Terrible service and food that doesn't warrant the effort
Terrible service and food that doesn't warrant the effort to go here. I rarely complain about service, as most of the times, I really don't give a damn as long as the food is good. But capping off an excellent 6 day trip to Wales filled with friendly people and excellent hospitality, this place was utterly disappointing. An awkward and unfriendly staff, whose attitude is vastly different than all the other amazing ppl in the country. The restaurant fame here has prob changed the down-to-earth attitude described in the previous reviews from 5 years ago. As a special shout out, the server w sideburns was extremely friendly so try to get him if you go. The host with the beard was a joke, avoid unless you like some uptight pretentiousness at your neighborhood pub. Btw, the food here needs to improve, the cod was cooked amazingly but sat on top of an overly milky soup of vegis and crab. Overall very little inventive dishes and the execution didn't make up for it.

I've eaten here about 5 times now, and enjoyed each visit imensely. Closer to a posh restaurant than a pub, but very comfortable and relaxed. I can't fault the staff. The food is mostly exquisite, and the beer excellent.
Be the first to ReplyPopped in for lunch on our long way down the A470.
Should/could have been nice and cosy but I had to eat in my coat as it was cold. Took 20 minutes for the menu to be brought to us and another 15 for the order to be taken (although we'd been served drinks in this time). He had the £9.50 bangers and mash and was disappointed by the small portion of sausages, the overworked mash and the over-reduced, gluey jus. I had the £12.50 skate with chorizo, apple and parsnip, which was delicious but really measly. Two mains and two non-alcoholic drinks came to £26. Sadly, I don't see us returning.

We had an excellent set lunch back in November. Roaring fire in the grate, very pleasant and welcoming service.Good leek and potato soup, followed by an earthy duck confit with red cabbage.About £20 for 3 courses.Great wine list plus god ale and cider as well.Highly recommmended.

Very down to earth and friendly. I have to say that my pudding experience - billed simply as dessert of lemon and blood orange - was so zingy and gorgeous and intricate that I don't know where to begin. A delicious lemon mousse, a cool orange jelly, a perfect sorbet sitting on a magnificent bed of marmalade, all accompanied by a dollop of yummy lemon curd and the most amazing kind of sherbet of granules of lemon and orange zest. I wish this was my local!
