The Nines Portland Reviews from The Last Year
Awesome!
Kris was amazing! Thank you for being so quick and amazing! I really appreciate you and all of the hard work you put in for our stay! I will most definitely be coming back as the service and speed/quality was outstanding. Thank you again so much!
Great for the business travelers
Another great experience at The Nines! Rooms are always clean and love the vibe, especially at Departure. Valet service was beyond exceptional this trip. Trying to get out for meetings in the morning is always hectic, but Tim and James made sure to ask about my schedule in advance and had my car ready (and warm!) by the time I needed to head out each morning. Greatly appreciated and look forward to returning!!
Exceptional staff and delightful stay!
Cruz Malochwiej and his entire team were an absolute delight and made the stay extra special! We will be back again and rave to all of our friends how wonderful The Nines is and especially the staff. Exceptional hospitality isn't as common as it used to be in any hotel or restaurant these days, so when we experience it we are extremely grateful and aware. Thanks again for a great stay!
Nice Surprise
I have not been to the Nines since pre pandemic. I was looking forward to the club level with the cocktails, chef designed appetizers and the ridiculous deserts! But, it closed during the shutdown and has not reopened ( Please bring it back!) The front desk person, Anadi, saw how disappointed i was and had fresh backed cookies along with locally sourced chocolates sent to my room. What a nice surprise! This was Ritz Carlton (pre Marriott) service, Well done! I will be back. Plus the valets were all outstanding and helpful!
Excellence....
I had a recent extended stay at The Nines in Portland. I want to give a shout to the following Valet and Bell staff: Matt, Jason, Scott, Paul, Mike, Nick, Tim, Matthew, Kris, Aman, Julia, and Arash. Yes, it is a long list but I interacted with each one on multiple occasions and each time I was welcomed back by name and with great warmth. Being greeted by this team at least twice a day often multiple times a day allowed me to have a connection to the hotel beyond the excellent front desk service and wonderful room. So often Valet and Bell service is reduced to a simple transaction, the service at The Nines is 10 steps above.
Great Food, Great Service, Great Location
I planned a surprise stay at The Nines with my girlfriend, and suffice it to say, the experience was worth the price! Their staff is incredibly friendly (as to be expected from a 5-star establishment), and the concierge assisted me in setting up some special arrangements upon check in. Shoutout Patrick. I must recommend dining at BOTH of the on-site restaurants, Departure and Urban Farmer. They both had exceptional options, and I can't imagine staying here and not getting food at either place. I also have to recommend utilizing your free tickets to the Portland Art Museum! It only comes with 2 tickets, so if you have a family, you may still need to purchase additional tickets, but the Museum was a great time! They are currently in the process of adding an entirely new building, which should be finished by the end of this year. The hotel is conveniently located, and I ended up walking everywhere that we went for the weekend! Depending on the weather, this may be a worse idea, but it is certainly within walking distance to many cool spots! Thanks again for the wonderful stay.
Service to the nines
We had a fantastic time staying at The Nines. Leading up to our stay, the concierge Cruz Malochwiej reached out by email, providing some great information about the hotel and asking if I needed anything. I was able to arrange for birthday balloons, flowers and cake to be in the room. The check in process was smooth, and our room was one of our favorite we’ve ever had in Portland, and we’ve stayed in a lot of them. The hotel was able to take us to our dinner reservation in their courtesy car which was very nice. One thing to be aware of is that the mini fridge is full of beverages to purchase. We had stopped to get some charcuterie and had to search for empty space to store it in the fridge. This also led to us being charged for some items that we had not taken from the fridge. I would have to assume there is some sort of scale or something. I thought it was going to be a hassle to have the charges removed, but the front desk removed them with no questions asked. We would definitely stay at The Nines again, it was a great experience.
Treat yourself and book here!
My mother and I had a lovely time at The Nines. The welcoming flowers, chocolate covered strawberries, and the attentive service every where we went made our stay impossible to forget. I am already dreaming about our next stay. Our concierge, Cruz and her hospitable team created such a wonderful atmosphere for us. The beds were comfy, bathrooms roomy, and our dogs were beyond welcomed.
