Ivan the gentlemen at the register and also serving is one of the best employees the owner has…. A young man that works with excellence. A great place to eat. Food is great… lovely place.

Check out this little joint. Nice cucumber water, tasty appetizers and my fav is the fish and chips. I also loved the eggs Benedict with crispy fried chicken instead of ham. My friend loves the s’mores French toast. Pasta is freshly made. Highly recommend this place for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. I haven’t tried the desserts yet because I’m always so full. I may have to go in one day just to get coffee and dessert.
Servers and cooks are fast and pleasant!
Best beeakfast/lunch!
This small spot has an open kitchen where you can watch your meal being prepared. Everything is fresh. The menu is inventive and delish, some with grain bowls. I like the eggs in stew. The door may be difficult for the handicapped, with several steps up.

A group of us met up for Sunday Bruch. The food was quite good and the atmosphere was nice. We had a great time.

After a busy day of local shopping, I stopped here for lunch. I love this place. It's a small restaurant with an open kitchen where you can see the staff prepare your dish. The menus are unique with grain bowls and skillet dishes as well as standard meals. I just had the 3 poached egg skillet in a tomato, onion, red pepper, yogurt stew and toasted French bread. So delicious that I want to tell everyone in Bay Ridge to eat here! Even the coffee is fresh and delish. Prices are low for the quality and originality. The Commons is always full, but don't pass it by!! The staff is so friendly and modest, too.

As we stepped into the restaurant we where instantly greeted and felt very welcomed.
We had the Pulled Pork Chicked sandwich with fries (12$) and Fried chicken with noodles in peanut sauce (10$).
Will come back!
Fabulous!!
Love The Common! This small restaurant is a Bay Ridge gem. The menu has grain bowls, omelets, all delish. You can watch the brilliant 19 year old chef cook your meal to your specifications from the open kitchen. Service is excellent. Prices are fair. A must in the nabe.

Please don’t hesitate to come here- everything is fresh and delicious. Very nice service as well. We got the avocado bowl and the eggs Benedict plate- DELICIOUS!!! Everything tasted just perfect. Sea berry tea is also very good.

This is about our 4th or 5th visit to The Common. Have enjoyed it every time! Brought out of town guests and they enjoyed as much as we do.
We usually start out with a shared plate of Chopped Chicken Liver Mousse with a drizzle of honey that is served with charred bread. So smooth! We love this dish!
Nina the waitress is friendly and accommodating. She knows her stuff.
George the cook is a jewel on the grill.
We will be going back.
Welcome to Bay Ridge
Just had a delish brunch at this new spot. It replaced a coffee shop that was here for decades. The Commons serves inventive, fresh dishes from breakfast and lunch menus from skillet egg dishes to grain salad bowls. Prices are fair, service is good. There are only about a dozen tables, usually full, and you can watch the chef prepare your meal from the open kitchen. I had Eggs Benedict, the first I've ever had that wasn't swimming in fattening hollandaise sauce. It came with roasted potatoes and shredded lettuce salad. The salmon was salty however; Nova Scotia lox would have been better. The waitress made me a fresh pot of decaf and kept pouring, thanks! A tasty meal--I'll be back!

When I heard that a new brunch place opened in Bay Ridge, I was eager to try it. This area is a bit of a brunch dessert, so a new place was very exciting. The Common didn't disappoint. Everything we had was excellent. I had a skillet dish, which to me looked and tasted a lot like a Mexican themed shakshuka. The flavors were simply perfect! My one complaint would be the bread that was served with it. A skilled dish like this needs a nice grilled sourdough (or similar) bread. The soft toasted top of a roll just didn't cut it. My daughter had a yogurt bowl, which she really liked. We also ordered a pear drink which was fabulous. I love that they have several interesting non-alcoholic beverages.
We had such a lovely time, that we went back a couple of weeks later. This time we both had "on toast" items. My daughter had the avocado, and I had one with ricotta and beets. Once again, the flavor combinations were perfect, absolutely delicious. They both had one issue though. The bread was incredibly tough. Our attempts at cutting through them were almost comical. I'm not sure why this happened, it was thin pumpernickel, not over toasted. They were also not very filling, I feel like if they'd be on thicker bread they might be a bit more filling. A nice sourdough would be perfect.
Overall, we loved everything we had here. This place is excellent, the menu is interesting, their prices are very fair. If not for the bread problem, it would be five stars.
