For £145 per person (without alcohol) this restaurant was definitely not worth the money. Sort the reviews by date and you will notice many very recent poor reviews. We have been to many Michelin restaurants and are not afraid of the price. For starters my wife and I were seated a table with a load bearing column literally placed between us. I couldn't even see her without stretching around the post. I mentioned it immediately to the server and she replied they couldn't do anything about it since there was not much room. This was totally ridiculous since there was space everywhere around the table. Over the first few courses we were forced to gradually inch the table forward so we could be near each other. The server, though pleasant enough, was horrible. She kept alternating between still and sparkling water and knew nothing about the level of service she should have been providing and even less about the details of the food. An amuse-boushe was a chicken nugget, dry and tasteless at that. This and multiple other courses were served on a nest of either pine twigs, empty seafood shells, grains or a combination of all. By all accounts the choice of these items had absolutely nothing to do with the individual courses and heaven knows if they throw out all this organic material after each use or recycle it. I won't go through each course but one in particular comes to mind. A scallop course came with an offer of truffles for an extra £50 each. We opted out and received a scallop served in a bed of pine needles and empty shells covered in the most bland sauce I have possibly ever tasted. Canned mushroom soup would have been better. Overall the food was uninspired, presented in a haphazard way and in small portions with the hope we would think it was gourmet. To be fair we mentioned our concerns to the manager early on. He took over the service personally and did a great job but he couldn't change the food and in the end offered us a free cocktail to make up for it. By far the most expensive meal I ate in the UK and easily the least enjoyable.