Dependable and Luxurious
Best hotel in Portland. Great staff, good food, comfortable rooms, great beds, central downtown location - we'll keep coming back. even the valet team is great. they reach out before your stay and help arrange any dinners or tours or coordinate flower delivery.
A wonderful and relaxing stay
A phenomenal stay at the nines, ultra luxurious and Cruz our concierge ensured we had everything we wanted in our room on arrival and assisted us through our stay. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Portland. We are in Portland often and have tried numerous hotels, this is hands down, our favorite.
The Nines hotel is personally responsible for my car being
The Nines hotel is personally responsible for my car being stolen. They gave my car to a woman I had met that same night. She had poisoned me stole my computer and the keys to my car. I cannot speculate as to how she convinced the valet staff to release my car to her. She said her name was "Bae Miles". She didnt provide ID and her name was not on the room. I also booked the room for 1 guest. I am a male in my 30s for context. I had to find out on my car had been stolen, let me elaborate. When I checked out they took my valet ticket and never brought my car out. 15, 30, 1 hour goes by and no car. No update from the staff. They then brought out her busted car which she had valeted herself. I did not have her ticket which is even more confusing. When I notified the valet staff of thier mistake they played dumb and immediately tried to place blame on me. They showed zero concern and chose to mock me, tease me and let each patron at the hotel know what had happened in a derogratory fashion. They were making fun of me in a moment of durress. Their security was equally unethical and lacked any sort of moral compass. Let me rephrase that, he didn't do anything to get my car back, showed zero initiative to the duties of his job as head of hotel security but said a few supprtive statements. Hey bud, I don't need your sympathy, I need you to get you immature culprits in check and call the police, lets start there. It was a situation in which I am the one dealing with an emergency while also being the adult in the room. I had to repeat myself over and over and over again asking for his assistance in retrieving my car. The car had been gone for over 24 hours at this point and they felt no motivation to let me know that. They even attempted to charge me for the additional days even though my car was no longer parked there, probably a clerical mistake but when in that type of experience small details like that become painful arrows of disresepect. Back to the head of security, all he wanted was a written statement from me on a form that could fit one paragraph. I was also so visibly distraught that my hands were shaking and he refused to write for me. There was one shining light who was a female member of the hotel management team. Thank you very much, you are an angel and you know who you are. That will never be forgotten. She at least had the decency to apologize and empathize. The rest were a bunch of bullies who will have thier day in civil and or criminal court. I would highly recommend that member of your staff call me as soon as possible so we can begin mediation. I seek monetary damages for the cost of my car, as it had been taken to a chop shop(I later retrieved it without any assistance from the hotel). I also seek monetary damages for the emotional abuse and mental torture your staff members administered that day. Shame on you. I am still dealing with PTSD from that day and was in fear for quite some time after. If it matters your room was small but designed with class and sophistication. Your hotel is ecclectic and the restuarants were all of high quality and the staff members outside of security and valet/bellhop were pleasant. I checked in to your hotel on 7/6/2022, my initials are G C and the last four of my card I used to book it are 7881. You have enough to find me. Make haste as I am interviewing legal counsel for the pending civil lawsuit.
We enjoyed every aspect of our experience at the Nines.
The food was surprisingly awesome. We rarely eat out because I prepare much better food than most restaurants. The Urban Farmer left our tastebuds singing with every item we ordered for dinner and breakfast. Our room was perfect in every way. The bed was simply heavenly. I've not slept that well in a very long time. We would definitely come her again for a romantic outing.
Loved the hotel.
Beautiful, elegant and very comfortable. Such a delightful stop during our short visit to Portland. Fell for the Tiffany blue color theme of the room. The lobby bar has fantastic vibe - beautiful music and gorgeous interior. Everything would've been perfect should have the restroom was cleaner. Didn't meet expectation given it's a luxury hotel. Shout out to Jaylen and Tim from the valet parking - wonderful service, much appreciate!
