Went for Valentine's Day and had to do the set VDay menu at S$160 per person. It was an incredible let-down to say the least. We had about 7 courses and while all of them looked beautiful, none were memorable and only one was actually something that I would want to have again.Service was great, if not too over the top. Waiters would come in with a tray of dishes and stand near your table, because a second waiter was needed to put the plates on tables. But everyone was polite, warm, and welcoming--you paid for it, after all.The meal was mediocre. The only thing that was memorable was also one of the simpler courses---steak in a simple broth with a small salad (...three bites) and a small meat-filled puff pastry on top of what I assume was some sort of fruit (plums?).Stellar is not so stellar at fine, envelope-pushing-dining but unfortunately that's exactly what it's trying to do. All the meals were too over the top and ambitious on idea, plating, and design, but in terms of execution...not the best. The courses didn't make sense--they didn't flow together or have any sort of link. It seemed like the kitchen was just doing what's trendy or popular in the food world at the moment...at the same time. My dinner date and I were left pretty speechless---often times the food on one plate didn't go together...it just didn't make sense. Or we would be presented with a really magnificent looking something, but one bite would prove that it was nothing but show.I was really excited about coming here and the views really are spectacular. But I would never come here again or recommend it to anyone. I paid more than S$400 for the dinner (not including alcohol) and it tasted like it was no more than S$6.Also, they charge you almost $10 for a bottle of Fiji water and they put it in this fancy little metal tin that's just high enough as to not obscure the Fiji label. God bless Asia and their love of name brands.
