Good variety and ambiance met a friend who lives in Astoria
Good variety and ambiance met a friend who lives in Astoria . Good sized portion. I had a wrap and it was a large portion had leftovers
Be the first to ReplyThis is an amazing spot for vegans and non vegans.
Great service and even better food. They even had vegan desserts. I wish I could give 10 stars. The family and I really enjoyed the whole experience. We dined outside on cool summer night and it was great. The service was exceptional from our matron (Yereni). There was no wait; we were seated immediately. Try the Gauc and Chips... AMAZING!!! Obay Fries are great!

I spent a fair amount of time obsessing about where we were going to eat for dinner during our one night in NYC this past weekend but this place was just a few blocks away. Just say anything resembling vegan and you have me wrapped around your little finger. The ambiance is certainly unique for a restaurant. The decor is a love it or hate it kind of situation. The menu has a ton of veg options. My dad, who is not vegan, tried their "fishless" entree and he said it tasted remarkably like white fish. To start, GF and I ordered the chorizo mac and cheese which was spectacular. It was some of the best vegan mac I have ever had. The portion was more of a side than anything else, however. For my main, I ordered the buffalo cauliflower flatbread with buffalo cauliflower (duh), avocado, "cheddar", cucumber walnut "ranch". The flatbread was soft and chewy and the cauliflower had a really nice, spicy flavor. I would have welcomed more veggies at this point though because the rest of the ingredients: cheese, avocado, ranch were wayyy to heavy/creamy and overpowered the whole thing. This was a disappointment. My mom ordered the seitan entree which she adored. GF ordered an impossible burger and took it down like a champ. GF and I also ordered some drinks, I the blueberry marg and she one of their martinis or manhattans or something. Their drink menu is great and I really enjoyed my beverage. We were never asked if we wanted to order another drink while our empty glasses sat on the table. We also finished the water that was given to us and this was never refilled. Another issue I have is the aggressive addition of mushrooms to almost all of the dishes. I wanted something with seitan but every single seitan dish had mushrooms. I understand many people, especially plant-forward folks, like mushrooms but not all of us do. I like what they're doing here and there is definitely a lot of potential but some things need to be ironed out.
Be the first to ReplyThe Vegoist was a surprise that I truly loved.
To be honest, I walked past the restaurant and thought it looked kind of shady, but the action is happening in the back, and on the second level, the food was to die, for we had cauliflower wings which were melt in your mouth, awesome. The mac & cheese was sweet and creamy and decadent for means we chose pasta the ravioli and the tortellini. Both very tasty but not really that special service was good if a little indifferent in attitude. Overall well worth the visit I'll go back for sure.
Be the first to ReplyThree of us dined at the LIC location this April.
The decor cannot be described due to almost complete absence of lighting. The tables were spaced so close that we needed to go single file. Our phone flashlights allowed us to read the menu, which has great variety of both vegan and non-vegan choices. Once our orders came, we could not see our meals! The food is delicious. I had the "chorizo Mac & Cheese". A table are had the non-vegan Taco triple and the other diner ordered vegan mushroom "Calamari" and spinach ravioli. Fried dishes were a bit greasy, salads were a little mushy (quinoa ingredient). Prices are reasonable, but the absence of adequate lighting and unusual restroom etiquette made it unlikely we'll return.
Be the first to Replybeautiful place, really cozy environment.
love they carry vegan treats desserts! accidentally walked past the place because the sign was a little hard to read, but so glad i found it!!

Amazing decor and great menu especially for gluten free peeps! Highly recommend

Lots of options and prices were very affordable for the presentation of the meals. All the dishes we ordered were good especially the butternut squash ravioli, oyster mushrooms calamari (but wish the mushroom was bigger!). I didn't like the vegan fish entree I got as the fried fish tasted like heated frozen food but the sides were very flavored and good. The food came very fast and servers were friendly. Setting was a bit quirky. Strangely the place turns into a bar/club after like 930/10pm.

My partner and I decided to stop by for a late dinner and drinks. The Vegoist was particularly interesting for us because 1) it's a new restaurant and 2) there is an abundance of vegetarian options. My partner ordered three tacos: BBQ seitan, chorizo, and buffalo cauliflower. One taco costs $5, which isn't the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive. The BBQ seitan taco was packed and very flavorful! The chorizo taco, on the other hand, was NOT flavorful enough and there were too many toppings/garnishes, as opposed to actual filling. The buffalo cauliflower taco was overwhelmingly buffalo sauced.I ordered the skirt steak salad, and it was also a disappointment. There weren't enough greens/salad for me to consider it a salad. I asked for the steak to be cooked to medium, but when I was trying to bite through the slices of steak, they were tough and chewy (on top of the fact that it was cold by the time it reached my table. I understand a salad is traditionally served cold, but steaks should be warm/hot for it to be tasty!).We had to order a side of old bay fries and grilled brussels sprouts because the mains were really small in size. The fries were decent: the texture was great, but there was barely any old bay seasoning. The grilled brussels sprouts were DEFINITEly not grilled. They were either steamed or boiled. They were also flavorless, so we had to use the jam reserve decorating the plate as a condiment for them to be acceptable.I ordered two margaritas and both times they took a too long to arrive, especially considering how it was not packed at all on a Saturday night. Service overall was lacking (staff was rude, with the exception of our waitress) and slow for a non-crowded place. There was a live "DJ," but the mix was extremely subpar. The venue also had the music blasting so loud that I couldn't even think. The meal was over $100 for the two of use, but we both left feeling as if we had only gone through appetizers.I doubt I would revisit any time soon.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is delicious, the ingredients and flavor profiles
The food is delicious, the ingredients and flavor profiles are there for sure. However, it seems like the kitchen has a hard time synchronizing their firing. I have visited 3 times and there are always one or two dishes that come out room temp, especially the pasta. My guess is that the kitchen holds food until everything is ready and some dishes end up cooling down too much before being dropped at the table. Better timing in the kitchen or dropping dishes at the table as they are ready would make a difference. Service is okay, not great, but I know from experience that when servers are not engaged it could be the work environment, so I won't place blame with no context. At the end of the day they did their job, took our order and dropped our food. Nothing special, nothing terrible. Overall I would recommend visiting because the food is good, warm or cold.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing! My daughter's vegan.
My husband isn't. I'm in the middle. This place was perfect for us! Has a vegan menu and a non-vegan menu!We really loved the dinner, ambiance and desert!

