Excellent atmosphere
Food, wine and beer excellent but expensive. Staff were friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is very good. It manages the bar and restaurant areas very well
Be the first to ReplyA nice experience for Thanksgiving
Visited for thanksgiving dinner this year - our first experience of thanksgiving as we are from the UK. The quality of the food was good, portion sizes were hearty but not over generous (great for a multi course meal). Service was a little haphazard with starter orders not going in and an issue with the wrong dessert but these were rectified swiftly and we just chalked it up to it being an extremely busy day. Would certainly go back if we found ourselves in SF again.

Vacationing with another couple and decided to try this place out. Very poor service and think the food is over priced for what we had. There are better places in the area. Will not go back.
Be the first to ReplyVery good...just a couple steps from being great
The Cavalier is in the Hotel Zetta so, whenever there is a conference in town (like when I visited), itโs bound to be busy. Owned by the same group as Marlowe and Petit Marlowe, we had high expectations coming here - and I have to admit that Cavalier did not disappoint. A few elements to touch on:
1) the bar had a nice ambiance but it was LOUD.
2) food was absolutely excellent. Our party of 4 started by sharing a dozen oysters, shrimp cocktail and bone marrow. The whole wheat house bread was also fantastic. I only sampled the shrimp which was very good. As an entree, I had the spring vegetable curry which was excellent.
3) service was a bit inconsistent. Gabriel the host was a clear standout who took ownership in making sure our party was sorted. Our server Patrick was too condescending for my liking - and the others in my party had the same reaction.
In summary, I enjoyed the meal but wasnโt wowed by the overall performance. Not sure if I would return on my next trip to the Bay Area.
Great location to eat then walk to the Golden Gate theatre.
We just got back from London and wanted more London food and atmosphere and The Cavalier fit the bill. The location is difficult to find with no signage (but it's worth the hunt). From Market walk toward the Bay on 5th, turn left on Jessie and go into the first set of doors on your left. Again, no signage and it doesn't look like the photo on its website. Great cozy atmosphere but it's very loud. This restaurant is VERY pricey so we shared food and EVERYTHING we had was over-the-top amazing. We had the lamb shank pot pie, the roasted beet salad, the pea salad and the pumpkin bread pudding. We also had really great British hard cider. Make sure to exit through Hotel Zetta and look at the art, especially the chandelier made of eyeglasses at the front entry.

Very festive atmosphere for an early NYE dinner. It was a 3 course prix fixe menu with wine pairings. I chose the mushroom soup, sole, and key lime pie and found everything to taste great. The staff were all friendly, professional, and attentive. I had fun and would go back again.
Be the first to ReplyGo for a drink but skip dinner
We came here for an early Holiday dinner following a show, and while one gentlemen at the bar was extremely gracious in accommodating us at the bar with my elderly mother, the woman behind the bar couldn't have been more annoyed and rude if she tried. Then once seated for dinner our waiter basically had to take all the tables in the restaurant with hardly any help, so our meals came at different times and most of them were sub par. He did a lot to make up for it, but mediocre food is what you can expect and skip the crab salad. It was the last thing served and was barely edible - and it's crab season so it should have been spectacular. My advice is to go for drinks but skip eating there. And, heaven forbid anyone is your party has any kind of handicap, the way they treated my elderly mother shows that the staff needs some serious ADA training.

Sweet Resturant. Welcoming was professional and quick. food was very good . I recommend the heirloom beet salad when u test the creativity of the mix and pan seared scallops plus the Angus ribeye when the carrots meets the mushrooms over a beautiful piece of meet .
Be the first to ReplySurprised no sausage on a english marketed offering
Positives. Place is nicely finished with good ambiance.
The breakfast menu is limited. We attended thinking english breakfast but the menu is much more contemporary and not a "full english" type of place. It has scone and cream, pancakes and sandwiches. Only 6 or 7 choices and no sausages if i didnt mention it!
It is pricey. 14 dollars for pancakes is not a cheap eat, they were fine though.
The best value is probably the scone and cream at 6dollars.
