The location is awesome.
.. very close to the finish line. It's right where the horses come out of the paddock and on to the track. The service was virtually non-existent, as our server was baked out of his mind. The food was mediocre at best.

I read reviews with only a star and here the deal, it's a great day at the races! For those who complain about the service or food or price, guess what? Stay in the grand stands. The Porch is awesome. Service is very friendly and the food is plentifully. Big portions. After the cost of the table (per person), you each need to spend a minimum of $25 p/p combined food and drink. It's easy to do so relax, enjoy the races protected from the sun, enjoy the women in the pretty dresses and hats, enjoy a cigar, and hopefully win a race or two.

00 for the table we think because we never saw the table charge, plus we paid for drink and food! We were very polite through all this. Here we go.. Wine comes in plastic cups. Service so slow! My beet salad for $18.00 was tasty. It said it came with an oil infused baguette. To me that means some kind of bread. It never appeared. My friend had shrimp cocktail. Ok. She also had a greek salad with chicken. Ok. We asked for water. We received cups of water after several reminders. Slow! We asked for a pitcher of water. Only a bussboy has that job and he was not to be found. This particular situation went on for an our. We asked several wait staff to get water, nothing. I asked for a piece of bread for my salad. The waiter kindly and unobtrusively offered a pack of oyster crackers which I declined and said "I prefer the baguette. "The waiter and I both agreed, baguette means bread. Finally my friend and I getting annoyed we ask politely for the manager. A very young man came over and knelt down at our eye level. He explained the chef had pulled all bread as an item off the menu. That sounded very suspicious to me! Pahleeze! I saw bread on other tables hidden in sandwiches. Fast forward. The manager never reappeared. The bread never appeared. I opted for oyster crackers for dessert. They don't have ice coffee at this racetrack in the middle of summer. So.. they make this delicious beige watery substance yuck! It's called ice coffee. Finally we get the food bill. The portable credit card machine asked for 30 35 or 40% tip. We customed it at 16%. The waiter was not happy with the tip and the way he deposited the slips on our table, was not nice. He never apologized or said "thank you."Please read other one star reviews for more information. Be aware there is much second hand cigar smoke to ingest as well as your food and beverage. At the end we asked again to talk to the manager. He was a no show. However, the races are a fun take.

The ambience and scenic view are only good if you are seated on the raised part of the restaurant. We had reservations and were one of the first patrons there. We were given possibly the worst seat in the place, while 95 % of the place was empty. We politely asked to me moved and was told our table was the only 8 top in the place, a ridiculous explanation. We paid $160 just for that table, and then an additional $250 for sub standard food. We will not return to The Porch when we visit Saratoga again.

Here's a hot tip: if you're going to the race track DO NOT BOTHER COMING HERE. Save yourself the $100+Do yourself a favor; sit in the stands and buy a hotdog. The quality of the food will be the same and you'll actually get your hot dog within an hour of ordering it. Being busy is one thing but this was ridiculous. No one refilled our water at any point during the meal and we had to chase down our waitress if we wanted anything. Never coming here again. The food is mediocre. The chips that they serve with the guac are the same chips they serve with the entrees. Wish I had known that before ordering. Not to mention the way they short change you on guacamole. Not worth what they're charging.

Took at least 20 minutes for our waiter to come over. Someone at our table had ordered a little bit before us and had to reorder when we did because our waiter said he "didn't remember writing it down". A busser dropped off our food and then took it back and walked around asking every other table if it was theirs because she couldn't find our waiter to double check. That order was also missing a sandwich we ordered because they forgot that one too. I ordered water when I arrived and never got it. If I had been paying I wouldn't have tipped. I worked in my parents restaurant at 12 years old and was a better server. Unacceptable.

Booked reservations at the race track's The Porch restaurant with OpenTable.com. At the time of reservation several track restaurants were available. Decided on The Porch because of its proximity to the actual track field. Received several e-mail confirmations from The Porch prior to arrival confirming date and time. The day prior to reservation I received a voice mail from The Porch that they would not honor my confirmed reservation due to a computer "glitch" No other options were available-shame on The Porch for not honoring a reservation that was made well in advance and then not offering any other options. This was supposed to be a 25th wedding anniversary celebration-now I don't think I will even bother going to Saratoga. Shame on you The Porch! If you can not honor reservations made with an online partner such as OpenTable.com-don't work with them. I made this reservation more then a week in advance-no reason why this can't be honored. With no other restaurants available I'm left with no options. Pure incompetence and extremely poor customer service.
