Great ambiance, food is delicious, and a cute vibe out.
Make sure to make plans because the wait can be long.

Absolutely will be going back. But always book a reservation in advance from Friday to Sunday.

I find it rather ironic that Buddha, who epitomized the virtue of moderation, is the mascot for a restaurant that revels in excess. Tao, while striving for a hip and modern vibe, falls into the trap of being nothing more than a pricey backdrop for the superficial scene of West Hollywood. The ambiance is drowned by the noise of thirty-somethings bemoaning their dismal dating prospects and desperate attempts to gain traction on social media. It's the epitome of style over substance--expensive, yet utterly forgettable. If you're seeking an authentic or enjoyable dining experience, look elsewhere. Tao is merely a playground for clout chasers, far from the peaceful moderation Buddha taught. even the service was lack luster I am assuming because of the way things are setup though.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is always delicious.
The ambiance is superb as always. The service is always great! I will always come here for good food and great drinks.
Be the first to ReplyWe had dinner on a Saturday night.
It was busy and the noise level was high. We were seated after a short wait in the stylish lounge. The multi-level dining room is beautiful, with dramatic lighting and a large statue at the far end of the room. The service was courteous and prompt throughout the evening. We had lychee martinis and they were delicious. All of the food we ordered was excellent. Prices are high but execution and presentation are outstanding and this is evidently a special occasion dining spot for many. I definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance is unbeatable.
Absolutely stunning interiors, it's like being transported to a different world. The food and drinks were decent, pricing is pretty on par with other LA restaurants. The dim sum, lobster sushi roll, chinese broccoli, shishito peppers, bok choy, pad thai were delicious! I would avoid the sushi here (except for the rolls which are yummy), it's meh compared to other sushi restaurants in LA. This is a great restaurant for a formal social outing with friends and I enjoyed my dinner here. Service was ok, had to flag down several staff members to ask for things instead of my waitress but they did help out when asked. Would come back.

Be the first to ReplyMy friends and I went to TAO LA after a Vegas weekend
My friends and I went to TAO LA after a Vegas weekend getaway. My girl friend from Australia had her visions set on an LV restaurant that was a major let down so I wanted to make it up to her by taking her to TAO. I used to work TAO LV beach club so I was confident TAO LA would be amazing, even though I've never been. Based off the menu, the food was 100x more awesome, they care about their image in what they present, and it was all very noticeable. The let-down location in LV did not seem to care about their established image and it was honestly such a bummer, but if it wasn't for that bummer experience we would not have experienced the TAO LA experience! I will have to say it took them an hour and 10 minutes after our reservation to seat us. We had to check with the desk a handful of times because we eat late but came with empty tummies because we were excited with the food and didn't expect to get seated over an HOUR after our reservation. They must've heard the guys complain because when we were seated, we got one of the most stunning seats in the house. For parking, we went to valet. You get a confirmation at dinner and you'll pay a smaller amount. The scenery and ambiance inside was unreal. I love the dark sexy setting, and felt like I did not dress up as much as I'd like for this event! Yes, being at TAO was truly an EVENT! While we were waiting, TAO had a bar waiting area inside which was nice! Ok, once we were seated, our server was extremely knowledgeable. I loved that TAO had vegetarian options for me too and all the drinks did not take too long. We had a bunch of family style plates and it was all so delicious! My girl friend was loving her experience and so were my other friends so that honestly made the night!! Everything from service, drinks, food, ambiance, and setting was above and beyond yet so consistent to the TAO hospitality brand. I am definitely excited to add TAO to the list of places to go when I have more out of town visitors. Thank you for such a lovely experience!

Our reservation was at 10 and we didn't get seated until 10:40. The food was good and so was ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyWorst service period.
Food cold. Manager is very rude. Horrible person. Learn some good customer service please this is unacceptable. Mcdonalds has better service.

Reservations for 8 @7:30pm were easy to make through their website. TAO offers Valet Parking for $15.00 for 2 1/2 hrs. TAO does not split checks. So to make it easier we all brought cash to close out the bill. Once we arrived we checked in at sat comfortably in the lounge waiting for the rest of our party as we could not be seated until everyone in the party is present. TAO is beautifully decorated inside. I personally ordered the Lobster Kimchee fried rice which was delicious. Pretty much everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered with the exception of some Crispy Fish which was recommended by our waiter. Once we told our waiter we didn't like the Crispy Fish he gladly removed it from our bill and we ordered the Orange Chicken instead. Our waiter was very attentive and checked on us often to see if we needed anything. Our waiter also had the birthday cake we brought sliced up and served. I can't remember our waiters name, but he is African American with black rimmed glasses. The music playing throughout TAO was upbeat and had us dancing in our chairs. The female bathroom is clean as thiers a bathroom attendant to make sure you have soap and paper towels for your hands. The drive out to TAO is not easy on a Saturday night due to all the traffic. Therefore most likely it will not be a place I would frequent. It is a place perfect for special occasions...

