Loved it ❤️
Food was lovely - couldn’t fault the staff, attentive but not over the top, polite friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, had starter, roast dinner, and best dessert I’ve ever had ! Venue is beautiful, and very chilled out, look forward to going back, well done to the management who have done brilliantly with the venue and choice of staff, our table was looked after by Adam who was excellent, he’s a credit to you

The website isn’t the best when booking for an afternoon tea. I thought that, by selecting Afternoon Tea, it would give me available times for afternoon tea, but every transaction opened a new tab, so I ended up booking a time not valid for afternoon tea. It was our 50th anniversary so it was seriously disappointing when we told that they had checked with the kitchen and it wasn’t available. But one of the young ladies (I think Erin) discovered an available ‘tea’ and it was fabulous. Adam did a great job looking after us. Our only, minor complaint with the meal was that the sandwiches, lovely though they were, were a bit chunky. Overall, and after the original trauma, we had a fabulous time. Thanks to all concerned.

We chose the LCW as our final 'treat' meal at the end of a wonderful week in Liverpool and it didn't disappoint - lovely venue, attentive but not obsequious staff and superb food. We are not local to Liverpool so sadly cannot visit more often for a night out but thank you for helping us to finish our visit to your beautiful city on a high note.
Be the first to ReplyWell above the average
The LCW is certainly a cut above the ordinary. Lovely interior, great staff, and some superb food. This is NOT a pile-it-high - sell-it-cheap establishment. The food is refined, perfected presented, extremely well balanced flavours and textures. It's real treat ... and we will be back again

Excellent service with stunning food and a fantastic bottle of Sancerre which was more than reasonably priced! Would definitely dine here again and would recommend to anyone to try!
Be the first to ReplyAnniversary dinner........
Been here before, and loved it. We had a (mainly) great experience, so came with high hopes for our special dinner. Celeriac & truffle veloute lacked ANY truffle whatsoever, whether "real", or oil. I queried this, but had no comeback from the kitchen.Sorrel was meant to feature as well, but was not apparent. Texture more of a puree than a veloute proper. I know LCW can do veloutes well as had one here previously. Companion had braised pork cheek with intense ragout sauce and pronounced it notable. She would have had the steak main, but did not fancy the chocolate raspberry coffee beetroot & carrot combination, so played safe with the beautifully served chicken supreme with sweetcorn fritter. I had seared sea bass with spring greens, competently executed. We took a side of triple cooked chips with garlic & rosemary. Neither of those flavours came through, and the chips were so thickly cut they were more like pommes Pont Neuf, and were slightly undercooked in the centre. Desserts - chocolate mousse slice was inspired, not cloying chocolatey, only lacked a little garnish to set off the presentation - maybe 2 or 3 red berries and a green leaf - basil, possibly ? Berry crumble looked slightly deconstructed and seemed like a dollop of compote with a spoonful of crumble topping on top. Ice creams with both were good. A bottle of house rose came as part of the excellent value Monday deal, and was serviceable. Service by the lovely Flossie was friendly, informed, engaged and delightful. She helped make the evening. "Thank You" for the comp anniversary bonne bouches - a nice touch, and much appreciated. A pleasant evening, but a few tweaks would have enhanced things. Under seasoning seems to be a bit of a feature, and the steak flavourings sound off putting. We want to love this place, and will certainly revisit when we return to Liverpool !

Booked fixed price Sunday dinner menu to celebrate my wife’s fifty-something birthday. Table booked for 5:30pm to give enough time to make 8:00pm show at the Philharmonic. Had never previously dined at LCW, but had been past numerous times, so thought we’d give it a whirl, and so glad we did! Lovely venue - relaxed, friendly and chilled. Staff/service was excellent throughout, especially our waiter, Adam. Opted for 3-courses including an amuse-bouche. Every food course was fantastic. A real mouth-watering treat! All washed down with a bottle of Adobe Sauvignon Blanc. We very much look forward to many more visits!

We came for the prix fixe menu with frinds from Australia. Always special to eat here and the food, service and wine were all lovely. We will continue to come back. Good dinign without being pretentious.

Food was spot on especially the beef cheek start and the atmosphere was chilled as ever. My favourite restaurant in town
Be the first to ReplyExcellent afternoon tea at The London Carriage Works
We had afternoon tea yesterday afternoon, a birthday gift from my daughter and her wife. The whole experience was really lovely. The staff were welcoming, pleasant and attentive, the table set beautifully and the food excellent.

