The Rotunda San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year

Popping in and out of the nice boutique stores around union square, I remembered I away wanted to stop by here. It was close to closing but I said what the heck. Easy access straight to the top with the elevators next to Chanel on the right side as you enter Neiman Marcus. Greeted with huge smiles from all staff. Super warming and charming setting as you span the room. We were lucky to have found an open seat near the glass wide looking down at Union square. Dahn and his entire crew were just fun and professional to deal with. They all made you feel like you were rich and famous. Attentive to detail for sure . The food came out in quick fashion, but fresh, mouth watering taste. Not the typically tourist trap where your paying insanely high prices for garbage food. This place is just absolutely perfect. I would come back everyday over and over. :). The champagne flight was an excellent compliment to the seafood tower . So give it a try. The tea and dessert tower for one was just right!
A delightful afternoon tea.
Impeccable service with the well-prepared food and great ingredients. The finger sandwiches weren't typical for tea but delicious nonetheless.
Came here with family today.
The special appetizer was excellent. It is squash blossoms stuffed with ricotta cheese and sit on a bed of tomato coulis. You have got to try this very unique dish. Lobster and shrimp rosotto was an excellent entree choice. Service is always great. Lunch for 5 came to $200. Extremely reasonable for SF in a fantasically beautiful setting overlooking the Union Square.

Sometimes I am worried about these kind of boujee restaurants because I find many to have small portions with okay service and ridiculously high prices, but I was pleasantly surprised with a perfect lunch at The Rotunda! I do not remember the name of the server but she provided the most attentive and friendly service and made the entire experience feel so special and memorable for our celebration. Everything was delicious - we enjoyed the most smooth and flavorful broth, fluffy bread, and indulgent dungeness crab melt with truffle fries (upgraded from chips). It was nice that the busser took time to take photos of our group with different angles. The view and decor were beautiful as well and lived up to the hype. As a local I wish I had visited sooner and will definitely bring friends and family here when they visit!
(SF) Great service and the lobster bisque was delicious.
Truffle fries is alright. Nice little brunch area. Complimentary bread was good. Inside a mall so you can walk around after. Definitely going there more for the background
Wonderful tea and lunch serve.
A view that is breathtaking, and service is impeccable.
We went to the Rotunda to celebrate my birthday months ago.
Wow, how time flew. Another year older, don't remind me. Haha. Anyway, my husband accompanied me to this afternoon tea adventure. The place was busy. Even when we had a reservation, we still had to wait maybe 5-10 minutes. The interior is beautiful with old world charm. As most people know, the Rotunda is located inside Neiman Marcus, very fancy. Love to come here during the holidays. That ceiling is worth going to if nothing else. I read that this place used to be another shopping store aptly named, City of Paris, but that was before we were born. The afternoon tea offerings here are not bad at all. Better than some of the other places I have been to and so much variety. Waitstaff was nice and courteous. Had a great time.

I saw on TikTok they had caviar service! So why not have a boujee meal for a boujee day? I went without a reservation. I was seated quickly. They immediately brought out a consume broth which was really delicious. A buttery bread with strawberry butter came out shortly after. I ordered their caviar service, and they gave me three options. Cheapest being $120 and the most expensive being $200. I opted for the $120 one. Definitely felt boujee when they brought it out. They had sides of chives, capers, crème fraiche, lemon, and eggs. I'm not one for capers but I thought it was a great addition to the caviar bundle. I really enjoyed my time at the rotunda (and so did my wallet lol). Definitely want to go back and try their tea again.

