Underwhelming! Was expecting so much more.
Service was very spotty and food was standard brunch fare and not done very well. Nice touches and staff but definitely far from the elevated experience I expected. Attention to detail was just missing. Much better brunches to be had out there! Ambience is beautiful and relaxing though!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing service and great food.
The ambiance is so romantic. Dark room and clean bathrooms. Great wine list and seasonal menus.

Been there multiple times, today will be last time. Food is ok - we go for breakfast but service horrible. This is the 2nd time we went in, ordered two plates for breakfast and waited over 30 min to get food. Today we walked out, food still not there nobody coming by to explain a possible kitchen backup or ??? Make it worse as we are waiting for Valet to pull up our car the waiter runs out to tell me our food is ready. I look at him with a "WTF" look and he turns around and yells back "we are doing our best"! Really? No thanks, done there...

A beautiful place to take a date, out of town guests, or just yourself if you want a quiet and classy restaurant. The food is delicious. The servers are kind and courteous. Valet parking only
Be the first to ReplyI visited last night and they had great live music.
Our reservation was for 530 pm and the place was pretty empty, but by the time I left at 830 PM, it was completely full. I ordered the fried chicken which was great. It came with a biscuit which was even better. I also enjoyed the crap cake. The cookie Sunday dessert was great! The service was great. They had valet parking as well. Overall it's a beautiful place with great ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food in a bucolic setting.
I had the Seared Ahi Tuna salad, which was delicious; my friend had Shepherd's Pie, which he also thoroughly enjoyed. Love this place and will keep coming back.

This was a great place to have our Christmas brunch with my team. It was very festive and the food was delicious! The service was great!
Be the first to ReplyWe had an amazing dinner to celebrate our anniversary.
The resort setting is beautiful and the dining room is spacious and open with windows in all directions. The team of wait staff was discreetly attentive throughout our dinner even with a completely full dining room. We started with wine and a mocktail, great selection of wines by the glass. They offer hot roasted spiced nuts with your initial drinks, a nice touch versus the standard bread. The appetizers are large portions and we ordered two, the cauliflower which was a whole head roasted with a well balanced spice rub and light glaze of cheese, plus the field mushrooms cooked in wine. These were fabulous. The wagyu steak with creamed spinach, potatoes and wine reduction was buttery excellent and the halibut was perfectly paired with a citrus butter sauce. I was already full from the appetizers so took a portion of my halibut home as it would be a sin to leave something this good on the plate. Our waiter brought us a special treat for our anniversary of a strawberry sparkler with a couple of chocolate dipped madeleine cookies in a box, a very thoughtful treat. We will definitely visit again when we are in town.

Given prior great experiences here, I excitedly booked our Valentine's Day dinner as early as I could (30 days out) and was super disappointed in what we got. I have gluten and seafood allergies and when I was worried about their prix fix menu, they assured me they would be able to accommodate. The first course was skipped for me (it was a bread course but they didn't bring it for my husband either who is fine with gluten and also paid the full $175 for the menu). They had a potato course also at the top of the menu (which I could eat without the caviar), but didn't notice that (while on the prix fix menu), this was an additional $35. The salad was ok, the cheese was very strong for the salad. The next two courses were a plate of carrots and a cauliflower steak. Both were seasoned the same with a curry flavor (not the best - especially for two courses back to back). None of the desserts were gluten free so they brought me a super bitter raspberry sorbet and coconut sorbet that tasted like sunscreen. I paid over $600 for two people and ended up leaving hungry. I saw people around us ordering off the normal menu but apparently this was reserved for club members. If they aren't able to properly accommodate for food sensitivities, then they should say as much or allow people to order off the normal menu. I walked away feeling cheated when I previously loved this place.

Wow! This was a very memorable experience - shout out to my friend Ben for the inspiration. We had an exquisite brunch here with a party of 7. Allow me to set the scene. After exiting the freeway and driving into the beautiful scenery of Rancho Santa Fe, you're greeted by a guarded gate.Upon stating you'll be having brunch at the Pony Room, the gates will open and you'll drive down a scenic windy road. At the end of the road is complimentary valet. Hand off your keys to join the ranks of Rolls Royce's and Bentleys. Walk down the covered path to be greeted by the staff, who will walk you to the dining room.We had a beautiful corner table overlooking the hillside. The service was impeccable. Highly attentive and polite. The food was delicious. Prices are elevated but not too much higher than eating elsewhere these days. Enjoyed my French dip. Loved the experience and ambiance even more. Definitely worth going to at least once.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the 2nd time we have eaten here.
It was cold so they seated us inside the main dining room near a nice fireplace. This place is elegant, classy, but not too over the top. We had Scott as our server and between him and his support staff, the service was superior/AWESOME. The food is plated with STAUB plates that keep your food warm. I have looked these up as they used to use them at Aviara Golf clubs old steakhouse upstairs called the ARGYLE. Top quality dinnerware for a top quality restaurant/resort. Overall we give this place a 10/10. We had the lobster nachos, the "famous" fried chicken they have on Thursdays, the Sea Bass and everything was extremely good. Pricing is fairly high, but for the level of quality and service, it's actually not that bad. We would highly recommend.

