend reasonable and the specials sounded amazing but then were over $100 per. Yes we can afford those but choose not to be nuts. Still was our second highest dinner tab this trip.
Thought it would be a nice place to have a lovely dinner
Thought it would be a nice place to have a lovely dinner and evening... We were quickly seated and the service was great. The staff were very nice and the view was great. The outdoor dining area is definitely very windy in some areas (just fyi). Ordered Thai style coconut curry, gnocchi, pork chop, pomme frittes, chocolate soufflé, and our usual drinks. Everything was lovely until about an hour after dinner... FOOD POISONING besides that.. it was good
I am never really one to leave a bad review.
I initially had a good experience walking in until the I was ordering and food came. I went to go have dinner for my four year anniversary and it almost felt like the server was selling me the most expensive things on the menu. I was told to get the sashimi platter that was $180, the bolognese gnocchi which was the only thing i enjoyed, the truffle pasta which was $95 and a steak. The truffle pasta was disappointing and when I told the server it was not good, he went off on how it was gluten free and was cooked in butter and all sorts of stuff. It didn't sit well with us and just felt like we were there just to be sold the most expensive things on the menu. I just wanted to leave an honest review for those that are considering going.

We 2 couples dined at Spago last night, as we have numerous times thru past few years. Every element of our evening was excellent!! service couldn't have been more warm, friendly and helpful. The food was very delicious, and taking in the gorgeous views was an extra bonus!! We'll be back!
Not impressed
This is the four seasons and I expect more. The food was excellent, but the service was marginal. Ordering was just a strange sequence and then when one in our party wanted a different side dish they said ok. When they brought plates they hadn’t done the other side. They corrected that but when bill came they charged us for an extra side. We ordered dessert and coffee. The coffee came and was cold. I am one who can take warm coffee but this was cold. Dessert came and we ate without coffee. That came at the end. Not impressed
Had the New Year's eve 7 course meal.
Overall service was fantastic; a dropped napkin or you leave the table- your napkin is replaced. Your water cup is low and a server quickly comes by to refill it. I think food overall was alright; there were only a 1-2 dishes that I thought were very well done, the others were unremarkable. Specifically the first starting dish was very nice-- very well balanced and delicate. Sushi was also quite nice and so were the desserts. I was quite disappointed by the truffle dish; it came off a bit bland to me, and more so I was surprised white truffles weren't used instead since they're in season only in these few months and in my opinion are more flavorful in pasta. Other than that, I wish the last few dishes were smaller. The first few dishes were perhaps the best, and they were so small, and the later dishes were slightly overwhelming and too much. I was quite full by the time the ribeye came out. I also would have been happy if the final dessert was just one item, instead of three, although it did make for delicious leftovers!! The desserts were quite lovely and unique, playing with textures and flavors. In terms of ambiance, it was a bit too loud and rowdy than I expected, but the views for new years was unparalleled. Having a front row seat to the fireworks was incredible. And the server also was incredibly attentive to make sure all our champagne glasses were always filled, right up until the last few seconds before the new year. Overall this was a unique experience that will be unforgettable, although I might not necessary decide to come here without an occasion like new year's eve.

Ok....team David (who we asked for specifically) turned our previous tense experience at Spago into magic. He and his team brought us their absolute best and it was so appreciated. David was completely detailed in his preparation of any special requests. Whatever had fallen short on our previous visit was quickly forgotten. The incredible food and spectacular setting is always a given and we honestly had a PERFECT evening. Thank you and see you next year!
Food is good, but it is very overpriced.
Menu is very similar to the LA Spago--tuna tartare flutes etc... with some sushi. At some point you have to ask yourself if 3 slices of salmon are worth $40 even with the ambience etc... If you aren't staying at the Four Seasons, likely going to one of the less good tables. There are much much better options for food, location, and service on Maui and certainly at a better price. Easily the most expensive place I'm aware of on the island.
Spago has a lovely ambiance with gorgeous sunset views.
The staff is accommodating and the service is impeccable. Extensive wine list and fabulous food.
Exceptional experience and food
Views were gorgeous. The service top notch. Their food was amazing. We even loved their bread and butter. This is one of our fav restaurants on the Island and have made reservations to come back.
Amazing Cuisine,Stellar Staff
We were a party of 4 celebrating a 60th birthday. I reached out to the Manager Kassey Wolf to plan the evening. She assured me it would be a wonderful evening and herself and staff would go out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. She was not kidding! The lovely Sara made sure we were happy and stopped by several times to insure we were satisfied and to wish a Happy Birthday to the guest of honor. Our server Daniel was wonderful and the chefs attention to detail was amazing! The quality and flavor of the dishes were spot on and the presentation looked like a work of art! The staff made sure we had a beautiful table to enjoy the evening. Could not have been more happy!
Save your Money
Mediocre at best. The worst steak ever above $15. And it cost $85. Overcooked and grainy. Is food so bad these days that some people think this is a good restaurant?
Fantastic Culinary Experience!
This was a truly memorable dining experience. Every dish from appetizers to dessert was a creative combination of elements and beautifully presented. Our experience began with a special cocktail prepared at our table (Mo Money Mo Problems) which was followed by ahi poke in sesame-miso cones, and wagyu beef with caviar and gold flakes. The entrees we enjoyed included Thai style coconut red curry, duck, wagyu beef. The service was excellent. Our waiter could not have been more pleasant, professional or helpful. In addition to attentive service, he saved us from what would have been a miserable, dining experience. Here's what happened. The hostess sat our party of 4 next to a table of 9 very loud tourists who appeared to have been overserved. They were so boisterous we could not hear our waiter, and he could not hear us. Fortunately, our waiter acknowledged how bad the environment was for us and he moved us to another table. Thanks to him, we had an amazing dinner. The only reason this is a 4-star review is because there were many open tables that were not next to the ill-mannered party. The hostess could easily have sat us at another table had she been paying attention and/or had more experience and neither we nor our waiter would have had to resolve the problem. The purpose for mentioning this is to acknowledge our wonderful waiter and hopefully help others avoid a similar situation in the future. If you're in Wailea, a visit to Spago should be part of your plans.
Wolfgang you've done it!
We were staying at the four seasons in Maui and knew Spago was the marquee restaurant there. We had to go. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which we hope we will be lucky enough to repeat. The location, venue was breathtaking at sunset. The menu was extensive decadent and incredible. Our server Jeff knew every detail of the menu and is an absolute expert on the intricacies that go into every dish. The meal and experience was one I will never forget. I had the half rack of lamb and the tastes, smells were better than anything I have had before. Everyone that works there seems very dialed in to making Spago an experience of a lifetime.
Worth it !
Top Level Dining. Superb Food, Service and Location. Prices fair for the outlet. Paid $ 500 for 4 Guests, worth it.