All in all we had a pleasant stay.
The staff overall was very accommodating and attentive. The valet team was excellent! They do charge a $30 resort fee each night, however you can use that towards food at the 2 restaurants on site. Our room was a little dusty and a unique odor in the room. Not quite sure we had a 5 star experience, but all in all it was a pleasant stay. Feedback would be to dust better in the rooms and spot treat the couches in the rooms.
Having visited Portland many times, this was my first stay
Having visited Portland many times, this was my first stay at The Nines and it was exceptional. Although it has over 300 rooms, it really felt like a boutique hotel with amazing artwork throughout. When I arrived, there was no acknowledgement of my Titanium status. I had requested a room upgrade using Marriott Rewards points before my arrival, but that wasn't successful. However, I was told the property had upgraded me from a superior to a deluxe room (which are basically the same room but facing the street, rather than the courtyard). The hotel did provide a $40 breakfast credit daily and $30 daily amenity fee credit which were greatly appreciated. When you arrive at your room, you immediately sense luxury: the marble bathroom, dark woods, rich wall coverings, and a super comfy bed. I just wish our room was larger. The Departure Lounge on the 15th floor was hopping each night we were there. Great city views and awesome craft cocktails and light bites. We found the location to be ideal for exploring the city and enjoying the stellar Portland dining scene. It was also great to run along the river in the early morning. The Urban Farmer restaurant in the atrium is a great place for breakfast or any meal. We really enjoyed working with Molly who was a hostess and waitress there. We'd highly recommend the Eggs Benedict, Granola and the awesome Applewood Maple Bacon.
The weekend began on a positive note with my son's visit
The weekend began on a positive note with my son's visit from California, who had reserved a two-night stay here to commemorate my approaching milestone birthday. However, it took a turn for the worse. Regarding our stay, some aspects were less than satisfactory. Room service lacked clarity, as there were no clear instructions for ordering. When we ordered two cocktails for room delivery, it took an excessive 45 minutes. Moreover, we received a call from the bar 30 minutes into the wait, informing us that our preferred tequila was unavailable and asking for a replacement choice. Additionally, the TV lacked streaming options such as Amazon or Netflix. The bed was super comfortable and the hotel is very well insulated making noise from outside barely noticeable. The introduction to the concierge team was lengthy and lacked a simple explanation of how to contact and request their services. However, the most frustrating experience was with the valet service. Despite having stayed at numerous upscale hotels, we had never experienced such a delay with valet service. Arriving after 11:00 PM, we pulled up to the curb and waited, unsure of the procedure. Another car arrived behind us and received immediate assistance, prompting us to finally disembark in the rain and retrieve our bags. My son addressed the valet team, but their response was far from satisfactory. Instead of offering an apology, they repeatedly offered to park our vehicle. When my son questioned why they prioritized the car that arrived after us, they had no explanation. The situation escalated, with another staff member joining, who was dressed in shorts and flip-flops. Rather than addressing our concerns privately, the staff ignored my son's requests for explanations. Eventually, they called the police and asked my son to leave the hotel, leaving me without transportation. We had separate rooms, and he was supposed to arrange my ride home the next day. With no knowledge of his whereabouts and the staff offering no assistance, I had no choice but to call my daughter, who lived nearby, for a ride home. I was even billed for that night's stay, despite being unable to remain due to their decision to escort my son off the property. It was a ludicrous situation. I was distressed, my thoughts in disarray, and not a single person inquired about my well-being. The reception desk merely checked me out and stated that charges would be applied in the morning. With my son living in Newport Beach, California, we have stayed in truly luxurious hotels--places like The Beverly Hills Hotel, The Peninsula--and at such establishments, every detail is attended to. The valet is at your service from the moment you arrive, exuding professionalism, and the hotel staff never ceases inquiring about your comfort and whether there's anything more they can do. Our stay here was a profound disappointment. I didn't even have the opportunity to say goodbye to my son and give him a hug! He flew out the next day. Also, ironically, the police officers were more courteous than the valet staff, having to admonish the attendant in flip-flops to "calm down" as he made inappropriate comments about his appearance in comparison to my son's- trying to show my son his muscles. In my opinion, if a hotel carries a five-star rating, it should unquestionably live up to that distinction. Regrettably, this one falls short.
