Be the first to ReplyBest sushi I've had in a long time.
Fish is fresh and perfectly seasoned. Staff is courteous, chef is friendly. Lunch omakase is a pretty good deal, but corkage is $50 if you decide on your own bottle.Location is small and not easy to get to- it's on the third floor of mall. Parking lot is expensive, dingy, and smells like urine. For this reason alone, I wouldn't recommend it for big groups or a very romantic date.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for the lunch omakase.
Was delicious. Every single piece tasted distinct and unique. Impeccably crafted. Would definitely come again.

We had reservation at 6pm for the Signature Omakase, and it is consists of 12 pieces Nigiri and 6-8 small dishes! It's $280 for Signature Omakase plus tax/tips/drinks.Served at sushi bar and chef Hide Takeda himself made most of the nigiri for us. It was very interesting and fun to watch him. Chef Takeda will also brought out the fish and tell us which part we are going to eat next then explain and show us what kind of fish it is as well. They do have some pieces are very unique. I love the presentation, very simple and clean. Location: it's inside a Japanese plaza and it has lower parking lot. Overall, I was pretty impressed with this Omakase. Texture and flavor were perfect.

A small sit down establishment with around 16 seats (8 bar and 8 table). Chef Takeda's love for the artistry of food could be felt with every dish. Each course was a journey in and of its own with a multitude of flavors with each bite. Every component was well thought out and executed. Some of the dishes even carried little amusing surprises and were full of delight. Chef was attentive and kind. He explained each course and answered all questions. He truly cared about our experience and how we felt about each dish. I didn't expect the experience to be so lighthearted, fun and educational.

We had the signature omakase and loved every bite! I especially like that the hot dishes were alternated among nigiri. For LA, the price tag is justified with some interesting prep and fish like dry aged tuna and cured shrimp. I appreciate the fish slices were standard, and may even be called generous, again, for LA where high end sushi often serve pinky size nigiris. It is a hole in the wall kind of place and could be better even if kept low key. The service was attentive, but way over board for me...we felt extremely rushed and that they were trying to get us out. I would come back for the food.

Amazing little omakase place that's perfect for a nice date night, anniversary, or to take someone who just really enjoys fine Japanese flavors. The restaurant is small and tucked away on the 3rd floor (with elevator access across the way), but has a cosy vibe and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Under new owners they only do omakase now, so it's a bit pricier than getting sushi "a la carte" elsewhere but the experience, quality, and unique offerings are worth the price. Advance, pre-paid reservations are recommended to ensure a time.

We had a reservation for 2 at the earlier seating of the signature omakase. The omakase is ~$350 per person, so it's certainly pricey, but I say it's worth every penny for the stellar experience!First of all, the head chef and servers speak Japanese, so I appreciated the authenticity of the atmosphere - everything from the greetings to the chefs talking to each other. Chef Takeda himself made most of the nigiri for us, so it was fun to watch him slice up the fish and make the nigiri. We had some interesting pieces I haven't seen on other omakase menus, and I've been to plenty across the country! The chef first brought out a big chunk of tuna and explained that he had dry aged the bluefin tuna. We started with some kitchen courses - one that stood out was the renkon maju topped with nodoguro with shrimp broth. Then came the nigiri. Loved the kasugodai and rice straw-smoked sawara! I've had hickory-smoked sawara, but this one had a different smokiness to it! Also had kawahagi topped with its own liver. When we had the steamed abalone with its liver sauce, they followed it up with a ball of sushi rice to make risotto with the leftover liver sauce. Loved the soft texture of the buri toro with a hunt of yuzu zest. I was very impressed with the presentation of the yari ika, topped with salty, fermented snapper stomach (interesting, right?) - super pretty spikes all around the fish! He didn't show how they made the fish look like that, but it was beautiful, a piece of art. The signature iwashi maki was beautiful as well! Dainty pink in color, delicate texture and flavors mixed with the strong sardine taste. The preparation of the hokkagai was pretty funny. We noticed him smacking the piece of clam before making it into nigiri. We asked him what he was doing, and he replied "Bad clam!" as he smacked his next piece. Funny guy. He later explained that it softens the texture of the clam. Very nice.We also had the pleasure of having sujiko - immature salmon roe, enveloped by a thin layer of ovarian membrane. I've only had ikura before, so this was a different experience! Loved every popping bite. The final "tamago" piece was also very different from what I've had at other omakase places - it was egg custard with grated Japanese yam, scallop, and snapper, almost cake-like in texture but has that perfect amount of Japanese sweetness. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here! Would definitely recommend snagging a reservation at the 10-seat counter in front of Chef Takeda for the signature omakase course.

Went here back in May of 2022, late review but still remember how delicious the sushi was. Fucken love every single sushi they served and especially the Yuzu soda was god tier amazing. Def would come here again and def bringing a date.
Be the first to ReplyHands down one of the best omakase I've had in my life.
The experience here is superior!!! The chefs here are very skilled and courteous, showed me allll the things that go into the course!!! Very fun experience:)The parking lot for this Japanese plaza is either street or public parking lot.The food was amazing here, I would say 10/10 I'll come back again for sure!! The taste is genuinely authentic and each pieces are so previously curated (see pics!!!!) I'm still drooling over the sushi... Overall, the ambiance is perfect for a omakase lunch or dinner date, formal wear to the restaurant would also be a nice touch :)

Authentic Japanese sushi Omakase However, the food size is quite limited and cannot feed my hunger stomach....Maybe I will try the signature Omakase rather than just nigiri set for more food to eat.

