Wonderful!
As a "World Famous" author, I should have reviewed this restaurant sooner; but somehow, I missed it. I visited during the height of COVID-19 and it was a gloomy time in the world; however, the meal and experience was a highlight during those unprecedented times. A week or so ago, while celebrating a new book release with my business partner, we visited again during lunchtime. It was a Friday, and we had our traditional Friday fish and chips and everything about the meal was wonderful. Luke, the bartender mixes a great Manhattan. Service was outstanding, I love the interior, the bar area, and the prices and drink specials were right on. I will return when we are around town once again.
Be the first to ReplyMother's Day buffet was not worth the $45, Tarrants normally does much better
My wife and I along with our Moms and a friend of ours and her parents went to the Mother's Day brunch buffett today, May 8th. I was very excited for this experience. My wife and I have been to Tarrants West many times over the years and we have always had a great meal. I often tell people that it's one of the few restaurants in town that consistently cooks a great steak. Not sure what happened with the Mother's Day buffet but I would rank it a 2 out of 5. Hash brown casserole was just bland oven potatoes, not casserole as advertised on the menu, bacon was greasy, super fatty and not at all crunchy, all the meats including the ham, prime rib and chicken were too salty and dry, Irish lamb stew I actually enjoyed but again was way too salty. Overall, I wouldn't have paid more than $20/person for this buffett as it was basically on par with Golden Corral.

The food was okay. I wished they would have offered regular syrup for the chicken and waffles. I ordered the shrimp and grits, but it seemed more like dressing/stuffing instead of grits. They were definitely different than what was anticipated given what was on the menu.
Be the first to ReplyA Ladies' Lunch
I have dined at Tarrant's West several times; however, this is my first since the "pandemic". Our neighborhood ladies' lunch group selected this restaurant because they could accommodate a large group (13). We were seated in the "upper" room (2 steps up) away from any other diners. One server, Justin, took care of us---water glasses, orders, bringing our orders, etc. He didn't miss a beat. Tarrant's West has an extensive menu with which can satisfy different tastes. All orders were brought correctly. The instruction for the final tab was followed. It is nice to see Tarrant's West surviving and hopefully thriving. Well Done, Justin and the kitchen staff!

I booked this for rehearsal dinner this past Friday night. I could not have made a better choice. Large selection to choose from for our personal menu. Fillet was cooked perfectly! Our guest (45) were all pleased and full. Not being from the area, I was not familiar with Tarrant's West prior to booking, but I'm sure glad I selected them. The personal planners Brittany and Melissa were wonderful, the staff was exceptional. The food delicious and the drinks plentiful! What a great night! I highly recommend for any event!
Be the first to ReplySome good, some not so good
We came here after my SO had a session. We selected Tarrant's West to find a mostly empty, but large restaurant, probably a Corona Virus casualty. We were given seats at a glassed in "patio" with a very pleasant server. It went down hill from there . His appearance, after some hot slices Italian bread took some time to return. There we ordered a Reben (my SO) and a Sailor (for me)> Again they took some time to appear. I'm not sure we saw him again as a young lady took cafe of s from then on. My sandwich was good and the cole slaw a bit above average. The dill pickle slice was on a warmed plate. Al n all this was not quite what we expected, but e may try it again.

We went as a family of 5 Friday night for an 8:00pm reservation. The place was busy and was very unique inside. The menu is quite large so people should be able to find something that appeals. I was disappointed in the food quality. It was really just "ok". My husband and I had the blackened fish of the day on top of coconut risotto with asparagus. It was good- but not worth the $29.00. The appetizers were small in quantity for the price. It ended up totaling about $200 for a meal with one beer, no other drinks, and 2 appetizers and no desserts. Definitely not worth that amount. I would not go back and would try other restaurants in the area.

We have had some delicious meals at Tarrants, both downtown and at West . But as self-proclaimed meatball sub “connoisseurs” , we feel compelled to say that the ones we have gotten in our several most recent takeout orders are THE BEST we’ve had, after sampling in numerous cities! Absolutely perfect. My husband had a difficult time foregoing his beloved Sailor sandwich, a Richmond tradition, but he now has two favorites.

Be the first to ReplyGreat Service
We visited Tarrant's today for brunch. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our service was prompt. My wife had the breakfast pizza and I had the huevos rancheros. The breakfast pizza was hot and full of flavor. The huevos rancheros did not have a great presentation. There were two slivers of avocado ons top of the fried eggs. The avocado appeared to be left over from the previous day. The dish did have good flavor. In comparison to another restaurant I have visited this dish pales in comparison in flavor, presentation, and portion. On a great note, our waiter Nick, he was spot on with his service. Could not have asked for better service!