Me and wife celebrated our 19th anniversary here and we
Me and wife celebrated our 19th anniversary here and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously thanks to the staff and the overall experience. Days before arriving they answered all my emails and address a concern I had. The valet, front desk check in was seamless and quick. The front desk clerk I believe her name was Grace went above and beyond to make our anniversary a success. Made me look even better. She gave us an upgrade to a marvelous suite and provided champagne and strawberries in our room. That was definitely a hit. . Anyway the room was spacious and clean. It was a bit of a walk from the elevator to our room but not a big deal but worth mentioning. Everything nearby to eat and shop was in walking distance but if you get the complimentary electric bike rental do that. It made getting around so much better. To recap the Nines is a must stay and my first choice when I'm in Portland.
I was completely underwhelmed with the front desk service
I was completely underwhelmed with the front desk service and concierge without attention to detail even when emailed for assistance with weeks in advance even with an ambassador status. It was so disappointing especially since we were so excited to stay here The brunch menu and food was delicious and our waitress was great. The roof top view was stunning but the restaurant was quite overpriced for the experience. The rooms were very clean unfortunately we stayed on the side by the courthouse and there was some protesters we could clearly hear.
This was a really cool hotel right in the heart of Portland.
The safe was great, the hotel had a cool vibe, and they pride themselves on cleanliness-thank goodness for that. The gym actually has equipment that you can actually get a good workout in. Their restaurant and food was great also. My friend had a medical emergency there and their staff was Johnny on the spot. Great job to the management and team.
I travel for work often, and to Portland at least six times
I travel for work often, and to Portland at least six times per year. I am a very seasoned traveler and understand well hotel's policies and processes. I usually stay at the Nines when in Portland as it is very central. My business partner had gotten violently mugged outside the nines hotel so it was already a tough trip. On the day of my departure I had packed my bags but had my jewelry pouch and sunglass case on my hotel room's desk. I left with my bags but had not checked out as I thought I may want to return after my meeting. Once I was in the Uber I found out my meeting was going to be virtual so I decided to head to the airport. Realizing that I still had those items on the desk, I called the hotel to ask them to ship them to me and check me out of my room. This was 15 minutes or less after I had left the hotel. Wraith, who had helped me many times at the front desk before, said he would get the items and call me back. I received no call back. I called again once my flight landed and Wraith wasn't there. I then spoke to the security manager Toren. Toren said he would investigate and get back to me. What I found out later was that the housekeeping team that was working that day was not able to be 'contacted' as in they didn't show up for work after that. And Wraith no longer worked at the property the very next week. However, I was being given the run-around in that Toren wasn't calling me back for weeks and no answers were being given. Note that I had supplied within the first week a full itemized list of what had been taken, links for replacement value and receipts of my purchases. When I was staying in Portland again, I went in person and asked to speak to the Managing director of the hotel (Jennifer) who gave me the contact information for their insurance company along with a claim number. I have since followed up with the insurance company ongoing for months. I had one phone call from the adjuster after many messages and emails. Not only was he accusatory and unpleasant but he also said I needed to have listed all the items in my possession with the front desk at check-in to prove that they had been in the hotel. I did offer to share photographs of me wearing some of the items the day before. Can you imagine checking into a hotel and asking a front desk agent to note all items I am traveling with each time? Anyways, it is now July 11th after many many unanswered phone calls and emails I just received an email from the insurance company denying the claim. Seeing as they are a global insurance company who represents a Marriott hotel, they assume one consumer will not be able to take them on. Can a hotel's staff take items of value with no recourse? $9622 worth of items, some with significant sentimental value are gone. 10-15 minutes is all it took for them to enter my room and take my items. I have now spent five months trying to get the hotel and their management to make it right.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal

Got impossible NYC res

Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