DO NOT COME HERE! Super disappointed by the food and the service!! Fish is not fresh here, the rice also doesn't taste good. Absolutely nothing stood out here, they have two menu $280 & $140 omakase. This is a waste of your money and you will be let down with their fish selection and quality of the fish. We ordered 4 pieces of uni and they charged $100 for that!!! We have dined at SUGARFISH, Sushi Zo, Matsuhisa, Nozawa, there is no comparison! At the end of our dinner we added uni sushi, when I got the bill it was $25 per one piece of sushi and it wasn't even fresh!! That is crazy, ridiculous for one piece of sushi! Do not waste your money coming here. Ootoro or SUGARFISH down the street has better fish than here!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic.
I asked my LA sushi hound where to take a good friend from out of town for a great meal near downtown, and he suggested Takeda. I'd never been and really hadn't heard much about it, but after a quick glance at the website, and couple of clicks to make a reservation, we were in. We both did the lunch omakase and at various moments throughout the meal, we could be heard shouting expletives of joy to each other and to ourselves. The journey was exceptional; lots of different fish, flavors, and textures, but everything working together like a great album. There was a specific piece of mackerel that had us both laughing at how good it was. Everything was super fresh, beautifully cut, and just delicious. The fact that the lunch omakase was only $110, which I think included tip, makes this place somewhere I plan to come back to again. And again. And again.

Be the first to ReplyThis 22-course meal was amazing.
Each dish was present beautifully. The taste was immaculate. Without blurring the lines of each fish, each bite was flavorful and delicious. Started off with some stronger dishes and ended with something light. Definitely recommend making reservations to come here.

I always love trying out different sushi places, and this one definitely didn't disappoint! Hide-san delivered a great experience and I especially liked their toro with pickled daikon. The uni dish was flavorful, the Spanish mackerel was tasty, and overall it was a great experience!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing omakase experience.
Every course was eye shutting heaven. We asked for their best dry sake and it was a great match besides being divine. The apprentice chef was an apprentice only in title who assured us he was better than master Hide lol. Answered all our questions and was informative. What a wonderful experience.
Be the first to ReplyI'm so in love with this sushi bar.
The chef is friendly, way too modest for how talented he is. Casual ambiance so you can comfortably chat, enjoyably eat, or just bask in peaceful silence if that's what you prefer. The app is a beautifully seared Flounder over veggies with a touch of miso. The omakase is a fantastic selection of fish, a logical progression from light and lean to lean and mean to fat and decadence. Halibut with a splash of yuzu starts the series, then a meaty Japanese Mackerel. Bluefin Tuna is meatier, followed by a a pretty pink piece of Goldeneye Snapper. This one was wrapped in kombu which adds an aroma, an amplification of the fragrance that was already in the fish - it's brilliant. Seared Scallop - love the singe, followed by a meltaway Toro.A slice of Sardine Roll stuffed with ginger and green onion provides a palate cleanser. It starts again with Striped Jack, then Sweet Shrimp, then Sawara. Japanese Barracuda is still warm from being freshly seared, and they tell you to eat it quickly so the nori still has crunch. This fish finishes like pure silk - I don't think I've had anything with this unique sweet-flaky-buttery flavor profile before. A bowl of Uni and Ikura, and it's almost over. The ikura is smooth, with none of the fishiness or abrasive brininess, and the uni is always awesome.A mini Futomaki to finish, filled with kanpyo and tamago, and they give us a fizzy shot of Yuzu Soda for the road. It's just the lunch nigiri and it's perfect. If this is lunch, I can only imagine what dinner would be.
Be the first to ReplyLos Angeles is THE battlefield of all sushi restaurants.
Sushi Takeda impressed me with their omakase lunch set. The quality of their fresh catch, the skills of the chefs and the "just about right" table services really provide a relaxing and enjoyable dining atmosphere without the uptight awkwardness of upscale Japanese sushi restaurants. I am willing to drive 5 hours to LA just to dine again with them. It's a hidden gem in the city. Looking forward to another wonderful omakase lunch or dinner.

This place is great! Really relaxing and chill atmosphere, the sushi was super fresh and delicious. The head chef was also super nice and friendly. Would defininitely come back to try the premium omakase.
Be the first to ReplyI am half Korean and half Japanese.
Today, I had a lunch here with my mother, who is full Korean. During entire hour of having omakase, we were talking in Korean enjoying our meal. At the end, when it was time for us to pay, the owner called a Korean chef to come out to ask us in Korean whether it is truly me who made a reservation because the reservation was under my name (Japanese) and we were speaking in Korean - his tone was very confrontational as if we were "dine and ditching." The chef said the restaurant had dealt with a situation.. a person dined for free using a different person's name(?) so they had to be cautious. When I told the chef the reason why my name is Japanese is because my father is Japanese, and that I was speaking Korean because my mother is Korean, the chef and his staff apologized. I had never experienced racism like this in LA. Thank you for ruining our mother-daughter time!