This place is super unique! They have a completely vegan menu but also a meat menu. The theory behind it is that the chef doesn't want to force anyone to eat vegetarian food but finds that when presented with both options people are intrigued to try the plant based one. The presentation of the food is obviously stunning look at the pictures. Taste wise also fabulous. My favorites were the strawberry arugula salad and cauliflower drumsticks. Although the mushroom calamari is a popular dish and it was unique to try, I wouldn't order it again. Do think it's worth to try it at least once though.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing vegan and non-vegan food.
I Always order the mushroom "calamari" and chicken-less entree. It's like a Thanksgiving feast lol. Their vegan raspberry cheesecake is a wonder - incredibly decadent yet you don't feel lethargic and heavy afterwards. Also the waitstaff is incredibly accommodating and gracious!
Be the first to ReplyI'm going to break this down in several parts.
5 Stars Food is 5 star worthy! For vegan food it's decently priced. Very tasty, came out pretty quick. Lots of options. I believe I had a dream about the mac n cheese after. *See below for awkwardness thoughThe bbq seitan is also a must! *Sorry no photos..next time. We were hungry!**Though...I don't get why they call themselves vegan as they also have a non-vegan menu which Im sure could confuse people. 3 StarThe Decor. Half is super cute, half is super weird. One of the wallpapers hurt my soul a bit. 1 StarThe dude working.Let me paint a picture for you.My friend and I walk in and he sees us, I say "table for two please" he seems disappointed to have to work but shows us a table or says we can sit upstairs. We take the first option. We sit down. Normal service happens for a bit.Food comes out pretty quickly. My friend and I love the truffle fries, love the bbq seitan entree, but the oyster mushrooms tasted like cornmeal. Not even fried/oil. Just cornmeal. We couldn't taste the mushrooms at all.So my friend very politely suggested that we were not fans of it and would rather order another dish. The guy started arguing with us (really we said nothing he just talked at us) going on and on about how people love this dish, it's one of the favorites, etc.To which I noted that maybe this was a bad batch as it only tasted like cornmeal and nothing more. I love mushrooms and I was disappointed end of story. We order the mac and cheese. To which he says "And what do you expect from the mac and cheese?" My mouth dropped in confusion but I some how got out the words "ahh just mac and cheese" And he turned and left.He was very rude, strange and clearly angry at the world. My man, don't go to work and don't work in the biz if you just down right hate people. 5 StarOther staff members were lovely.
Be the first to ReplyKinda looks like a jungle when you walk into the vegoist.
The decor is pretty cool but intense. The wall paper runs throughout the whole restaurant. We decided to sit upstairs. I didn't like the table we were offered so we moved. Our waitress Katarina was completely cool with that. In fact she told us we had 5 more minutes to happy hour if we want to get our drinks in. We were chatting away while Katarina is going up and down the stairs. Bringing us drinks asking if we we're ready to order,Alway with a smile on her face. We ended up ordering the tacos. It was a huge plate for $15 which is great value for your money. I think I liked the "fish" taco the best. Was too dark for good photos, sorry.Overall this was a great experience. And our waitress Katarina was lovely. Will be back!
Be the first to ReplyBest vegan crab cakes I've ever had, by a wide margin.
Love the mushroom calamari as well. Both are worth coming for. Will absolutely be back!
Be the first to ReplyNot bad but certainly room for improvement.
Staff incredibly friendly and accommodating. Photos make the place look intriguing but in the end it's a slightly underwhelming in aesthetics. They have both a carnivore and vegan menu. Half price bottles of wine on Tuesday. Colleague ordered a ribeye medium and it came out well. I asked for a recommendation between two dishes and it was good just not great. Both items seemed like something we could have made at home when we were in our 20's. The appetizer was really impressive and was the highlight! Buffalo cauliflower drumsticks. They certainly did NOT look like drumsticks but tasted incredible. Truly full of flavor. Would I go back? I would but after I've tried other vegan restaurants.
