The Slanted Door Las Vegas Reviews from The Last Year
Yummy
Excellent meal, cocktails & friendly staff. Don’t recommend paying extra for kitchen view since basically you get a kitchen or strip view regardless
Not worth the price
Over priced for what you get. Yes, we went for the experience but when dinner costs so much the quality of the steak should reflect it. One of the steak we ordered should have never left the kitchen (it was a poor cut of meat) and couldn’t find the waiter anywhere to say something to. The ceasar salad was very good, oyster appetizer was mediocre. We expected so much more from our meal at Hells Kitchen, it really fell short.
Photos added. Great service and dessert. The rest Blah
My wife and I made a reservation and were seated immediately. My wife ordered a cocktail that she enjoyed. I had an Iced Tea. My wife ordered the braised short ribs. I ordered the Beef Wellington. We also ordered the Maitaki Mushroom side. Everything came out very salty to our taste. But we brought back all three dishes as to-go as we couldn't finish it all. As a reheated dishs the next day, the saltiness disappeared and we liked it all. Finally, the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. That made the meal. The service was excellent. Photos added.
Red or Blue? Both are Winners!
I just come for the Beef Wellington, but this time I also discovered the Lobster Risotto! What a delicious meal. I booked 3 months out as soon as the dates opened up and if you are a Hells Kitchen devotee you will simply love the experience. The place was hopping which is what you would expect from Vegas. For a more intimate date try the Gordon Ramsay Steak in the Paris Hotel. One of our waters was a little ornery but the other was a joy. They do rush you a little so be sure to ask for a break between courses. The risotto was mouth watering and the Wellington cut like butter. Simply divine. The drinks are pricey, but the wine list is amazing. It was a joy to watch the kitchen hustle and bustle and of course we had the obligatory photo in front of the red/blue kitchens.
Not worth the $$$$$
The food and service is great, but sorry Gordon , it's not worth the price. Including a tip it cost 2 of us $400 , we didn't go overboard on drinks ( 2 each) either. They charge $13 for a Peroni and it's about half a pint !
Mixed feelings
The beef Wellington was a disappointment as it’s room temp, seems pre made. The pastry was soggy, little sauce to go with the portion. However, we did enjoy the lobster risotto very much, it’s a great dish. We were also delighted with the toffee pudding with ice cream, I hope if we do come back next time, the Beef Wellington will be better.
Good experience
Great foods, great drinks, friendly bartenders. Its a good experience, the foods (scallops and beef Wellington) just like on the show. Although I wish I ordered the lamb instead of Wellington.
Expect to spend.
Food was good, expect to spend a lot. Was very disappointed at the attire of some of the other dinners. Lots of people wearing jeans and t-shirts and lots just looking sloppy. I'm not a snob buy we dressed up for a nice evening out at a nice place not heading out for a back yard bbq. Also noticed a bar foot rail broken as soon as you walk in the restaurant.
Perfect!
The food was incredible, service was great really couldn’t fault it. It was on the expensive side but you don’t mind paying when the food is actually good. In Las Vegas there was so many expensive places with average food however this was not the case with Hell’s Kitchen. We had previously had the Beef Wellington at another Gordon Ramsay Restaurant in London so thought we would try something new with the beef short rib. It was incredible, perfect portion size. What really stole the show was the Lobster Risotto, this may have been the tastiest thing I’ve ever eaten. Our waitress was Barbara and she was lovely. Genuinely so welcoming, kind and attentive. I found the service in America pretty poor and that people expect tips for doing very little however, Barbara was the complete opposite! Clearly works hard, knows her stuff and is a real asset to the Hell’s Kitchen Team!
Can't wait to return!