Came here for weekend brunch with my girl friends in celebration of an *engagement*!!We got seated pretty quickly since we made a reservation on OpenTable the day before. Parking is valet only. Service was good, staff was friendly. The food did take a while to come but everything tasted great! Definitely not the most budget friendly place to eat, ($9 coffee) but you pay for the view and the beautiful location. This brunch place is part of the spa&resort with the golf course just across the street. Would definitely consider coming here again to celebrate something special!
Be the first to ReplyVery attentive service, menu somewhat limited in offerings.
My wife really enjoyed her meal. I was less impressed with mine, which was the chicken enchiladas. The white meat was very dry and I would have had a better Mexican meal at a burrito joint. Still, it's a nice place to try once. Just don't order the enchiladas.

We had a birthday celebration for a party of six and had a mixed experience with the food quality and service. Salads were good, but nothing extraordinary, main course dishes were a mixed bag - branzino and salmon were ok, but the fried chicken (special of the day) was poorly executed. There was an overabundance of greasy batter that fell off the meat upon taking a bite. Both the batter and the meat were flavorless, tough white meat and bland flavor. Desserts were also a mixed bag - the soufflé was decent, but the carrot cake had too much filling, plain cream cheese in flavor. Service was spotty, started out ok, but when the restaurant got busy we received little attention, the birthday dessert was dropped off hastily without utensils.
Be the first to ReplyThe view is amazing and service is excellent.
I don't remember the food because it was a while ago.

We came for brunch after visiting the spa and was not disappointed! My housemade chorizo breakfast tacos were really good, I'm not usually a fan of potatoes in tacos but they were crispy and had lots of flavor. I did think the chorizo was lacking a little bit as the taco was mostly potato but the chorizo had a great spice to it. The brunch menu includes "GF" next to several items to denote they are gluten free, however my tacos did not have the GF next to them even though my server said they were. As someone with an allergy making sure you have the proper dietary information is really helpful.

I came in for dinner tonight to celebrate our 4 year dating anniversary but Rancho Valencia happens to be our wedding venue for 2024! We officially booked last month and We decided to come in tonight to celebrate. This will be the third time we've had dinner at the pony room. It is a little overpriced, but the quality is amazing. The food is delicious and the service is unmatched. I highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyIt was more than I expected.
The food, service and ambiance are unmatched. Great place for special occasion intimate occasions.
Be the first to ReplyWe had spent a day at the spa and ended with dinner here.
All the food choices were classics done really well! The warm nuts they bring out with your drinks are divine. We got the shrimp cocktail, bacon wrapped dates, and a wedge salad to start (they happily split the wedge for us) - for entrees we got fish tacos and the burger! All of it was 10/10. An added bonus is their extensive "mocktail" list! We can't wait to come back and bring our family and friends.

Lovely, upscale spot for an amazing lunch or dinner with a great vibe. The House cabernet is fantastic and so are their sides and main courses. The service has been on point and don't forget the desserts! We will definitely keep coming back. 5/5

We had been looking to go to this restaurant for quite a while and finally made the decision to go. The interior is really nice but it is quite small and they sat us outside which was no where near as nice as inside. This was a huge bummer. The service was really good but the food was more on the ok side rather something extraordinary. I had the beet salad and the steak which both were good but nothing too special. If it wasn't for the great service it would be closer to 3 stars specially considering the price.

This restaurant is one of my favorites in San Diego, for sure. It offers a relaxing atmosphere to have a cocktail, munch, and conversation with favorite friends and family. I appreciate their effort in detail to impeccable hospitality. Cheers!
Be the first to ReplyThis is a special place.
Everything is great. Lovely decor, huge grass area for the kids to run, pretty view, great service, relaxing live music, delicious steak tacos, large margarita menu. The best/healthiest kids menu I've ever seen. They don't serve food at the fire pits anymore fyi. You'll probably want a reservation as they seem to be booked up on the weekend evenings. Highly recommend!
