This restaurant has a Michelin star ??? That's not right. Here is our experience.
Overpriced, overrated, mediocre food and bad service.
I am not a stranger of paying $$$$ for food and cocktails but this place is definitely not worth spending.
It started with service. As we were seated, we were given a "wine list" (a book nothing short of a War and Peace volume), no menus. My husband doesn't drink, so he would like to explore the food menu but it was a while until they brought us one. Everyone around was served variety of house baked bread, even people who were seated after us. We had to ask for it. We asked for water NO ICE. Minutes later come two glasses of water full of ice. Meanwhile table next to us with Russian speaking patrons gets all the attention, including from the manager. Maybe they bought expansive wine or something.
Food. The pre fix menu has ALL KINDS of add ons, so watch out ! Heirloom tomato/burrata salad for $38 ? Oh, that's reasonable ! The burrata was tough,Overpriced and underwhelming
I get better exact salad at Revel in Danville for $16.50 and burrata just melts in your mouth and tastes like buttuh.
Fois gras (add on). A piece of lard, pure butter with a hint of duck liver. SO not what I expected in a place like this.
Lobster (add on), basically smallest minced pieces of lobster mixed with a lot of bread crumbs. No lumps of real lobster meat, just something they make stuffing with.
Desert (add on ) basic soufflé had better.
Two Grey Goose vodka martinis $34 plus $4 Grey Goose add on ?
All their cocktails in the menu that had way more ingredients like Negroni are $15
Add on after add on after add on....and on top of that, they already calculate 20% tip FOR YOU. What if I don't find the service and /or food worthy of 20% ? How presumptuous
I know so many places that are worth every penny charged including tip and The Village Pub is not it. I guess they benefit being a fancy place in the middle of nowhere.
Id rather take my money to French Laundry .