Will recommend to friends visiting from out of town. Costly, but worth every bite. Fell in love with chai crème brûlée :)
Be the first to ReplyMy friends and I have been to this restaurant previously in
My friends and I have been to this restaurant previously in the past and have had only good experiences. Until recently we had one of the worst experiences. My friend reserved a vip table which is a minimum of 1000 dollars for her birthday. Right away when we came to the door the bouncer was extremely rude as we thanked them for holding the door for us to which they responded with "If one more of you guys says thank you I'm kicking you out". We thought this was super weird but ignored it because we wanted to have a good night. Then we went to the host stand and asked for the table we reserved for our time and to which they replied that it should only be a few more minutes until they can seat us. 20 minutes go by and we still weren't seated. My friend goes to the host stand again asking for how much longer as our reservation was 20 minutes ago and the host replied with a few more minutes. We proceed to wait another 20 minutes to which my friend got annoyed at now we have waited a total of 40 minutes for a table we reserved. We finally got seated with no apology for the wait. As we sit down we wait another 15 minutes and zero sign of any server coming to our table to greet us. We had to go to the manager and ask for a server to please come to our table as we have been waiting almost an hour about now. When our waiter finally came to our table he was very cold and rude and took all of our orders. The food took forever to come and the waiter didn't check or ask how our food was once. He would set down the food super rudely and quickly and not explain which any of the food was to us. We asked for the manager and pleaded for help as we felt we were being treated poorly as my friends were spending a lot of money at this restaurant and we were being nothing but nice. The server did not once check up on us or ask how we were doing or if we wanted anything else to eat. We finally asked if we could get the cake for happy birthday and it I kid you not almost 30 minute go by and no cake. We ask for the manager once again to express our concerns and he did nothing. At this point we were so frustrated and disappointed we said we didn't even want the cake anymore and that we just wanted the check please. Another 30 minutes go by and zero sign of check. We tried to flag down the sever how had been ignoring us the entire night. The bus boys came to our table to help wrap up our night and expressed to us that they noticed how we have been getting treated and feel so sorry for us. With still no sign of check, we went to the manager again and asked for check once again. My friend who's birthday it was explained how she was severely disappointed with the treatment she received that night and asked if the tip not go to the sever who did nothing for us but the kind bus boys who acknowledged the treatment we were receiving. The manager said that wasn't allowed and that he couldn't do anything about. I have never felt the need to yelp review anything about any establishment Iv been to to but I wanted to share our experience on this because this was one of the worst experiences Iv ever had at a restaurant. And the way we were treated was disgusting. I hate to put down others or an establishment but this was beyond my patience. I wish I got the names of the people who treated us this poorly but we were so frustrated we just wanted to leave the restaurant at that point. Please be aware when coming here that if you a part of the younger crowd they will treat you differently and I'm not saying all true servers or managers are like this at this restaurant but the time that we had a bad experience nothing was done about it period. Sad to say that I will not be coming back here which is so unfortunate because it used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Ive told multiple mutuals in the LA scene who agreed that they will also not be coming back due to the treatment and will spread the word.

Went here at Tao for a family birthday dinner, and everything in this restaurant was absolutely magnificent. The indoor scenery is beautiful, especially the Quan Yin statue. We also adored the dark ambiance throughout the building. Service was really good and welcoming. Food was enjoyable as well! We really enjoyed the family birthday dinner here at Tao. I'd come back here, no doubts needed. Due to food, service, and ambiance here, I'd definitely consider the restaurant a 5 star and would recommend to "foodies".
Be the first to ReplyFood was ok.
2 starts for food. Appetizers were better than main courses. Service was the worst I have seen so far in Los Angeles. Our server was nowhere to be found! Ambiance was ok - but the air conditioning was so unpleasantly strong that my guests had to request to be reseated ... but it was still horrible. Overall ... my experience was below average.

The ambiance of this restaurant is the reason anyone would go to this restaurant. This was quite a beautiful interior with so much thought involved in the decorations. However, the food had to have been the most underwhelming experience. Everything was overpriced for how this tasted. We spent a lot of money on food just to be disappointed. Honestly, I would have rather went to some 3-star Chinese restaurant because at least we would have been pleased with the food. I wholeheartedly believe in going to restaurants for food so this felt like a waste of time. We ordered much of what was recommended by our server but ultimately, this restaurant is more of a photo spot than a place to eat. The filet mignon was overcooked, being that we asked for rate and the snapper in sand was just breaded bland fish. The service was very nice but ultimately, I was extremely disappointed with this meal.