Excellence afternoon tea. I had the vegan option and definitely the best vegan afternoon tea I’ve had. Great service. It was a Saturday afternoon and was fairly quietly.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect start to an evening away
Choosing from ther Sunday Menu, each course was a joy. My wife is a coeliac and considered the gluten free bread to be the best she's had anywhere. And the new butters served were a revelation. Service was excellent and we were able to taste two wines to help us choose. An excellent start to out evening away in the hotel.

Our visit was for afyernoon tea having been gifted it for my 75th birthday. It was a lovely present and having been informed of same before the date the antipication was part of the pleasure. Nor was it a disappointment in the actual event. The food was excelent and the service faultless. The staff were both eficient and pleasant. Nothing was too much for them although our requests were minor, another pot of tea for example, they were carried out without any problem. In short I have no hesitation in recommending The London Carriage Works to anyone. It fulfills its promise of a really enjoyable experience.
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon Tea to dwell over
When you have searched for somewhere to go in an unfamiliar city it is reasuring that The London Carriage Works will live up to expectations. The surroundings are modern, spacious and tranquil. Service is pleasant and well measured so that you can mke the most of the company you're in without feeling rushed or hounded. The Afternoon Tea offered all the usuals but hit high notes on the taste of the treats. If I visited Liverpool again I would have to try out lunch or an evening meal, it holds so much promise.
Be the first to ReplyGreat evening
We came for an early dinner. Had pre dinner cocktail which was delicious. Spoilt for choice with the menu and took advice on the wine. Delicious food, great staff and a lovely atmosphere. Good value for money too. We have been before and have always had a great experience. Thanks

We were staying at the Hope Street Hotel and ate at the TLCW last night, It was the sort of service we haven't seen since before the covid era! I wasn't sure about the fillet steak with coffee and chocolate but it was gorgeous went far a quick lunch in the bar there today and they were the best chips I can remember. Thank you.

Be the first to ReplyAwful ☹️
I visited this restaurant recently with a friend . My daughter was treating us as I was coming to the end of chemotherapy treatment. This turned out to be one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. I had ordered ciabatta with fillet steak filling. The meat looked like chopped bits of burnt leftovers. It was totally inedible. Never in this world was it fillet steak. I took a mouthful and found it so chewy I had to dispose of it into a tissue. I complained to waitress that it was inedible. She offered to change to another meal . By the time it arrived my friend had finished her meal. As she was finishing her meal she noticed a long black human hair on her plate. As we both have fair hair it definitely didn’t belong to us We assumed it had fallen from the waitress’s hair as she had very dark hair. We didn’t mention the hair as it was embarrassing to feel the need to complain again. The waitress was very nice and I think it may also have been embarrassing for her. What a huge huge disappointment . It’s a lovely venue and the staff were accommodating just a pity about the substandard food. Just wanted to spend a nice afternoon with my friend This turned into an uncomfortable and embarrassing experience.

A perfect evening. Did welcome the absence of raucous bar background this time. As ever the food was exquisite and the service open friendly and courteous without being obsequious!
Be the first to ReplySurprise lunch!
My friends surprised me with a meal out for my 30th and I loved it! The carriage works decor and design is stunning - I felt very spoilt. We had the prix fixe menu where I had the pork belly, chicken and delice. The pork belly was the star of the show for me with so much flavour coming through. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyUsed to be better....
The food used to be really good here but on each occasion I've visited over the last two years, the decline has been very noticeable.
It has gone from being beautifully presented, tasty and balanced fayre to bland, under seasoned and overcooked.
Even the service isn't as good as it used to be. Any complaints over the food were just dismissed.
The wine is still good, at least.
Overpriced food that isn't anything special
Went here for my birthday and found it very basic and nothing special. I was expecting a dynamic menu with great presentation, but it was small portioned OK food that wasn't worth the price.
I am glad for the experience and all the staff were lovely, just a little disappointing. I wouldn't go back.
Brilliant experience, brilliant staff
Visiting for the first time in 8 years (use to work there) the experience was amazing. First time having afternoon tea and it was worth every penny we paid. Which was £19.50 each.
The food was very fresh and delicious, you can tell the cakes and scones where home made. Highly recommended 👌
A wonderful restaurant
I looked for a restaurant to go to for a friends birthday girlie trip to Liverpool - and came upon the London Carriage Works. Many great reviews - so I thought - let’s give it a go. We were so so delighted with the choice
The restaurant’s interior was inviting as was the atmosphere. Whilst on A Wednesday night at the beginning of March it wasn’t so busy - it didn’t matter to us!
Service was great - with a waiter called Loui.
Each and every mouthful of the food was yummy. Our choice of a good red Rioja only added to the enjoyment.