It's been a while since I've visited but it did not disappoint! We did not have reservations and they were able to fit my group in for a few drinks and appetizers! The crab sandwich was fantastic, along with my Cosmo! Definitely not the cheapest snack but for the ambiance and service, it's definitely worth! Don't drink too much though or you'll spend lots of money downstairs, since all the luxury stores are there waiting for their next victim.
Amazing service, beautiful view and delicious food! Cheers
Amazing service, beautiful view and delicious food! Cheers to the entire team!! Always a stellar experience ! The shrimp cocktail is always a winner!
Delightful Afternoon Tea
My husband and I went to San Francisco for our first anniversary. On the day of our anniversary, we decided to take the cable car to afternoon tea at the Rotunda. The setting is beautiful. The service was very good as was the food. I found the price on par with other afternoon teas that I have been to. The popover with strawberry butter was the star of the show for us. It was absolutely decadent, and the strawberry butter was perfect. The tea includes both a sweet and savory scone, a variety of tea sandwiches, and desserts that were both delicious and fresh. There was so much food, we wound up taking some back to our hotel and had it for breakfast in bed the next morning! If we return to San Francisco, we would definitely go back to tea at the Rotonda.
Beautiful food
Surprisingly great option when at Moscone Center and you want to avoid the hysteria. Found it on OpenTable and was really pleased. Beautifully appointed with nice views. I started with the lobster bisque and it was fantastic, would go back just for that. Then had an asparagus and smoked salmon salad (daily special), which was just the correct size. The restaurant does feel a little pretension but it is a great little oasis in the area.
This was our first time for afternoon tea here.
I've had tea at hotels and a local tea room but felt this place was better except for one place in Canada. The atmosphere is very nice with a gorgeous dome ceiling. I remember the City of Paris store at this site in my childhood with that beautiful dome. Staff especially Charlie, our wait staff was very nice. We started off with a warm consommé which was a wonderful clear broth in a small cup. Our teas, Earl Grey and Camomile were good but I've had Earl Greys where it tasted more floral. The popovers were large and nice and fluffy and good with the strawberry butter. Finally the 3 tiers of food arrived. The top with an assortment of sweets, tiny bites of cheesecake, lemon tart, macaroon. The next level was the savory with a really good curried chicken salad in croissant, ham meat in tiny buns, cucumber sandwiches as well as salmon sandwiches. The bottom level were 4 scones, 2 each cheddar chive and ginger scones. They came with lemon curd and butter. We took our time and spent 1.5 hrs eating and sipping tea. I enjoyed the food so that I'd love to make a return visit.

Came for afternoon high tea and was great! We made a reservation and wasn't too busy. We got seated right away and was beautiful inside and helped it was a nice sunny day outside too. Food and service was quick and prompt. There weren't many tea options for afternoon tea. I expected a large assortment of options and they were out of 1 of them. The food was all great and way better than expected. Started with a popover with strawberry butter. It was so light and love popovers. The scones, sandwiches, and desserts were all delish too. Good texture, flavor, fresh, and all was really filling. Everything was good but wish the tables were a bit farther apart. Seated next to some other ladies and felt like we were in their conversation. It was a bit too close for comfort. It's a good deal for high tea and would check it out again tho.

I made afternoon reservation a few weeks in advance for my MIL birthday tea service for 3 people. We checked in at 2:15pm even though our reservation was for 2:45. I was pleasantly surprised they seated us right away and next to the gorgeous window. I was hoping they were going to do that but didn't request it. The waitress came over and she explained the add on menu and the choices of teas . We added a Caesar salad to share and it was plenty for all of us. Then the waitress brought out popovers with strawberry flavored butter. So soft and airy. I was amazed by the elegant three tiered tray was so many delicious options. The apple scone with lemon curd was my favorite. Also, the salmon with caviar was memorable. Not to be outdone by the chicken curry sandwich on a croissant. I'm so glad I made this trip to the city for this unbelievable occasion.

I came here for a work lunch and was pleasantly surprised! The waiters were very friendly and made great recommendations for the wine and food. The seafood tower had lots of variety and everything tasted very fresh. The mini Tabasco bottles were so cute and a must have for the oysters. We also ordered the truffle fries and baked Brie (not pictured) that were both delicious as well. The lobster and shrimp risotto was delicious but very filling. I took the majority of my food home and it was still yummy the next day! I saw some people having afternoon tea which looked fun and I definitely want to try next time.

This is a great restaurant with an incredible view from the top floor. The ceiling dome is beautiful and looks like something out of a museum in Italy. My wife and I came for lunch and we had a nice experience. I enjoyed their complimentary puff bread with strawberry butter along with their chicken consommé served in a small tea cup. These are excellent starters. For our main dishes, we loved their truffle fries and calamari. I've never had calamari like this one; it is served freshly grilled without the breaded coating. It was delicious and was paired with this nutty spice sauce that's almost like an olive tapenade. I would definitely come back for these again. We want to come back again to try their tea time tower that has small goodies and sandwich bites.
Amazing Food but Terrible Service.
Asked a couple question to the waitress and she gave us this look and in a very arrogant manner said "everything is written on the menu...." then we ordered some coffee and when it came out she held the coffee at the end of the table just standing their...... waited for us to clear the table, make room AND we had to reach to her to grab the coffee... again in such a arrogant manner she just stood their.... and kept saying "here's your coffee..." with no gesture of serving just STANDING at the edge of the table. If you had a bad day take your day off and don't ruin other people's day.

