Top 5 experience! My God!
My God, what a level, this was one of the top 5 restaurantexperiences ever! The personel was fantastic! Our host for the night, Dávíd, was so good! But everybody, great people, great atmosphere, the dishes, the wines.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent family dinner at Costes Downtown!
The service was excellent with warm and friendly waiters/waitresses. The food was very tasty and very well prepared. No complaints at all, everything was great and we really appreciated this dinner.

Excellent location, delicious food, perfect service provided by David and the other waiters. Highly recommended to visit this restaurant.

Great dinner, good service and polite stuff. The food combo was great bit short on wine offer. Best value for money option in Budapest
Be the first to ReplyMemorable lunch experience
The food here is amazing. I had the fortune of trying the three meal lunch menu and it really hit the spot. The wine pairing recommended by our sommelier Dávid went nicely along with our courses. I definitely recommend you check it out.

The dishes in the tasting menu were phenomenal, each course was so interesting and delicious. We did the wine pairing by sommelier David which was amazing. Loved that he showcased excellent Hungarian wines. Our service by Balazs was exceptional! So friendly, knowledgable and attentive and he even arranged a booking for us to have cocktails after the dinner - truly above and beyond 🙌 this place is a must for foodies looking for somewhere elegant but relaxed and cool - highly recommend!

Everything was excellent. The service was great to every detail. The food was in high quality. The main course aged beef with the fresh wasabi sauce was the biggest highlight! Enjoyed very much!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience! David was the best!
We had the best experience at Costes with David! He was so welcoming, friendly, and thoroughly explained each course of the tasting menu. He made our first meal in Budapest so memorable. We really enjoyed our time here and will be recommending Costes and David to our friends!

We had a really pleasant evening, with sublime service from the whole team, especially David and Balázs. We will definitely come back next year.
Be the first to ReplyGive them back their star! They deserve it!
After mailing back and forward with Costes Downtown in regards to suggesting the Chef's Table, we decided to go and book that for a night, and we most definately weren't dissapointed! We were welcomed by our primary waiter who were by our side for all of the evening. We sat in front of the kitchen at our completely own table with no other table in sight. Very undisturbed which made it possible to concentrate on the event that played out during the night. Every member of the staff was very kind, very professional. Prior the evening we were asked about allergies (we had none) and preferences, to which I shared my disliking of trout. Because of this they had rearranged the menu to not include trout but instead scallops, which I only can assume they did for us alone. The feeling of inclusiveness and making sure everything was perfect for us, were a feeling that stayed with us throughout the night. The different courses of the dinner were all great. I could go into detail for every dish but I won't spoil it for other potential guests. Just know that the food is great - and yes, they do charge their dinner course as if they were a 1-star Michelin restaurant but let's be fair: they ARE a 1-star Michelin restaurant! I personally feel they have been neglected in last years determination of who gets a star and who does not. I hope and believe the Michelin Guide for 2024 will be updated with a star for Costes Downtown! For dinner, who chose to pair with drinks instead of wine. We did wine-pairings for other nights at our stay in Budapest, and found it interesting to try something different. All in all: we were not dissapointed with our decision here either. The drinks by themselves were not amazing but paired with the dish they were provided, they elevated one another. I would definately recommend anyone trying Costes Downtown in the future to do the drinks-pairing. That was a fun yet very delicious and intriguing to enjoy together. Thank you very much for an unforgettable night. I feel the few words I've written here doesn't do the experience justice, since I could (and maybe should) write a whole lot more of our night at your restaurant. Therefore I once again give my best recommendations to Costes Downtown and hope that you, as a reader trying to decide where to go, would consider Costes Downtown.

Very good value & good service We enjoyed the free snack a lot. The appetisers were so nice. The pork was unexpectedly delicious, its tender & soft
Be the first to ReplyWonderful food with even better service.
The place is beautiful and the staff is great. The food was small but very good. We had 3 people with different dietary restrictions and everyone had a good time. One vegan, one vegetarian and one pascatarien. The stand out was our very nice and friendly Kristoff. He was sweet and very attentive. He made our meal experience even better. We will definitely come back for the evening tasting menu.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious tasting menu and lovely interior
We dined at this beautiful Michelin star restaurant in Budapest. The location was great, set on the ground floor of the Prestige hotel, and the service was lovely. Would definitely recommend this place if you are in Budapest😊 Loved how they gave little extra snacks.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely superb
5 stars feels too little for this amazing place. We went midweek and had the newly introduced 3 course lunch, which you can also have with individual wine pairings. Everything was absolutely delicious and all the staff were fantastic. 3 courses plus one glass of wine, and amuse bouche and bread was £65. Excellent value. Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyGreat food great expirience and amazing service
Christof and the team are great, well knowledgble with wine pairing and the food is unreal. A must visit when in budapest. (Not cheap tho)
Be the first to ReplyAmazing place, wonderful service
We had the most wonderful time here! Food is great and the service was a lot more we ever expected! The waiters and the sommelier’s knowledge is out of the world! The only thing which I didnt enjoy were the kids in the restaurant, we had to change our table because they were loud. The prices are high, specially in Budapest, but worth it! Anyways… We will definetly come back! Thank you for the lovely dinner!
Be the first to ReplyGood food, miserable service, awful value for money spent.
Had reserved a dinner, early in advance, to celebrate our anniversary on 27 December. The place was noisy, as two small kids from another group were crying all the time so we couldn't enjoy our dinner. We chose a bottle of wine from the wine list, but the sommelier told us that she had seen the last bottle of the particular wine to be served an hour ago. She suggested another bottle without saying that the price was three times the one we had chosen. She served us in the beginning, then she left the bottle on a table without temperature control and disappeared, We were not served again and we asked from a waiter to bring the bottle to our table to serve ourselves. Usually, in restaurants of this level with a degustation menu, there is one waiter who serves following the row of dishes. in our case, there were three different waiters coming and serving from time to time, with different levels of English, so the description of the dishes was hard to understand. The food was quite good. As we finally paid about 500 euros (including the down payment at the time of the reservation) we definitely didn't get such a value. All in all, it was not an expected experience.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, terrible service and aweful price.
The food was quite nice and interesting, an innovative mix of flavors and with great wine pairing. Only issue with the food was that the dishes are studied to be meat based - one of us asked a vegetarian menu and they swapped all meat with fish, but this did not really work for some of the dishes. Further, the service was really lackluster (x2 waiters kept inventing excuses for some evident mistakes as bringing the dish and explaining it while a guest was at the restroom) and the price way too expensive (450€ for x2 aperitif and x2 menu with wine pairing - very pretentious considering this is a bistro and we spent less in Michelin starred restaurants)
