STRAKER'S London Reviews from The Last Year
The flavours are there
Not sure if it’s worth booking weeks in advance, and what others expect when they do. But the amount of negativity is very unfair. I found Straker’s to be totally adequate. Food is outstanding! Of course, flatbread is a must and sirloin was cooked to perfection. But what really won me over were the starters and pasta. Simple looking, but far from ordinary. The place is buzzy, a bit squeezed for space and time spent, but nonetheless cool.
this place is awesome
Second time we have been to this place, everything was outstanding. Host was gracious and welcoming. Server was friendly and organized. Cocktails [we had many] were excellent, blood orange one and mezcal negroni. we ordered a lot of food and no dish disappointed. highlights were yellowfin galette, beetroots, duck liver parfait, sea bream , hispi and pasta dishwith fish. donuts were immaculate. blood orange sorbet very pleasing. coffee also well served. we weren't rushed, had nice big table. whist not cheap it was certainly worth it. hard to fathom some bad reviews of this place as it is truly exceptional. thanks for great lunch, we need to come more often.
Not deserving of the hype!
This place was an utter letdown. Despite the buzz, our last-minute reservation turned into a disaster. Service was a joke—rushed, disorganized, and downright rude. The food? Some dishes were passable, like the flatbread with mussels, but others, like the sad excuse for courgette fritti and a lone, freezer-burnt scallop, were downright insulting. Don't even get me started on the wine service—no pomp or circumstance, just glasses plonked on the table like an afterthought. Portions were laughable for the exorbitant prices; the gnocchi felt like a joke, and the lemon sole was swimming in misplaced butter. The self-appointed sommelier was more interested in his own ego than serving customers, and the overall vibe was chaotic and unprofessional. Save yourself the disappointment and steer clear!
Absolute Gem
What a little gem this place was & so worth the wait to get a table. My family have been avid followers of Thomas since lock down…he was one of our go-too’s on instagram during those moments when we needed something exciting to look at. It didn’t disappoint, from the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed with friendly smiles & a happy vibe. Service was quick & efficient…the food, oh my goodness, the mussel flatbreads are to die for, in fact it was all absolutely delicious. My only complaint was that we didn’t order enough of the potato galettes…but that’s our fault not theirs! All I can say is, don’t listen to the negative reviews, this little beauty does everything that it says on the packet, small, intimate, cosy (might be different on a hot summers day, but I’d risk it) The food is insanely good, the staff amazing (especially our chap-we were all arguing who he looked the most like…a mix between Jamie Cullum, Aneurin Bernard or Rufus Sewell? was charming). Maybe the girl with the pink hair could smile a bit more, but hey, we are all entitled to a bad day. Highly, highly recommend…& it only took us just over an hour to get home to Wiltshire…yup, we’d travelled that far for one meal…but boy was it worth it!! Thank you Strakers xxx
Best restaurant in London
This was my second visit. The first time I went with a friend who lived locally and said we had to go. It was completely incredible and I raved to my husband about it for months. We had to go to London last minute and I suggested we stop by on the off chance they could fit us in (I had looked online and it was fully booked). We were seated straight away at the kitchen bar which was perfect. We had the most exceptional lunch. It was absolutely delicious. The waiter was super friendly and knowledgable. He suggested we order more than we actually did but we had plenty. The flatbreads are other worldly and the squid was insanely good. I honestly cannot wait to go back again. Hands down, favourite restaurant, just wish we lived closer so we could go every week!
Wonderful family meal
Great food, service and atmosphere. We were a family of four and decided to share plates throughout the menu. Everything we chose was excellent; the plaice and crab on toast outstanding.
A great culinary experience
Amazing culinary experience. Great food, great service and ambiance. Try their flat bread, it’s so delicious and scrumptious!
Amazing experience
We had our dinner right next to the chefs station. The food was incredible, literally every single dish was prepared perfectly and the intensity of the flavors were outstanding. For the experience you get the price is also completely reasonable. The next time I‘m staying in london, STRAKERS is definitely on the list! Cheers!
go to the other restaurants mentioned instead
the food at strakers is tasty but you can get the same or better - for the same price or less - at other restaurants in the city with the same vibe (brawn, primeur, sessions arts club, brat, andrew edmunds, noble rot). go to those restaurants instead. the dover sole was £60-something and TINY. i left this restaurant hungry. the waiters are friendly but i've never been rushed out of a restaurant so much. we had sat down for 10 minutes and they were already telling us they needed the table back at a certain time.
Fantastic seasonal food
Fantastic spot with delicious, seasonal food. Our waiter was outstanding, and seated on the kitchen counter was an extra treat being able to see Thomas and the chefs do all their work.
Really disappointing, would not return
Poor service. Loud music. Absurdly overpriced, including £17 for an ordinary medium size glass of rose. Measly portions-had to have a snack when I got home
Overpriced tiny portions and slow service. Avoid.
I eat at a lot of quality restaurants in London. I rarely leave a review but am so angered by my experience I feel I must. Strakers has very slow service and tiny portions of massively overpriced food when you consider how little they put on the plate. It’s also very noisy. When the waiter asked for feedback and we told him he did nothing about it, just took our money (£86 per head for 2 courses, bread and one glass of wine and one soft drink. No coffee or dessert. Really - this is not Mayfair!). I saw him then go and smirk with the manager. They do not deserve our support.

Ask a Question |
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
