Nestled among lush gardens, centerfold to Beverly Hills, is the grand Peninsula Hotel Beverly Hills. At a prestigious zip code, located at the nexus of Wilshire & South Santa Monica boulevards, it is a hop-skip-and-jump from the holy grail of spending, Rodeo Drive and the Hollywood hotspots are also a short jaunt away. Clothed in a classic chateau-styled architecture, the lobby greeted me with marble tiled floors, gilded chandeliers and sparkling floral arrangements. The Peninsula's meandering pathways are lined with pansies, lemon and palm trees giving off an aura of a garden oasis. Service is impeccable, guests are treated like royalty and as a kicker, the hotel provides a free Rolls Royce drop-off service.......some of that royal treatment. The Peninsula property is all dressed up with 195 rooms, including 28 suites and 18 'wow' private villas. My stylish Beverly suite was super spacious and smartly appointed in a chic European style with elegant furnishings and a canopy bed. The room was warm and bright with honey-toned wood millwork and garden-print fabrics that provided an outdoorsy effect. The living room was superb and I felt like a President sitting at the writers desk. The star amenity, however, were the French windows that opened up on to a private patio and sported stunning views of the city. The bathroom was also elegantly outfitted with marble and a separate soaker tun and shower and bath robes that felt like a mink coat. The Peninsula is home to a sumptuous venue of restaurants. The Roof Garden provides California cuisine offering light bites by the pool. I loved the corn beef hash and shrimp avocado lettuce wrap. The Living Room provides Afternoon Tea in an range of flavors along with sweets and finger sandwiches. This is a serious affair and wildly popular. The Belvedere is the hotel's answer to fine dining in a European Brasserie format and features a beautiful courtyard terrace. As I flew over the menu, I selected the Dover Sole (fantastic), couldn't resist the Peach Melba Creme Brulee (love those peaches) and I washed things down with a 'Sin of St. Tropez' cocktail (it was pretty sinful). The rooftop pool is one of the smartest in the city with sweeping city views, lounge chairs that feel like beds, technology inspired private cabanas, a jacuzzi and, of course, the Rooftop Garden eatery. To keep fit , there is a well equipped fitness center, even Peleton Bikes. The Peninsula Spa is a hub of wellness promoting it's innovative 24K gold programs....more of that royal treatment. If you yearn for a luxury drenched hotel, embellished with a floral vibe in and out, fine food fare, rooftop oasis and spa, and overall treated royally.............then try the ................The Peninsula Beverly Hills.........A Grand Tinseltown Oasis.
