Solid food! We enjoy going to the buffet on Saturday nights
Solid food! We enjoy going to the buffet on Saturday nights as a little family splurge. The kids love the ice cream machine and they have a lot of food options available. The dinner buffet is downstairs, separate from the upstairs dinning area, for the good of both the people enjoying a quiet dinner upstairs and the other people downstairs. They always have great service and are so nice! A lot of the ladies are the same from 10+ years ago

Well-prepared food. Good service. Nice lunch buffet. Ample parking.
Be the first to ReplyI came here for the brunch.
And I was beyond ecstatic. The quality was awesome. The decor was cool. And the staff was more than friendly. I think I would like to come back and enjoy the regular menu as well.

Great selection on menu and specials server was fast and friendly. Dining room was clean and comfortable and decorated nicely.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is based on the dinner buffet.
If you want processed food in mass quantities that is very salty and basically flavorless, then the $19.72 dinner buffet is for you. It had been years since I had been there and will not have it again. I know that with the amount of people that seemed to enjoy swarming the hot food bar, my review will do little to nothing for the restaurant to actually change and "make" some actual food, not just purchase frozen or boxed food to deep fry or heat it up, but I thought I'd leave it nonetheless for anyone who'd rather pass on paying for such fare.

If you're in the mood for a home cooked meal without cooking at home this is the place for you! They had a good amount of different things to try at the buffet. The waitresses were polite and very good with keeping up with the amount of people coming in. Even the restaurant section had really good fried shrimp. The place was clean and nice and kinda reminds me of the VFW how it's set up lol

I enjoyed my grilled chicken last Sunday, baked potato and green beans. My husband had the salad bar. Everything moved pretty fast considering the place was full. Our waitress was delightful and helpful.

You read some of the other reviews and see they are influenced by other matters than the restaurant itself. Reminds me of those who scream and shout outside a restaurant because of the person who they see eating there that has a different position on an issue. It shouldn't be a part of the review process here. Regarding the restaurant. I stopped in for lunch. It's not as big as some other similar style places I stop into making it more cozy with nice decorum. I had the salad bar and soup. The bean soup was very good of the five soup offerings that day. They offer both iceburg and a mixed greens for the leaf options and then almost 50 options for toppings. There are also four options for bread and a peanut butter or butter option for the bread. As mentioned in previous posts, nothing stood out as exceptional, but we are talking about soup and salad. Other than some puddings on the Buffet, there are no deserts offered in the buffet Very good service that was personable.

The salad wagon and soup bar are definitely worth the trip! Service was outstanding and prompt.
Be the first to ReplyI had a nice steak here recently.
I've raised my review one star. We always like the soup and the salad bar is still average. But a nice family restaurant.

Be the first to ReplyTerrible to see how they neglected the ducks this winter.
Glad they finally surrendered them to rescuers. Hopefully, moving forward, they'll work with professionals to figure out an appropriate way to keep ducks.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and full salad bar.
My daughter loves going to feed the ducks after our meal
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for a family meal.
It's definitely a good place to take children of all ages.

The food at the buffet is awful!!! I'll bet some of the stuff has sat out every day for a week. There was nothing fresh available on that Buffett that was fresh and not old and out of a can.
Be the first to ReplyI used to love this place.
I went there today and it will probably be the last time I go there unless meeting with family members who choose to go there. The buffet was a waste of money and calories. The green beans and corn is unseasoned from the can. The noodles were good and so is the Stovetop dressing. However, I'm pretty sure the left over noodles are put into the broccoli soup, and the left over ham from the salad bar is added to the bean soup because the bean soup has no salt or ham flavor even though there are pieces of ham in it. The mashed potatoes were dried in the pan as was the meatloaf and kielbasa. The turkey and ham is kept in water so the flavor is lost. The salad bar was well stocked thankfully so I was able to enjoy my salad. However, the puddings were also dried on the containers. The dessert looked like they may have been good. However, I only ate a no bake cookie. It was good.Overall, the food was on the bar too long. They needed to add fresh food. Also, they still lay silverware at your table with their bare hands. They clear plates from tables and then handle your silverware with their bare hands. This has always been a pet peeve of mine. I wash my silverware in the restroom when I go in restaurants that do not have pre-wrapped silverware.Today was a waste of my money and I had to eat when I got home.
Be the first to ReplyEXTREMELY friendly staff.
Water was consistently refilled. Environment is very family friendly - cozy, warm, unique and interesting history. Food was good and prices were right. Will definitely be coming here again.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is good and the staff is friendly.
I would recommend updating the menu . Add some healthier items. It should be competing with higher end restaurants
Be the first to ReplyQuality has gone down significantly.
Though never expect a 5 star meal, it was usually decent and fresh food for a decent price. The last two time we have gone the food tasted old or it's not cooked well. Ie tortilla.chips for chili were stale, bake potatoes not done. Though I understand the need to increase prices based on our current environment, no longer will make the trip to pay higher prices for reduced quality. Used to be you would have a little wait for a table. Didn't have to wait at 600 pm on a Saturday night. Telling.....

We usually get the soup and salad bar as the veggies are fresh and the soups very good. Chili is also very good. Includes the bread bar with regular bread, corn bread, how ney butter, etc. The lake views can't be beat plus there's additional shopping at the Oak Cupboard, Toy store and others.
Be the first to ReplyI've been to the Barn several times.
I like the atmosphere and the surrounding gift shops in the parking lot. They have unique items but they are pricey. They have 2 levels in the restaurant. The downstairs level is for the buffet and upstairs you can order from the menu. I typically don't go to the buffet. I can't eat enough food to make it worth the price. I generally order the chicken and ribs combo dinner with barn fries and a vegetable. Used to be tender and juicy but the last few times I've ordered it, it was a bit dry. Next time I go, I'll have to try something different. The bread bar is tasty and their blueberry bread tastes like a blueberry muffin. I really like their honey butter spread too. They have fantastic broccoli cheddar soup and a huge salad bar.The service has always been great. When we are done with our meal I really enjoy feeding the ducks and geese
Be the first to ReplyWe've always had great service at the Barn.
Typically I go for the soup and salad wagon, more specifically the broccoli cheese soup!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was delicious!!! So much to choose from.
We got the buffet and was not disappointed. It will be packed so come early. Beautiful setting.

The Barn has been one of my favorite places for many years, especially the downstairs buffet. It's one of the few buffets still around and has more choices than most of the area's Amish style buffets. I drive from Kent to eat there when visiting Wooster. A lot of people on here complain that the food is substandard. The menu is not fancy and people who expect that type of food should not go here. It is simply good, down-home grub. A big thumbs up from me !!
