Don't let anyone tell you all the good restaurants in New York City are in Manhattan. This former Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant gives you a reason to dine in the Bronx! My friends and I visited on a Thursday evening around 7:30pm and were immediately seated. We were initially escorted to a seat on the casual first floor level; however, we wisely asked to be relocated to the second floor, which had more of a vibe and a live music band. Our waiter was personable and offered us great food and drink recommendations. One of my friends ordered the Bubbles and Dreams cocktail (vodka, hibiscus nectar, lemon, cava), while my other friend opted for a tequila drink that was served in a ceramic jar and topped off with a flame. I ordered a drink with mezcal and pineapple. The drinks were flavorful, but not strong.Next up were appetizers! We shared the tostados de pulpo, Thai chicken empanadas, purple corn calamari, and guacamole. Everything was delicious and my personal fave was the Thai chicken empanadas! The appetizers whetted our appetite for the main course. My friends ordered the sweet plantain mofongo with shrimp and roasted salmon dishes respectively, while I opted for the Thai trifongo (lemongrass chicken, orange yuzu, yellow and green plantains, yuca, watermelon radish, fried onion, and furikake). We loved the mofongo and Thai trifongo dishes; however, the salmon was a little overcooked and was upstaged by the accompanying spicy rice and mango salsa.Overall, I had a great experience at this restaurant and would dine here again. Know before you go: -Go for: The food and live music-Prepare to: Speak in raised tones if you want to have a conversation at your table over the music-Skip:The bathroom.
