Clearly this restaurant is a joke if you think it's acceptable to serve plain boiled macaroni noodles with burned frozen cauliflower on top. Needs to be shut down

Was taken here for lunch by a cousin who lives in ChaddertonVery very smart decorPerfectly cask conditioned ales, hand drawnWe ate from the a la carte menu rather than the lunch menuBangers and Mash are about as good a gourmet take on the traditional English comfort food as you will ever get; local sausages with exquisite creamed potatoes & perfectly steamed green beansFish & chips = amazingIf you know good food you will appreciate this place and also know that the best food takes time and does not come cheapI'll be back

I attended a wedding here in August 2010, the place itself is beautiful but thats where it ends! The food was cold, not very nice & everybodys was different size portions. The buffet was the smallest sized butties you could imagine. The mens toilets were out of order & the ladies & disabled were filthy!!! As a guest i can only give my opinion i just hope the bride & grooms opinion were different as it was their day & they paid for it, but i would not recommend it!

If you like the look of a place, you go in right? You are interested, you want to see what is on offer and if the stories are true that this is really a fantastic place. So when inside, I felt uncomfortable as I was being looked at as though I had destroyed something. I was treated like dirt. And that was only because I had Ugg Boots on and my leggings and a simple top. O NO. You have to be posh and reserved to be respected in this place. My friend had her reception here and I loved every minute but what I do not understand is the cold shoulder treatment when you just want to go in for a drink. I should have known better myself seeing all the Porches and possibly an Aston Martin outside! My mistake.

I have a had a place in my heart for the White Hart for quite a while, but over the last few years I can't help but feel it's become a little stale and my interest has waned. The food varies between decent and acceptable a little too often, and I can only describe the service as somewhat 'uninterested'. The air of traditional warmth is still there occasionally, but not enough for me to highly recommend. It's worth a try at least once as the building itself is nice and has some heritage. The prices are rather expensive too, which gives varied value-for-money, depending on the quality of the service and food on that particular night.

I went to the White Hart a few years ago as a wedding guest and found it was a really nice experience, we were well looked after, the food was excellent and the facilities were superb. I have been back several times since in the bar and foudn the place has no atmosphere you'd find in a traditional pub, the staff are less than helpful the beer is ok but very expensive and the seating in the bar is poor (the bench seats are impossible to get comfy on and the cushions slide off constantly).

I've heard mixed reviews about the White Hart at Lydgate over the years. So, on Friday just gone I took a party of seven to eat in the Brasserie. Bad idea! Service slow and unapologetic. Warmish food. We waited nearly an hour for the wine order to be taken. At which point they took the food order also. The starter arrived not long after thankfully. Unfortunately by the time we received our main course we'd been there getting on for 2 hours. We were brought sorbet between starter and main. I think to keep us happy but still no explanation as to what was going on. The ingredients were good quality, just the execution was poor. We had three courses yet were still hungry since portions were small and did not include vegetables. These were not offered to us and we realised once our mains arrived. Not exactly attentive service. As for good value, I bed to differ. You can get an excellent value meal in Manchester city centre which far exceeds what is on offer at the White Hart. If you want to stick closer to home, take yourself to Raineys on Ripponden Road, this offers excellent value, quality food and great service.

Sat in the hills above Oldham this is a interesting collection of stone-built buildings knocked through into an excellent bar, restaurant, hotel and wedding venue. The place has an excellent track-record, it has been Michelin listed for the last 12 years. There bar is traditional and old fashioned, and there are a number of different sized dining rooms all serving same excellent good value food. The food is good value with 2 courses costing around £15-30 with the majority of the dishes at the low end of this range. The restaurant decor modern and the menu slightly more expensive. Both are get very busy, so booking in advance is recommended. The wine list is good with prices ranging from £15-45. Plenty of off-street parking and good views.
