A complete Greek celebration!
What an experience! Great service, amazing food, and they gave us a complimentary drink at the end (maybe because we were at the bar?) Donโt forget the grilled squid!

Looking for lunch happened to be around the neighborhood, picked this placed based on the reviews. Food delicious definitely will go back, the service was rushed.
Be the first to ReplyBeyond our expectations! Pure delicious.
We had a relaxing lunch and we surprised at how good to food actual was! We knew it had a solid reputation, but it surpassed any and all expectations. The spreads, the Horiatiki salad, the chicken souvlaki, and especially the shrimp were off the charts delicious! Our server, Kosmas, was simply the best: attentive, professional, and friendly. We will return very soon!

Fish was very fresh. Octopus was very tender. Spread were average one was pink/purple and looked artificial. Not authentic Greek spreads. Disappointed with our waiter Manoli. He service etiquette needs work. Klea the hostess was Amazing!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Greek Seafood
Wow! Big menu, where even the sides -- like Lemon Potato and Broccoli Rabe with Feta -- are great. An appetizer -- like Mussels Santorini, or Octopus, or Anchovies -- + a side are a full, satisfying, meal. Our new favorite Greek.

Stumbled across this delightful restaurant when staying locally. After a long day of walking and sightseeing in Manhattan, a lady in the street recommended this place and Iโm so glad she did. I went for the lamb chops and lemon potatoes which I had been advised were a house speciality. A taste sensation. Service was great despite it being super busy on a Monday evening. I sat at the bar following a very short wait. The complimentary dessert was also delicious.

We went here for my husbandโs birthday and it was amazing! Everything was delicious! We had grilled octopus as appetizer which was soft. They give complimentary olive oil, olive bread. We ordered stiffed shrimp, fried red snapper and langostino. Everything was amazing. They give a complimentary dessert as well.
Be the first to ReplyA very nice dining experience
Just on the borderline of being chilly, but ate outside anyhow. Lots of outdoor seating. Food was delicious and fresh. Fried calamari appetizer was light, flavorful and not greasy. Yogurt and cucumber salad was refreshing. Lamp chops were grilled to perfection and grilled sardines were also very tasty. The wait staff was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant for exceptional Greek dishes.
Be the first to ReplyTasty Seafood, but could offer more authentic Greek dishes
This place is very festive and busy on a Friday evening. We sat outside on the sidewalk and were greeted promptly by the hostess. My wife and I shared the large peasant salad and it was very tasty and authentic. It rivals the ones we had in Greece this year. Vegetables were very fresh and the dressing was delicious. My daughter ordered the grilled squid - that was just average. She wanted the fried calamari, but itโs only an appetizer. My grilled sardines were very flavorful and tender. My wife liked the grilled baby shark (not really a shark). The service was acceptable, but limited due to how busy it was. The liter of white wine was a good deal at $27 and we could not finish it! On the whole, this place was good because it had plenty of seafood dishes, but it lost some points with the service, lack of other traditional Greek options such as moussaka, Greek beer, and other Greek dishes.
Be the first to ReplyPretty solid Greek food-but no Greek coffee!
Seafood usually really good and fresh. service is excellent, but no Greek coffee! Needed a cup to digest after such a huge meal.
Be the first to ReplyOne of Astoria's best Greek Tavernas
Yes, they must be in the top 5 Greek Tavernas in Astoria.
When I first rated them back in 2012 I gave them 4 stars. It took me three attempts to finally get a table for 1 there, albeit outside. The taverna is so popular that wait times can last up to 2 hours. In my case, 1st attempt 2 hours, 2nd attempt 2 hours, 3rd attempt 30 minutes.
Because I knew the food was so good I wanted to test their indoor dining protocols regarding covid. It was too crowded to get in and virtually every seat was taken. Inside, I noticed how small they were, and I now understand why they have to move to a new location. Non of the waiters wore masks. I was unable to verify vaccine checks -but -that was not why I came here.
My seat was jammed right on the pathway waiters walked to deliver food orders. A large party behind me was having well a big..fat..birthday party..so the precession of waiters and plates going back and forth, so I swung round to rear side of the table. Everyone was having a great time, but the tables may have been a little too close for comfort.
My dinner was a side order of tarama, freshly baked bread followed by a huge portion of a baby shark with lemon potatoes. I didnโt think it was possible to get so much meat on a baby shark. It was delicious and so filling I could not finish it all. After dinner, you get dessert on the house.
Wait staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I enjoyed watching three waiters dressed in white with bald heads running around trying to serve everyone, including me. They looked almost identical. One served me, but because of the other two, it got a little confusing who to get the check from at the end of my dinner.
.After my meal, I headed back to check out the interior and ambiance. Indoor dining is extremely cramped and the washrooms are almost in the kitchen, or should I say next door. Inside at the back reminds me of Bahari, but they have much better food. You also get a sense that they are great for fish dishes, and thatโs true I was not disappointed.
I paid $30.. approx
Still great except for the new dessert
This is a terrific place to eat . There isnโt anything we have not enjoyed , whether eating there or taking food home . Great food , big portions , quick efficient service . At the end of the meal comes the complementary dessert - they do not serve coffee or tea , but have traditionally offered galaktoboureko . The last two times on takeout , they substituted something else which was horrible . Not sure what it was - it couldnโt have been baklava because it was too dry and lacked any honey taste . Please stop doing that , or give the customer a choice . Granted , it is a nice touch to give a free dessert but when you are expecting the galaktoboureko and receive the new thing , anybody who tasted it would understand why I am complaining.
Be the first to ReplyGreek restaurant with friendly service
We went for lunch. Though it was busy we were able to get a table for four. We ordered some Greek beer and white wine with our appetizers. Due to COVID there was seating outside which was great on a summer day. The assortment of dips was good. The Greek salad was amazing. Also the warmed bread. For mains we had the Branzino and the lamb chops and the grilled calamari for mains. The portions are huge with the sides. The Greek potatoes and the beets were excellent too. The best part is the also the dessert you get at the end. The service was excellent and very friendly.
Be the first to ReplyDon't understand what all the fuss is about...
I'd read some impressive reviews of this place, but, now that I've eaten there, I don't agree with them. I know this might sound petty, but it was a HOT day, and the waiter (extremely surly) informed us they don't serve iced tea or iced coffee--in fact, they don't serve coffee of any kind. I've never been in such a restaurant like that before in the US.
I live on Long Island, where there are Greek restaurants just about everywhere, some good, some better. The food here was tasty, just not worth the 35-mile trip to get there. We would have been better off with one of our local places, like Opa Grille in Bethpage.
We ordered a Greek Salad (the "small" was tremendous), fried calamari (nice and crunchy, seemed fresh) and chicken kabobs (the sauce was excellent) served with tasteless beets. Nothing was terrible. It was just nothing special.
Great Greek dishes
Great service and tasty Mediterranean food. The seafood was tasty and well prepared and seasoned. I will come back!
Be the first to ReplyThe food tastes bland :/
Overall the service and waiting is good. But the food is really bland and has little flavor. Well thatโs fish for you. If you donโt like bland stuff I suggest you pass on this restaurant.