Always excellent and that includes the service, this restaurant understands the value of being on point when serving folks. We were on our way to Dune at the Metreon and walk down to the rotunda for a quick bite to eat. I was slightly worried as we did not have a reservation in this place fills up, but generally speaking, you can get into a few of the tables they have near the bar or at the bar without a reservation Our waiter who was also the bartender I cannot say enough good things about. We had the margaritas which were excellent. He had almost insisted that we try the new calamari and since we both love it, we ordered it and it is out of this world, one of the best dishes I've had at this restaurant we finished with a amazing salmon over beets and I had the fresh Dungeness crab with shrimp Louie. Super amazing food as always this place never disappoints. I have not been here for their tea service as I am gluten intolerant. I do see the reviews are a little mixed on that, but I can absolutely tell you the lunch services just beyond.

The Rotunda at Neiman Marcus is a lovely experience full of history and elevated surroundings. We went in with a reservation around 3pm on a Saturday and it was hopping with people, ladies dressed to impress mixed with tourists. We wanted a banquette booth but got a smaller table instead. No problem, we understand. The views of union square and that stained glass ceiling were worth it. The tea service was what excited me. I love a mix of a lot of small things and this delivered and then some. We ordered the standard service and chose our tea. The servers are efficient, friendly enough, and swift and supportive. Our server had a LOT of cologne on and that could not go un-mentioned. So much that I have to take a star off for it. We started with a warm popover with strawberry butter, and a small cup of consommé! Delicious! I recently learned that consommé is considered a Luxury soup due to the preparation it takes to make. Very nice touch with consommé as the amuse bouche. The tower of treats were all very good and the mini desserts were spectacular. Even with the small sizes on the desserts (there were multiples to try) we ended up taking scones back to our hotel room. I can't wait to go back and I highly recommend the tea experience here!

I've come here several times for the afternoon tea, which is consistently very good, but today we sampled other menu items. The cheeseburger was well-prepared, cooked medium as requested. But the star was the swordfish special - so succulent and perfectly prepared! Will return to try more items on their menu. The wait staff was very attentive, and we had a lovely window seat overlooking Union Square on a bright sunny afternoon. Bliss.
Service was pretty good.
Food was a little under seasoned but that's a subjective thing. Served me a cup with lipstick stains but immediately changed it.
Disappointed in the quality of the food this time
It's been 10 years since I've had tea at the Rotunda, and this time it was not during the Christmas holiday. Since that time, I've been to tea many times in different cities and am well versed on the offerings of high tea. I took a friend here to celebrate her 80th birthday, and while the view and setting was lovely, and the service was good; I was somewhat disappointed in the food provided for the tea. The sandwiches were a bit dry, and I only had a scone and one macaroon which were just okay. Everything tasted a bit day-old. Maybe it was an off day in the kitchen. The Rotunda - a hidden gem
One of San Francisco's best kept secrets is The Rotunda in Neiman Marcus. In the heart of Union Square, The Rotunda is perhaps San Francisco's finest settings for lunch or afternoon tea. A beautiful setting on the 4th floor of Neiman Marcus, dining under a stained glass dome with beautiful views of Union Square. As if the beautiful atmosphere wasn't enough, patrons are also served some of the freshest and tastiest food in the city. Unfortunately The Rotunda is not open for dinner but breakfast or dinner here will carry one through the day. The meal always starts with a complimentary small cup of consomme which is bewildering but quite pleasant. A favorite is the fish sandwich which is quite hearty and tasty. Breaded and fried but not enough to overwhelm the taste of the fish. The truffle fries are also very fragrant and tasteful. An excellent restaurant that should always be on one's list when visiting!

I have a reservation for Kasama Chicago I listed but it’s not showing up because the listed opening hours are only until 3 or 4 pm. My reservation is for their dinner service at 5. Is there a way I can change the times myself?