Have my BDay dinner there with friends, love the decor and high ceilings. Service was awesome, waiter were friendly and humorous. Food was pretty good! Will definitely go again. Like to give a big shout out to Raina! She was able to help assist with the accommodations of our large group. Thank you, Raina! Only down side was that our table was so big that I had to yell to talk to my friends on the other end of the table. It felt less intimate than I'd like. Over had so much fun, highly recommend

This was my first time visiting Tao for a celebration of my and a friend's birthday. The vibe is phenomenal and I just felt transported to another place. When I go back, I want to sit on one of the stair landings. We were a large group and shared a lot of the dishes. I loved everything I ordered, some dishes more than others. The olive leaf fried rice was fresh and super flavorful. The cod was soft, flaky and full of delicious flavor. The edamame was fresh but nothing special really (same with the vegetable egg rolls). The Brussels sprouts were really good, better than I expected. The service was excellent and they were quick to help us with everything we needed. Everyone enjoyed their experience and we will definitely be back. Oh! The music was on point!
Be the first to ReplyFirst time at this spot .
Definitely had high expectations that were just not met . Entrance was nice love how elegant everything felt as soon as we entered but the host up front, not even a hello or anything and didn't feel very welcoming I was surprised at that but Wasn't sure if that was the "vibe" for this place . A different host walked us to our table . She was nice and explained to be careful on the steps going down. The place was breathtaking it definitely was beautiful inside. Once we sat down the waiter came 2 min after we sat and expected us to know our drink order . Didn't give us much time to even sit and look at the drink menu. He was friendly but just again, had higher expectations. During the course of the meal I had water but at a place this fancy I thought staff would be more attentive to not letting the water glass get empty. The drinks took a long time and first round was whatever. The tao tini was the second round and definitely way better and recommend it ! As we finished our first round it did take a while to get the second round. The waiter was deff busy but he never checked in to ask how the food was or if we liked it or if we wanted a second round. I did appreciate him , he brought a happy birthday ice cream bowl even after we had said we were full. It was nice but not sure if it was just because I mentioned it in the celebration notes when I booked the reservation. Not sure if Will Giuidara would even give this three stars but the overall experience was not unreasonable hospitality and everything in the industry we are striving for. Pay more attention to your two tops. Those large tops may have a lot of money but your two tops matter too. It's your first time guests that you want to win over . And honestly yall can do better especially how much plates cost here.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and the restaurant are getting 5 starts.
Every thing is tasty and fresh and well made. The one star I took off is for the guys in the front, very rood and not nice. But inside the restaurant everything is very good.

Come here for the ambiance and vibe of the place, not the food. The only reason people would want to go here and/or come back is the beautiful and unique setting. The place is absolutely beautiful: huge statue of Avalokiteshvara (I believe) as the main focal point, among other interesting statues. Unique multi-level sitting areas. Place is very dark; great if you're in a club, not so much for dining. Very dark room paired with stairs on multi-level seating is an accident waiting to happen. Plus people have better experience eating with all senses, meaning you'll enjoy food more if you can see better what you're eating.Drinks are great but overpriced. Now the food is really what brought down the rating. Overpriced for a below average taste. I'd have any neighborhood restaurant Pad Thai over their Drunken Lobster Pad Thai. The Hot and Sour Soup was meh but the Shrimp Toast that came with it was amazing. Chicken Satay is ok and the Orange Chicken is below par.I have never found any use for a restroom attendant; they're an antiquated relic for me. I can pump my own soap and grab my own paper towel. I prefer my privacy and without anyone trying to give me soap/towel when I'm not ready for them yet. It's enough to have a stylish restroom clean with maybe high end soap and nice paper towels if you want to distinguish yourself as a high-end restaurant. Besides, not a lot of people carry cash nowadays, much less singles, for tips.
Be the first to ReplyReally overpriced food.
Security was a little unreasonable, I just wanted to highlight, I understand people are just doing their job but ultimately working person to person, & paying for a such a high caliber place, you'd think they're'd be a better quality of service from the staff. There are various guest lists to get in for free online causing a huge overcrowding, so much so that I'm 100% sure the building was overcapacity. The food was mediocre, the drinks were mediocre & both were highly overpriced for the quality. To the security NEXT TO our security who couldn't mind their business & kept trying to talk over the associate assisting us; learn to do your job when you have a line of clients instead of interrupting, agitating, & harassing people who are already being helped. Yelling at people for no reason when you aren't even supposed to be helping them congests the entry & doesn't create for a good traffic flow, idiot. Your job is to check people's bags/belongings & let them in, not hassle them for no reason. Do better at training the associates at the store.

This spot is quite trendy, as it was very crowded, with elevated musics to boot. The food was amazing & the layout was pretty cool too. But, with at least three restaurants in the same block, parking is quite challenging.
