Not a proper biryani at all since it just tastes like rice mixed with a curry. The service and staff were nice!

We were looking for a place to get some lunch and many establishments are still closed on a Tuesday after Xmas. We happened to stumble upon this place. It turned out to be one of the best meals we've had in Vienna. The service was friendly and English menus were available. Each of dishes was delicious with nice portions. I found it interesting that Indian food happened to be one of the best meals I had in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

On a cold day in Vienna, we decided to visit a Taste of India for some warm food after a long day of walking. While we entered for a late lunch/early dinner and they were able to seat us promptly they did check their reservation book which makes me think it gets crowded during normal dining hours. We decided to order two masalas (chicken and cauliflower) accompanied by a garlic naan and rice at a medium level. The spice level was perfect for our dishes and the chicken masala was wonderful with huge chunks of white chicken. For those a bit spice sensitive, I recommend going a bit milder as the medium spice level was accurate. The naan and rice helped us cool down our mouths as we quickly drank our water and couldn't find a waiter to help us get refills for some time. We skipped dessert but followed our waitress' recommendation and enjoyed a spoon of sweetened fennel. For my fellow Americans, this restaurant like many others in Vienna has a cover charge that encompasses service and the bread and sauces shared.

Every time I travel I look forward to trying Indian restaurants. This was a good find in VIENNA. It's authentic Indian food. Not all Indian restaurants are. Ask for Vicky, he will take good care of you.

We came unannounced with no reservations but the folks inside restaurant were super nice and we felt welcomed! Good food too!

I rarely had Indian food during my time in austria due to my ethnicity. My friend told me that this restaurant had just opened up in her neighborhood, and that she wants to take me there when I come to town. The restaurant is located about 5-10 min from the Landstrasse (city center) tube station. The restaurant is known for its north Indian (Punjab) recipes and spices. We ordered two Mango Lassis, and for the main course, me and a friend ordered the butter chicken, chicken tika masala ( medium spicy) and some garlic naan. I loved the food. The portions are pretty big, and rich in flavor. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. The prices are very reasonable considering the fact that the food is authentic, and the portions are reasonably big for one person.

I was walking down the street when the smell of this place pulled me in. Excellent Chana masala and super friendly staff, would definitely recommend.

Be the first to ReplyWe had lunch in this special Indian gem.
We ordered the fish tikka for appetizer and garlic naan. Main course was the lamb biryani and their house special butter chicken. All medium spicy. Everything was flavorful but not overpowering. It was a good balance of spice, flavor and heat. The butter chicken was the standout dish while the 2 other dishes was a good dish overall but not the best I had. I had better.

Was visiting Vienna for a week and this place was very close to our Airbnb. This is by far the best Indian restaurant outside of India. We came here twice during our stay and were never disappointed. We had Thalis, navratan kurma and butter chicken. The food is extremely tasty and flavorful. What I liked the best is that it did not have excess oil or cream like regular Indian restaurant. We also tried masala chai and it was outstanding. The gulab jamuns melted in our mouths. To top it off the service was outstanding. The restaurant owner and Manish do a fantastic job of taking care of their customers. I wish all Indian restaurants around the world were like this. Would highly recommend this place to everyone who visits Vienna!