Very much enjoyed our visit here and it wasn't our first time either. The lobster risotto, scallops, sticky toffee pudding and Beef Wellington were all delicious. The only reason I gave one less star is because the potato puree with the welly was cold, and it was the same on our last visit as well. The ambiance is lively and loud but thoroughly enjoyable. The staff was very friendly. A special shout out to Jair, our server. He was phenomenal, kind, well informed and made our experience really enjoyable. We will be back :)
Overrated
Absolutely aweful meal it’s definitely overrated cost $640 dollars for 4 ppl set menus not impressive DO NOT waste your money This is not GORDON RAMSEY at his best
Ok but not amazing by any means
I was really looking forward to going to Hells Kitchen and booked it for a special occasion via the UK before flying to Vegas. Whilst it wasn’t a horrible or bad experience, it definitely wasn’t the gastro delight that I expected and the ambiance was very disappointing. I ordered the beef wellington which was tepid and the pastry was soggy. Tiny amount of puréed potato came with the dish and the whole plate looked very uninteresting. Taste wise it was just ok. I’ve had much better. My son ordered the steak which again was ok, nothing special. The best part about the meal was the mac ‘n’ cheese. I’m glad we went and had the experience but I wouldn’t rush back there or recommend it to my friends. There are better restaurants in Vegas.
You’re paying for the experience
Took the family here for lunch: paid extra for a view of the kitchen. It’s a lovely experience and the food is pleasant (by that I mean it’s what I expected to receive from eating in a restaurant) some novelty Ramsey stuff to pick as well. The servers though left a lot to be desired. Ours were some of the laziest, inept people you could have for table service. I suspect because of the menu prices they already assume they’re going to get significant sums in gratuities and thus don’t even try.
Don't waste yourv time
Disappointing dinner food was very fair ,noisy such a waste of money .avoid going there .I did com0lain to the manager he couldn't care less what I had to say ,such bad customer service .
Definitely recommend!
Still AMAZING food! We all loved our meals and felt so full when we left. Our busboy was amazing! She was completely on top of everything and so helpful.
Adjust your expectations
We were excited to check out Hell’s kitchen because we love Gordon Ramsay and his television show so much. We had high expectations which were halfway met. The food was good, but the prices were very expensive. The cocktails were very cool! if I had one negative it would probably be the staff. I definitely expected more from the staff. From check in to ordering ..I just expected more. I’ll possibly go back with expectations adjusted.
Wouldn’t waste my money
Did not meet expectations. Food was ok, not a lot of flavor. Potato puree was cold. Food was premade and just heated up- we were seated and done with meal and dessert in half an hour. Expensive for the quality of food.
Never again
Lots of confusion, interesting menu in itself, decent quality of raw materials, friendly staff. However, the dishes were absolutely cheap: risotto with sticky lobster, overcooked, and with chives on top, which covered up any other flavour, and then braised cutlet, all stringy and also with a mountain of chives. They were dishes from a "poorly managed" Italian trattoria. I expected much more.
Go there hungry and make a reservation.
We recently ate here while on a 50th birthday trip for a friend. There were 6 of us that for lunch after making a reservation which is highly recommended! It was busy! We all chose to do the fixed menu of Beef Wellington which is a signature dish for a reason. We also choose to add the wine pairing. The food was amazing. I haven't had Beef Wellington since leaving the UK many years ago, this was worth every penny. The only reason I gave it 4 stars overall is that they don't allow sharing a meal. This was a big serving and with the appetizer and the sticky toffee pudding dessert, there was a lot of wasted food. I like to eat and can pack it away but I hardly touched my dessert. My wife could only eat half of her Beef Wellington. There's the option to take leftovers away but must people are in hotels and spending the rest of the day wandering, it's just not feasible. I would have been happy to pay a plating fee to share and see no food go to waste. I had a restaurant for 24 years, it killed me to see this food being wasted. In hindsight we should have taken it to go and shared it with some of the less fortunate people hungry on the strip.
Turns out Chef Gordo knows a thing or two about running a successful restaurant after all!
As big fans of Gordon Ramsay my wife and I weren't going to miss an opportunity to see if Chef Gordo would put his food where our mouth was. I wasn't sure if he was going to come yell at me right at the table or if I had to go into the kitchen. We knew it was going to be expensive and it was- but one thing I've learned about "New Vegas" is that everything is ridiculously expensive- some things are worth it and others aren't... This was DEFINITELY worth it. The service, atmosphere, decor... everything was top shelf. Staff were pleasant, food was outrageous and the ambiance was on point. My steak may have been a wee bit rarer than medium rare but it was an extremely thick "baseball" cut filet minion- I've never had such a cut before so it may have been the way it was intended. The flavour was fantastic and as a couple from Alberta we can appreciate good meat. There's not much I can add- expect to spend about 300 USD for the full experience. We had a couple extra drinks so it was over 400 including a reasonable tip... No regrets.
