Casual, friendly & delicious
Casual & friendly with delicious food - the best lobster roll I’ve ever had. Servers were brilliant - attentive and very friendly. We had a great time and it was nice to get away from the snootiness of other restaurants! Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyMust go! Best Lobster Pot!!!
I don’t understand how this place isn’t rated higher. Service was great… drinks were excellent… and the lobster “boil” was perfectly prepared. Not a single complaint!!!!
Be the first to ReplyLess fried food, bring back the delicious pan seared fish!
We have always loved the Lobster Trap until recently. We used to love getting fresh fish, as well as lobster. Now most of the fish is fried and they don’t even let your substitute French fries for something healthier. We would love to have the pan seared haddock (or halibut, I forgot which) and wild rice with veggies back on the menu. It’s just too fried and not flexible…
Be the first to ReplyAwful food, nice waitstaff
First let me say the waitstaff couldn't be nicer. As for the food, absolutely awful! Ordered the swordfish without the "blackened" seasoning. Tasted like iodine. It was over the hill. Probably why they don't offer it without heavy spicing. My wife ordered the Cesar salad with crispy chicken which was mushy and the dressing must have been out of a "big lot" economy bottle. Again, dreadful as were the stale cheap crotons. Guessing this place is good for lobster and nice bar. There are reasons why other places have lines and this place is pretty empty. If you want a nice dinner, avoid this place!
Be the first to ReplyWe love it. It’s one of our favorite places because it’s simple, not pretentious . Great lobsters and raw bar
We love the lobster trap. We have been to all the restaurants. The lobster trap is simple and unpretentious . Service great. We always just have the lobsters and the raw bar. Food quality is excellent .

Not a 1 because the lobster was good. For rest, forget it after all. Paper plates, carton trays with a left Bayer roll for $33, fries an extra $8. First and last time!

Really Fresh Delicious Seafood 🦞 served by friendly staff who attentive and care about the patrons experience. Portions were generous. The outdoor bar is adorable. Perfect casual spot for families with kids. Can’t wait to return on our next visit to the island 🏝
Be the first to ReplyNot up to par!
Four of us for dinner without a reservation were seated immediately. Now I know why. The bar was empty. The restaurant was about half occupied It was because of the food. A big disappointment. Service was good. Cornbread was very good. Pretty much downhill from there. Fish tacos were the worst I’ve ever had, Another in our party had the scollops and was equally unimpressed. Lot’s of great restaurants in Nantucket but this isn’t one of them.
Be the first to ReplyGood local lobster restaurant
This is a seafood restaurant and mostly lobster. We had one of our best meals on our two week trip to Cape Cod and Nantucket. If you want an unpretentious meal and lobster done right this is the spot. Go early since they do not take reservations as far as we could tell.

Old school lobster & seafood dishes in a traditional atmosphere. The patio is very pretty when all lit up. The stuffed baked lobster was really good, although a little too much breading. A bit easier to eat than a whole lobster, but you still need to work on the claws and tail. Excellent chowder and corn bread.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect meal- exactly what it was supposed to be
We had an amazing meal. The warm lobster roll was full of flavor, perfectly portioned. My wife’s seafood pasta was delicious. The service was the perfect balance of friendly, cool, and competent (waitress from Park City- I forget her name). If you’re in the mood for seafood- this place does it well.
Be the first to ReplyGrossly underwhelming.
Food was less than sub par, we asked for recommendations from the bartender, who was sweet originally. Ordered one app on her recommendation, the calamari. The steamers (which we traveled for, with a “broth” that we specifically asked about was just hot water with parsley. Calamari came out which was whatever covered in Mae ploy. There was more fried banana peppers than there was frozen calamari. The clam chowder was 100% campbells chunky soup. I’d bet my soul on it. After all the apps arrived, we decided not to do dinner here. We explained that we were not happy with the calamari…which wound up on the check, I then asked if a manager was around, which was the guy standing 2 feet in front of us, hearing everything going on and just decided to keep scrolling threw his phone that was on the charger. We were just letting him know that the calamari was not up to par and clearly frozen and we didn’t want to pay for something we didn’t eat. His response was “everyone has frozen calamari” which is correct of you’re ok with being like every other tourist trap. (I source my calamari from Cali. NEVER frozen at my restaurant ) all in all, the food was a joke. The steamers were legit if provided with a proper broth. Not a dogs water bowl that’s been left out in the sun all day. The soup, 1000% canned, the clams Casino not bad. The calamari were drawn up on a bennigans menu 25 years ago. The manager tho, that guy took the cake for the I don’t give a sh*t award and took first place. I’m never one to post, but the clear disregard for service and quality at this restaurant is more palatable than the tasteless food they provide.
Be the first to ReplySolid good seafood restaurant - the Locals eat here.
Recommend this place. Fast friendly service. Good food, seafood standards. We went here because the fancy tourist places were closed and we were very happy we did - not fancy but good value.

This was really a disappointment. They were "out" of oysters so we had some Little Neck Clams. They were good and later someone we ran into said that's the thing to get. So, not a lot of prep necessary, just purchase good clams and open them up. They were pretty good. Would have loved to see how well they opened the oysters as well. Absolutely nothing that a better version of can't found in San Antonio, Texas. That's a huge fail for a place in NE with Lobster in its name. The clam chowder was not as good as Campbell's. Really. Not even worth finishing. But honestly, Nantucket is not a place for great food experiences. Even the best food we had was mediocre and, of course, way overpriced. But the Lobster Trap was the low point. I'm sure there is worse food on the island though.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed!!!
There were 6 of us. We sat down and our waiter immediately handed us our menus and asked for our order. I responded with "well we would like to order drinks first. Which we did. When he returned with the drinks he again asked for our order. I had the pasta scalpini with shrimp, scallops, and lobster (only claw meat) It was totally without ANY flavor , the scallops were dry and overcooked. I had a bunch of pasta all stuck together. My friend ordered a hamberger (I know, it is a seafood restaurant) The NHL could have used it for a puck. It was not edible (They did take it off the bill) the people who ordered the lobster were not impressed. The best that could be said was a good presentation. We found the service poor the food terrible and it was out most expensive meal on Nantucket. I do not recommend!!

We dined here after a recommendation for someone on a shuttle service. The waitress delivered my lobster without the lobster fork, nutcracker, etc. I got it about 5 minutes after my food was delivered. Portions not particularly hearty. The lobster was good as well as the sides but definitely not what I would expect for the price.

My family and I had asked around town about great lobster rolls and everyone kept mentioning the Lobster Trap. We went there for lunch but discovered it’s was closed during the off season. So we went back for dinner. So glad we did. We had ashy as our waitress. Fantastic. She catered to our needs and wants. I had the Caesar salad with Lobster salad on top and a side of Brussel sprouts. Great meal! Others in my group had the scallops, haddock and fried clams. Everyone was thrilled with the food and service. So glad we found this place.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful food so so service
We’re here from Michigan and had a delicious dinner, seafood scampi. The scallops melted my n your mouth and the lobster and shrimp was delicious. Our waitress was pretty lame. She never came back to see if we needed anything which we did, never brought us one of our drinks and took forever to bring us our check but our meal was wonderful!
